Newcastle Target Max Gradel Happy At Leeds

Newcastle have been interested in Leeds winger Max Gradel for some time now, and when we’ve watched the Ivory Coast player, he’s looked a good and exciting young prospect.

Max Gradel – happy to stay at Leeds

However, there are several reports out today that Max is more than willing to stay at Leeds United, who seem to have just missed out on a play-off  place this season.

Max is now a first team regular with the famous Leeds United club,  and has scored a massive 17 league goals to help Leeds to be currently in 7th position in the Championship, after only being promoted last season.

In fact he has 74 appearances for Leeds with 23 goals since signing on from Leicester City.

Of course a goal scoring winger is exactly what Newcastle need, and the Tyneside club will sell Wayne Routledge to QPR this summer, and at least get their money back on the player they signed 15 months ago from QPR.

But it’s also interesting that Gradel has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Yorkshire club, and we know the Newcastle scouts have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old all season.

When asked about his future, Max Gradel said this:

“If there is a new contract on the table I’d sign it because I am very happy at Leeds.”

Well that doesn’t sound too good if you are a Newcastle fan, and the only chance of getting him may be if Newcastle can tempt Leeds with a decent offer for the 23 year-old.

But with that statement above,  it doesn’t look like Newcastle can get the lad to Tyneside this summer.

What do you think?

Im sure if he got the chance he’d walk here. Hes obviously going to say hes happy with his club, all players are media trained to say the right things.

If he had the choice of playing prem football next season or championship he’d obviously choose us.

For every Routledge, there’s a Lennon!
Wouldn’t break the bank and certainly wouldn’t buy to throw straight into the first team. But brilliant squad player with a lot of potential.
Stick in a cheeky bid !

Looks like hes got alot of potential.

I can see signings like this rather than 10m+ like Gervinho, the squad needs to be added to massivley and i reckon pardew will go for younger players with good potential for 3-4m,

we need to get rid of at least 5 players, Smith, Xisco, Campbell, Lovenkrands etc. and get 4/5 first teamers in ( CB,RB/LB, RM, ST,ST)

and then get squad players for the bench, a few on frees, (Elmander,Larson,Williams)

Am not getting me hopes up on a 10m+ signing like Gervinho or Sow

he would be ok a an understudy to an more accomplised rw i thinks what we are looking at here with him, puncheon and snodgrass good, young, bags of potential and able to compete for a 1st team place still think though should the pie heads go down that we should get n’zogbia and rodallega also if enrique does leave then figeroa as well pick all 3 i reckon for 20-25m, get bassong back for around 5m.

Gradel looks a great little player, good addition if we get him! Gervinho has loads of assists as well as goals so he looks a decent prospect. Falcao looks brilliant; quick, powerful and skilful!

Personally I think we should aim to build a youthful, pacy attack force similar to what Aston Villa had. With Ben Arfa etc. we could be great. A great signing would be Eden Hazard. He looks fantastic:

    backed up with
    ———————harper——————————-
    raylor——–willo———saylor——wendt(free)-
    puncheon/gradel-barton–gosling—fergie——-
    ———————–vukic——————————
    ———————–best——————————–
everybody else could be sold bar ranger, forster and kadar who could be loaned to the championship or scottish sides for a year it would be a better squad and give the potential talent of vuckic and fergie sometime to blossom

Every time I’ve seen him, he looks nothing like a winger. He becomes paralyzed when one-on-one with his man and doesn’t have the speed of Lennon or even Routledge. If anything he’s a second striker and one that would struggle to make the step-up, in my opinion.

The only 2 players who wouldn’t be a risk from lower divisions are, Taarabt (potential to be a world beater) and Chamberlain, for me.

We should also try to look for some bargains in the prem.

    For example:

Stephen Warnock has fell out of favour at Villa and he’s a cracking player.
    Stephen Ireland from Villa.
Upson from West Ham if they go down. Cheeky bid for Charlie Adam?
    Seb Larsson from Birmingham.
    Matt Jarvis from Wolves.
    Tom Cleverly from Man U.
    Joe Cole from Liverpool?
    Hleb from Birmingham?
    Graham Dorrans from West Brom?
    Niko Kranjcar?
    Jamie O’hara?
    Benayoun from Chelsea?
    DJ Campbell from Blackpool?

Remember these are only potential bargains and not neccesarily who we should try and get. Obviously we could get an absolutely fantastic player with the £35 million plus extras.

Seen him five times and hasn’t impressed me at all. Can’t see him being a huge factor.

Gervinho on the other hand is different class and definitely needed.

personally i would ship a bit of money out on Iker Muniain, plays for Athletico Bilbao in Spain. Scouts went out to look at him at the weekend, only 18 years old and came onto the scene very early! Versataille can play as a striker and a winger and definitely one for the future, exciting player in my opinion and one we could bring to St.James!!!
