Newcastle have been interested in Leeds winger Max Gradel for some time now, and when we’ve watched the Ivory Coast player, he’s looked a good and exciting young prospect.
Max Gradel – happy to stay at Leeds
However, there are several reports out today that Max is more than willing to stay at Leeds United, who seem to have just missed out on a play-off place this season.
Max is now a first team regular with the famous Leeds United club, and has scored a massive 17 league goals to help Leeds to be currently in 7th position in the Championship, after only being promoted last season.
In fact he has 74 appearances for Leeds with 23 goals since signing on from Leicester City.
Of course a goal scoring winger is exactly what Newcastle need, and the Tyneside club will sell Wayne Routledge to QPR this summer, and at least get their money back on the player they signed 15 months ago from QPR.
But it’s also interesting that Gradel has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Yorkshire club, and we know the Newcastle scouts have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old all season.
When asked about his future, Max Gradel said this:
“If there is a new contract on the table I’d sign it because I am very happy at Leeds.”
Well that doesn’t sound too good if you are a Newcastle fan, and the only chance of getting him may be if Newcastle can tempt Leeds with a decent offer for the 23 year-old.
But with that statement above, it doesn’t look like Newcastle can get the lad to Tyneside this summer.
What do you think?
