Magpies Fancy French U21 International Midfielder

The Northern Echo is reporting today that Newcastle are interested in Toulouse left sided midfielder Franck Tabanou.

Franck Tabanou – French U21 left sided midfielder

We know Newcastle have been watching Toulouse left back Cheikh M’Bengue, but this is the first time we’ve heard Newcastle may also be interested in Tabanou.

Indeed, Newcastle have already put in an initial bid for M’Bengue, the 22 year-old French U21 International,  but that has been rejected by the French club.

The 22 year-old Tabanou is French, born in Thiais, a southern suburb of Paris, and he has so far played for both the French U20 and U21 sides, and has 12 appearances at U21 level.

He can play on the left wing or left back, and it seems anywhere on the left side of midfield.

Tabanou joined Toulouse back in 2006 as a 17 year-old,  and made his debut three years ago for the club, which is located in the south west of France.

Franck  has so far played 72 times for Toulouse with 8 goals, and this season has 25 appearances and four goals for the 11th placed Ligue 1 side.

If any of out French readers have watched this player – what’s he like?

I understand depth, but really? Another midfielder?

RE: the new kit. I’ve taken some screenshots from the e-album for those of you who can’t see it (ie: you’re working, not on a Windows computer, or you’re currently floating on a buoy in the middle of the ocean).

    Another in next post.

    And here’s the back:

Not overly fond on the shorts, and the keepers jersey stinks a bit of Spurs, but all in all I quite like it. Especially like the yellow on the keeper’s kit.

I also like the fact that the sponsor logo is stitched in – now the ba**ard won’t fall off!

It actually looks a lot better in those pictures than it did on the other picture of Nolan wearing it that came out earlier today.

I think Nolan and Benny should swap kits as it looks like Nolans is too small and Benny’s too big .LOL

i dont think its right bringing another shirt out after just 1 season……but on another note is it me or are we always getting linked with french and ivoiry coast players recently is it because they think they are going to be like tiote and b arfa? i would get ruud in me he can score as many as all of our strikers put together, yes hes old but his main target is still to play football so i would try for him def

Aye, Nolan looks a bit podgy in it like. I think it’s a shirt that should be tight rather than mid-90s loose.

I’d love to have Defoe in. England international, canny goal return… but he’s 28. Will we pay out for a 28 year old?

think he would be class well compared to ours now…..just read about the strip only 12th man and season ticket holders get the strip with gold badges on, i think that is stupid 1st of all a gold badge but then its sort of separating the supporters too in a way

To be fair, if Spurs are looking to sell I think we’d be the right level of club for the lad. Everton is probably the best he’d get, cos their strikers are cack!

    But yeah. 28, really? :/

i like the way newcastle are scouting; young, unknown players from lower leagues that have promising futures and DONT have demanding wages

thats good for money wise but we still need the experience…pl is totally different from any other league look at some of our players we have had which we got when they were promising which turned out shit and we got players in when they had proven track record and turned out to be total crap….eg jon dahl tommasson every1 said he was going to be some player and he was but not in this league, we bought the top scorer of a word cup stephen guivarce ( mind the spelling) and what did he do?????? there was a player called fumica what did he do 12 mins of football for us lol total joke plus many many more be hear all day…..think we should be very careful getting foreign players in

Defoe can only score against teams that are worse, never turns up in the big matches, not a player we want and a lil too old at 28, would be massive wages too.

Franck Tabanou is good-ish player but nothing special, and with plenty of options out there ones probs cheaper yet better.
Franck is hardly quick and his passing range is questionable sometimes not sure if he is the winger we need doesnt assist enough or score ALOT unlike Gervinho or El Erabi who come from Wingers posistions to score.

You guys still believing this stuff about bringing in decent players ?
Face it we dumped a decent player in Ireland, he wants fifty grand it`s been said, and ?
The only player we have spent at least five million on is Ben Arfa, who forced himself on the club and was such a deal we could`nt refuse.
Why ? cause we can always and probably will sell him on in the near future for a big profit.
Look at the track record, only free agents and second tier players.
So forget all those big names, with their big wage packets, thats for other sides, Ashleys here to make money .

Chuck, wait till summer then you’ll be given a chance to rephrase that little melodramatic bullshit of yours. We didn’t get Ben Arfa because he forced himself on us, don’t flatter yourself Newcastle tried very hard to get him. Mike Ashely is a rich man worth over a £bn, I’m sure he would rather just keep the club as a hobby as he said it was when he bought it and not a money making machine, and then get agro from fans and eventually lose money.
You’re a little creativity of negativity.

Chuck whatever about big names etc. Ireland is a crock. I’d have even less respect for cashley if he signed Ireland on 50k a week – in fact not doing stupid stunts like that is the best thing about Ashley – unlike Shepherd at least he doesn’t let players take the club for a mug.
