Ben Arfa Out For The Season After Training Mishap

Hatem Ben Arfa’s season may be over.

Ben Arfa – suffered a set-back in training today

There was some hope that Ben Arfa could make the last couple of games this season, so at least the lad would play again before the end of the season, following his horrific double leg fracture suffered in early October at Eastlands.

But apparently the Frenchman is reported to have had a slight mishap in training at Benton today and is probably out for the season.

Mike Williamson broke his arm today in training, and is out for the rest of the season, and now Alan Pardew has issued this statement regarding Ben Arfa:

“We think that’s probably not going to happen now. He’s had a little setback,”

“That’s what happens when you come back from that sort of injury, so I think that’s unlikely.”

It seems the Newcastle training may resemble the Navy SEALS training from all the injuries that we’ve seen come out of the Newcastle training this year.

This new news  means that today in training alone, Newcastle may have lost two players for the rest of the season.

However, in Ben Arfa’s case it may even be a good thing, because the last thing we want is for the gifted French International to return too quickly and suffer a huge  setback.

Much better that the former Marseilles star have another couple of months off, and come back ready to go in pre-season in early July.

It still may be possible for Dan Gosling to return before the end of the season, but with only three games and a little more than two weeks left now, that too may be unlikely.

Alan Pardew may still be able to find 11 fit players to turn out against Birmingham on Saturday. 😀

Comments welcome.

Dan Gosling has said today on his Twitter: “That’s it for me this season, making sure I’m 100% for July.” So he’s ruled out too, Ed.

Only thing I’ve been looking forward to, for me our season is over, was really looking forward to seeing Benny in our last 3 games.

Give him the #10 shirt and build the team around him.

I have got a question. Is Ben Arfa prone to injuries? If the answer is yes, Alan Pardew will have to sign another good attacking midfielder/wide midfielder quickly.

We really have to sort the ground out we train on, it’s clearly too hard, hopefully the undersoil heating will help. I bet it’s like training on concrete most of the year!

Maybe we should just play water polo in training instead. I blame Kuqi again. He is to blame for everything at our club at this present time!

The only thing that kept me interested this year was the thought of seeing some of the new signees. Looks like that will not happen this year as coaching has done them in. I’m not so sure any of these new boys will be EPL fit and quality ever again. MA will have to try to buy some fit players that can take the rigors of Carvers Paris Island boot camp for 9 month stints.

jwheelie12 – Exactly my thoughts, now we will all have to wait until August!!! Fu*king hell what a season of false dawns. There have been soooooo many setbacks this season it’s alarming. As for all these training injuries it’s just ridiculous that a small squad like ours never seems to overcome there injury crisis year after year. Someone isn’t doing the job right and I think it’s down to the physios or the training pitch or warm ups??

You guys heard City’s Balotelli one? Absolutely class haha!

    OOOOOOO Balotelli,
    He’s a striker,
    He’s good at darts,
An allergy to grass but when he plays he’s f#cking class,
He drives around moss side with a wallet full of cash.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-tagn3lB3I

The darts thing is because he was fined £100k for throwing darts at youth team players from a first story window.

The wallet bit is because he got stopped by police and they checked his wallet for some reason. He has 7k in there. They asked why he had that much money and he just grinned at the policeman and said i’m rich. Arrogant little bastard but funny all the same

Yeah, he’s everything that’s wrong with the modern footballer, but he’s hilarious at the same time. Did you see the bib video haha? I assume so

All great strikers have an agressive, crazy streak. Even Shearer used to nut and elbow people occasionally!

It is idiotic to say this is good because he can “rest” until the next season. The news informs that he has had a setback with the injury afte de jong’s tackle… that means that it might not be healing properly… if it is not healing properly, his career might be OVER. I wish it was another injury he picked up and not a setback of the current one. Also imagine the mental boost he would have if he could come on for just 10 minutes this season.

In my opinion Ben Arfa will struggle to play for Newcastle United next season because their injuries. People here criticise Owen because he spent most of the time with injury problems at Newcastle United. Harten Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling are going in the same way. I think Alan Pardew will have to be more careful next transfer window because we don`t want players that are prone to injuries any more.

Well said davybtoon very serious injuries what do people expect???I don’t think u can say their injury prone cause it’s the same injury while Ireland on the other hand had 3 different injuries in 3 months!!! There is a big difference
