After Jose Enrique’s interview with the BBC it wasn’t clear to us exactly what Jose was saying.
Jose Enrique – Newcastle fans expect him to leave
Jose seems to have become a bit of a politician, and there’s bits in the interview that pleased almost everybody.
If you wanted him to stay, then in the interview he said he would be happy to stay, and he also said he would be happy to move, so we’ve seen headlines out of Liverpool papers and blogs saying he’s happy to be moving to Liverpool.
One of the headlines was that he will move to Liverpool for £15M, but we just don’t believe he’ll bring that much money with just one season left on his Newcastle contract.
So since we had no idea if he was saying he was staying or going we’ve conducted a poll, and 57% think Jose will leave in the summer and only 21% think he will stay with the rest, like me, still undecided.
We’d like Jose to stay, but if he goes then Newcastle should drive the price up as much as possible and reinvest that money back into the squad in the summer.
And it’s hard to believe that Jose hasn’t yet decided what he’s going to do in the summer, and it may be better for him to come out and say if he’s going to leave, and solve the mystery.
Here’s the poll, and if you’ve already voted, and if all is working you should only see the results, and if not here’s your chance to vote in the poll.
For the record, Jose has played for Newcastle 126 times with one glorious goal.
Comments very welcome.

I’m not normally one to complain about your posts, but you post about 5 of the exact same article about Jose every week. Theres no new news about it, just the same rehashed story of Liverpool being interested.
I think we all know by now he’s gone in the summer, and I bare him no grudge if he does. He stuck with us through relegation and he’s come good.

Comment #3i think he will leave – Sad but true. Guess hes fed up with Ashley after the Carroll saga. He wants to be successfull and a club that sells their best players will struggle with that, simple!

Comment #4He wants to be at a club that have a chance of winning things in the next few years. We don’t. I don’t blame him for wanting to leave, I just hope that we can get a good sum for him.

Comment #5Why is it Newcastle always get such a raw deal?
We got 52,000 stadium and we are always known to be a sleeping giant and when woken up we could really hurt top opponents but when will we wake up.
Lets talk through my point
Man united are man united they have always been a class above everyone
Arsenal dont spend any money but yet they got a great mananger and bring some really talented players to the club
Chelsea were heading into admin yet they get roman abranomvic and he just bought time glory and a really good team
Liverpool what can i say about them when hicks and gillete came in they really struggled you could see the downfall path then hodgson who managaed them really wasnt good for them and it looked like a huge club was finally on the downfall but yet again lady luck smiled on them and they got dalglish who has been a masterstroke for them and are really on the up again with class players like suarez and carrol there little slump only lasted a a year tops and now a team to be reckoned again
Man city-what can i say about them this is a team that were heading for relegation but then come dubai and saves them and now makes them a great expensive team and look a real class act
Spurs–Spurs probably have done the best in my opinion they had a great transfer plan and it worked incredibly well they bought carrick for 3 million then sold him for 18 million they bought the likes of lennon for 2 million now is class and worth atleast 12 million they bought all the best young talent and now are having a fruthful time with it and are playing against the big clubs and doing very well indeen
So to really give u my point all these clubs apart from man united had have difficultys at some point but always came out of the worse and are in a better postion now the only 1 missing from this list is my team newcastle so yes newcastle dont ever get any lucky they never get rich owners who throw cash at buying players or they dont ever buy good players apart from ben arfa and tiote .
Newcastle could of been great but mistakes after mistakes has left us behind everyone
players like enrique and carrol would of stayed if we had a good team but we simply dont and i blame lots of people but
the main person i blame
is MR SOUNESS
how could anyone take over a top 4 club and spend 50 million plus on taking us to the next level and end up mid table
i hate u souness

Comment #6Ben Arfa – I agree with everything you say.
What I can never understand is why someone out there (Ambani perhaps?) hasn’t got the vision to see just exactly how big and successful this club could be if it were well run and well funded.
I hate Souness but have to say I hate Ashley more. I’m too old (and impatient) to have to wait another 10 years for his non existent “plan” to come to fruition.

Comment #9Yes its really a big Shame that we have lost so much ground on some things when we really shouldnt of.
My favourite memories were the sir bobby years when we went to arsenal and won 3-1 then beat leeds 4-3 and that memorable night against feynoord when we won 3-2 that will always be my fav match i be probably to young to rememeber anything below 97 so probably missed some of the keegan years.i really got into newcastle when i was 7 in 97 i remember most things from 97-2011 it has certainly been a rollcoaster ride

Comment #10Some good words there from Mr Arfa.
One of the largest mistakes ever made in football must be the day FFS saked Sir Bobby and when fans and media speculates about the new manager names like Ottmar Hitzfield were mentioned and then FFS PAYS Blackburn to get Souness – Who of course was about to get fired any day at that time. My heart was bleeding and still does..

Comment #11If Ashley wants to make this club a top 4 contender he needs to give a proper manager(not Pardew) at least 100 mill.

Comment #14the reason why no one has come n bought the club is simple ashly dosent want to sell it, i kno its hard to believe bcoz of sum of the things hes done but i truly think he wants us to b a success then he will truly get maximum value on his investment

Comment #15We have spent big in the past, with odd exceptions they all proved bad buys and we lost millions. Players like it or lump it prefer southern clubs and the London night life we have to pay over the odds to get them up north so normally only the greedy money grabbers join us and contribute F**k all.
Unless we get rich owners soon, we will continue along Ashelys plan of buy cheap and sell at a profit scheme.
Thats Life as a Newcastle fan for years to come, unless lady luck smiles on us one day, which in my years of hoping has never happened.
Still I will still be here long after the present bunch have being sold off to get the fat man even richer. If its in your blood what can you do ?

Comment #18Guys, you are aware that Mike Ashley doesn’t actually get the money from selling players right? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard XD
Personally I think he’s trying to clear all our debt (which i transfered to him now, so is interest free), and get us running at low cost, with huge income (from the every loyal fans), with the intention of selling us at a profit.
If our books were in good shape, we’d be an incredibly attractive investment – and to think Ashley was pushing for 100mil 2 years ago.

Comment #23i hate the fact were gonna loose jose, but nobody can blame him. its clear that were a selling club and he cant achieve his european goals with us! im just thankful of jose for staying with us during the relegaion season which is actually the reason for him becoming such a wanted man considering how much he has improved over the last two seasons.

Completely agree….if we had sold Smith or Perch we wouldnt be a selling club
Theres more proof we are a loaning club than a selling club but thats not as fun to moan about.

Comment #27ashley tried to keep carroll but as i see it when carroll heard about the money he was running down to liverpool lol. plus all the things that were around carroll at the time he asked for a transfer request to get away from it well i geuss anyway. we are not a selling club at all. ashley has done an amazing job for us but he has gone about it the total wrong way by pissing the fans off. jose is going but hes going because of money too i guess because of what he has said about us in the past so just let him leave he hasnt been playing well at all since it all came out he was leaving, he was trying to impress against liverpool and man u but against the likes of blackpool where was he?????? its pointless keeping an unhappy player. with what ashley has done for the clubs books more people will become interested in buying us and with hardly any debt compared to other clubs we might see the kitty with a hell of a lot of money in it but with the likes of tiote you dont need loads of money to get top players in…..would any of you pay £50m for torres i know i wouldnt. we have had too many flops with massive value and wages and we dont want that again for example we bought the next luis figo didnt we for about £17m in hugo viana and he was shit and compare him with tiote and he cost us less than £4m bargin.

Comment #28I think people just have this crazy idea that Ashley actually keeps the money from the tranfers himself haha. Just look at the clubs books guys – they’re available to get. And if you dont understand it all, dont make ridiculous assumptions.
The slug is doing what he does to all his businesses. He’s stripped the club down to its bare bones, running at very low costs, and now building us back up from there.
I just hope that if we dont get money from player sales, its because he’s clearing our debt with him with a view to sell.

Comment #29I think we’re being rebuilt from the bottom up. Debts cleared and the squad improved a small piece at a time. I think the reason the Carroll money is likely to be reinvested in the squad (fingers crossed) is because it was a windfall that nobody at the club expected.
Plans were already in place for what was going to happen financially of the next five years and the suddenly there’s an extra £35m on the table. Of course, we had just pawned off our main attacking threat, so there’s nowhere else for that money to be spent than on replacements.
I know there will be those who are scceptical, but I think we’ll have a good summer as far as transfers go. I really don’t mind which league or country the players come from, as long as they’re committed and, most importantly, good enough.
Regards Enrique, his answers in his interview were extremely well thought out, so as not to upset anyone. I don’t think he’s made up his mind, but if he has, and he’s leaving, then I hope we get two decent left backs in his place and I just pray to God we don’t sell him to that thieving bunch from Merseyside.
I suppose if the worst comes to the worst, we can always have a chuckle when he and Big Andy get their houses robbed when they’re away on those big European trips they moved on for.

Comment #30BenArfa: totally agreed with you mate.
Just want to add on:
1) we change manager that frequently. Thus make in unattractive for players (young and good one) to come here. They want to play for a “stable” club
2) 52,000 fans per week is good to have, but players are interested in winning medal
3) Mike Ashley in running the club. He might force the good players out
