Newcastle Fans Not Impressed With New Home Strip

The new Puma home strip was officially revealed yesterday and it hasn’t  gone down too well with Newcastle fans.

Kevin Nolan – wearing new strip – why the yellow and where’s the blue?

We have an active poll going, with over 1700 voters so far – you are allowed only one vote – and 57% don’t like the new strip with 30% liking it and the rest not sure.

The major problem with the strip seems to be  the lack of stripes, with only one black stripe at the front – and why the yellow in the Newcastle crest and the Puma emblem?

Newcastle fans will tell you they have earned their strips – and don’t like them being taken away. 😀

We always thought the pale blue was a great third color for the Newcastle strip – as you can tell from our web-site design – but so far Puma have not used any of the pale blue at all in any of the two strips they have so far produced for Newcastle.

The Puma contract only lasts through next season, and you have to hope a couple of things will happen after that.

One is that Newcastle will negotiate a much better financial deal from Puma – if the club stays with them – now Newcastle are back where they belong in the Premier League.

And the second is that if Newcastle retain Puma, then the German manufacturer will come up with some much better looking strips – and get that beautiful pale blue color back on the strips somewhere.

This new strip has not captured the Newcastle fans’ imagination – and that’s probably putting it mildly.

With that strange yellow strip last season, and the same yellow coming back into the strips for next season, is yellow Mike Ashley’s favorite color?

Update: After this story was first published one of our readers, ElvenKind, has said the yellow trim is only a limited edition for season ticket holders (?),and the actual strip to be worn next season is shown below:

That makes me feel a little better – it looked like we were going towards the Juventus strip – which of course has yellow as the third major color.

Here’s the active poll which will show the results if you’ve already voted- if not here’s your chance to vote.

I don’t care what it looks like, I care what players we will have wearing it!

What will away kit and 3rd be like? They are normally nicer anyway.

I’m not impressed at all. The strip is gash and the long-sleeved version looks like a jockey’s top.

The yellow/golden badge is only a limited edition Ed, for members and season ticket holders only apparently.

Apparently only the membership holders special shirts have the awful yellowish badge like, so at least thats abit of a plus.

I don’t mind the strip too much overall though. However I think I’ll be sticking with this seasons.

First off Ed, thats the ‘Gold’ version you are showing & thats not what non-member fans can buy,… the normal strip has a standard crest & red puma from what I’ve seen….

Another thing, how can the say the fans don’t like it when I’m sure more than 1700 fans go to the home matches & I can bet that more than 1700 will buy the new kit, I know I will be….

If we stay with Puma, maybe they should send out or add a page to the match day mag, asking fans to send in their own designs for consideration, but even then some fans will moan no matter what the strip looks like…. the club can’t win at anything they do…

I can just imagine if Ashley dared to increase the ticket prices the same as the bigger clubs have done but then again, it doesn’t matter what the man does or tries, some will always moan!!!!

‘but so far Puma have not used any of the pale blue at all in any of the two strips they have so far produced for Newcastle.’

It is used on the away and alternate one, so i think itll be used on both again this season and thats why it isnt on the home one again.

I think its one of the best for a while, looks like an foreign teams strip.

The long sleeve one looks smart on Tiote.

Aslong as Ameobi and Lovenkrands are not running around upfront in it next season im happy 😀

Beat me to it. The one to be worn by the players can be found in the shop (https://www.medocmall.co.uk/images/theclubshop_nufc/products/large/enlarge/310005.jpg).

Looks like the Puma will still be in gold though.

I like it.What is the back of it like though as too many are spoilt by that big white square.I know they have to put the name and number their but surely if they use their imagination and put black on white and white on black it would improve it.Or put the name where the sponsors name is but on the back, and the number on twice as in top left bottom right, and be more modern and trend setting.Or is there rules about size of number?

As someone observed on another site the new shirt looks like ‘no overtaking/double white lines’ on a newly tarmaced road.

I have the current white 3rd shirt and IMO the quality is poorer than previous shirts and the iron on badge is inferior to a stitched crest.

Love the club – dislike the strip.

Said it before and il say it again we should be the first club and puma to either put out a few kit choices and let the fans choose or release a kit design programe on our website and hold a competion and let the fans poll for the winner with best design we are the fans, we pay for the kits, we wear them why not let us design them?

Without Nolan acting like the incredible Hulk(now there is a player) and bursting out of his shirt i think it isn’t too bad really. The lack of stripes is odd, but the sleeves are white and the extra black at the sides match it. The black trim around the collar and sleeves do look a bit cheapo however and that puma emblem should be replaced by a tick.

Anything, any design will do for me. 70s or 80s style, what ever. Just love it. As long as it is in white & black stripes.

Concern just about the players who to wear it. They must earn it with pride & ever willingly play to win games@a trophy for us fans. For that we ought to buy more decent players for out 1st team like HBA, Tiote & to eventually replace players like, er, we all know who.

NUFC`s colors are black and white stripes, in various combinations.
This is allmost entirely black, with what appears to be a cross on the front and three tails at the back.
It`s awfull, worse than the mustard and cream one.
Whoever designed and approved it should look for another profession, because it shows a coplete lack of any kind of taste or fashion sense.
Can we please get back to being NUFC and perhaps produce something retro.
I realise it`s a moneymaker for both Ashleys shops and the club, but howeh man! gis somethin a can wear withoot being embarrassed like !

OH SH*T !!!!!! Ben Arfa set back!!! AGAIN!!! I am afraid we won’t see this kid until August. Willo broken arm as well! WTF is going on in our training?? Apparently Willo had a ‘freak accident in the gym’- how on earth did he break his arm doing weights?? Poor Benny I bet the lad must feel like he’s forgotten how to kick a ball. I was desperately waiting to see him play for us again this season I guess we will all have to wait until next season for that sadly. 🙁

In the Coca Cola league, we had a sweet wrapper away kit. That was bad enough.

Now our home kit makes us look silly, especially with the white sleeves.

Our new kit design must surely demoralise some of our players. HBA does not look too enthusiastic. hahaha

Also how can you say it had no stripes are you guys blind? From left to right thick black stripe the thin white, thin black, thin white then thick black. How does that not constitute as stripes? Just because it has thicker sections? And if you want to really look into it the arms are part of the stripe pattern. White sleave into black body.
