When Newcastle put in a so so performance last week when many of them didn’t even look they had turned up for the game, we feel sorry for the loyal dedicated traveling Newcastle fans.
Alan Pardew – we hope he’s doing this after Birmingham game
We are in awe of those supporters who travel to each game and represent the Newcastle passion on the road, and it’s something my late father used to do in the 1950s – he never missed a game in the first half of that decade when Newcastle won three FA Cup Finals in five years – 1951, 1952 and 1955.
So we think the Newcastle players even owe the Geordie fans a gutsy all out performance against Birmingham on Saturday, and if they can do that we should find some way of scoring and possibly winning that game.
And that would be only the 5th win in the last 19 games and only the 3rd win in the last 17 games – and my arm just started to hurt. đ
Alan Pardew seems deft at being able to read the feelings of Newcastle fans, and they were not too happy with the display at Anfield last week, and this is what Alan had to say to the local Newcastle Press Corps today:
âWe lost to Liverpool who are an up-and-coming team â and a team in form.” âThe major criticism of us in the fall-out from that game was that we didnât look bothered.”
âI donât think that was the case, but we certainly were not on the same level as we were against Manchester United.” âWe now have to answer the questions that have been put to us.”
âThe aim is to put in a committed display for the fans and those fans who traveled in great numbers to Liverpool.â  âWe havenât done that too many times this season, so to get another double would be a good target for us.
âItâs more important to finish in the top 10.â âWeâve got two home games and a very difficult away game at Chelsea.” âBut we see this as a chance to improve our home record against Birmingham and West Brom.â
Yes we know Alan didn’t say passionate display – we put that one in in case some of the players are reading the headline. đ
Newcastle’s big problem is scoring goals of course and in six of the last 12 games they failed to find the back of the net.
We hope our two strikers Shola Ameobi and Peter Lovenkrands, will take the game on Saturday very seriously and play a determined and fully committed game, and try to put that ball in the back of the net, and after all, Birmingham’s defense is very porous.
A win on Saturday will go a long way to lifting the spirits of the folks on Tyneside, and then the lads can go all out in the last game of the season two weeks on Sunday, against WBA, and could end up with 47 points on the season with those two home wins.
And that wouldn’t be too bad at all – a good end to a successful season!
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #41I’m looking forward to STaylor showing us how clumsy he is. He was the worst player on the pitch against Aston Villa. I will never understand why people on this site think he’s a good player. He is not better than Williamsson. I hope we sell him in the summer đ

I think we’d be perfect or him, as he wouldn’t get first team football at spurs or Liverpool.
But it’d be a gamble for us, as I can see him costing over 10m.
Also, Spurs can offer MONEY :P. We cannot.

Comment #44And davy, glad you mentioned Puncheon & Larsson.
Too many people think we’re too good for them. But I think they need to realise that we’re not the team we were 10 years ago.

Comment #45If we can get Van Arnhalt back as rumoured it would ease the pain a bit as he is quality and can defend!
Shame about Willo…I think I’d play Slo Cambell before Taylor!

Comment #47Sorry chaps i don’t care what rumours are going around or whats in the papers, whatever handshakes have been done can be easily undone. I was luckily enough to be sat at a table with Peter Beardlseyafter a champonship game just afther the january transfer window last year and he was telling people the Beckford deal was done with newcastle and he was coming to newcastle in the summer. As we know he went to everton. Since then i’ve accepted not to believe anything as the people who sign the cheques can easily change their minds at the last minute.
