Newcastle Can Cross Gervinho Off Their Transfer List

Ivory Coast International Gervinho, of French club Lille, has come out today and says he only wants to join a club in the Champions League.

Gervinho – wants Champions League football next season

Lille are still well placed in the French league, currently at the very top, and will likely qualify for the European Champions League next season.

They are currently just one point above Marseilles with 5 league games still to play, and have a superior goal difference to the reigning French Champions.

This is what Gervinho told Sky Sports:

“I am trying my best to concentrate on the final push for the league,”  “We want to win the championship. Also, we are in the cup final.”

“At the end of the season, me and my advisors will speak to the club and see what to do but if I am leaving a club which will play in the Champions League, I will only go to one who is in the Champions League.”

“It’s the best competition and I want to be a part of that set-up every year.”

Gervinho has 14 goals in 29 starts for Lille so far this season, and has 25 goals in a total of 54 appearances for the club.

And of course if he stays put at Lille he will have Champions League football next season.

But that will not happen because the 23 year-old will want to big wages that come with joining a club in England or one of the other top European leagues.

Gervinho has 19 appearances for the Ivory Coast with 5 goals.

Newcastle can cross this player off the list is if he is adamant of only joining a club who have qualified for European Champions League football.

That will not be Newcastle for many seasons down the road.

old news, tell us something we didn’t know !!
Was never going to happen, Carlton cole here we come or wait a minute no that really speedy winger larson on a free !!! can’t believe these people who have bought 10 years season tickets, unless they are speculating on a take over, but would any new owner take that on where the revenue income has already been paid up front? Does anyone know how that works?

From the beginning of when we are linked with gervinho, i know this is just one of our dream

there is no way he will switch from a champion league team to a mid table team.

PESSIMISTICLy – in the end we will sign player like c.cole quality

I agree Atlintop would be a great free signing, would be better than Larson and probably Barton!

Rotonda – the way I read the 10 year deal you don’t pay 10 years all at once (I think you do for the 3 year one) so the sign-up could actually help the sale in a way – they could show guaranteed future income. Is that right, anybody?

didn’t like his haircut anyways.. how long can he fool himself until he has to shave it off?

Lets go for his teammate Eden Hazard instead.

Earlier on in blog everyone was slating bendtner I think he would be a good player in a team like ours where he is the no.1 striker problem is he is on 50k now without actually proving himself, n the attitude problem is he thinks he’s the best player ever- I seem to remember a mr. Barton claiming to be the best English midfielder at the moment n Indian toon wasn’t claiming to stop being a fan then

nimo .. problem with bendtner is he is an average prem striker .. but lazy and misses sitters .. he’s better than ameobi but not by much .. and he’ll cost 12+ mill and high wages .. IMO stay well away..

magpie6699, I heard it was 10 years monthly payments, direct debit. So guaranteed income for 10 years. Canny deal that for any prospective buyers.

I think we’re competing with spurs on him .. so we should stay well away from defoe and crouch etc so we can get him instead..

    Bonjour messieurs.

Well, i’m not surprised for Gervinho. In fact, i don’t believe any player mentioned before will join the club.

For a simple reason. Everybody know NUFC got a lot of money for the summer market.

So, in this kind of situation, you got to mislead others.

If i was NUFC chief scout, i would work silently, and time to time, i would give false name to the Media.

As we said in french for such matter

“Ceux qui parlent ne savent pas et ceux qui savent ne parlent pas.”

carrollsinger .. not sure on defoe .. could do a good job but he’s too greedy and if he doesn’t score he doesn’t contribute to the team .. still hes a good finisher but thats about it ..
the other players I’ll like ..

    My thoughts exactly !!!

Oh well back to the likes of Kuqi it is then. I thought pardew was joking about signing Kuqi.
The joke will wear very thin if konchesky and C.Cole turn up.

Loving the phrase niafron, this is so true of Graham Carr just quietly getting on with his work, it is of course the papers that know nothing.

Wickham is too expensive, in many games he has been annoymous, a RAW talent nonetheless but should be the striker we need at the moment if we buy 2 strikers then (Maybe)

    Nia

We are stupid because we ALWAYS make transfer targets known and ALWAYS miss out, then Pardwho will give his excuses like “Was too hard to buy players etc.. etc..”
They want to use this as the excuse of missing out on a target not because they rejected us because of Wages or Lack of ambition.

@Nimo he is rubbish 2 goals this season and before that last season he has 6 goals he is pathetic and doesnt work for the team at all and missed 6 times outta 7 waste of 1M let alone anything over that, he has good height but we have Strolla so no use for another crap striker.

as long as carr knows the positions we need ..

    1st choice CB
    RB to challenge simpson
LB cover for Enrique.. maybe also replacement for enrique, would have to be top quality(not konchesky)
    LW,RW,2 strikers .. all 1st choice
