Newcastle’s Transfer Ambitions May Not Be Good Enough

We are stunned to read that Alan Pardew may be even thinking about bringing Carlton Cole to Newcastle.

Paul Konchesky – Liverpool reject

As we pointed out yesterday,  Shola Ameobi has a better scoring record than Carlton Cole in club football, and may even be a better player too, so that’s at least one very good reason Newcastle shouldn’t even consider bringing Cole to Tyneside.

Yes, we know managers look back on their former players, and then are tempted to bring them to the club they are currently managing, but another story today is that Pardew may want to bring Paul Konchesky to Newcastle in place of Jose Enrique.

Bobby Robson was interested in Paul, but that was about eight years ago when he looked a decent prospect.

Paul turns 30 next week, and hardly fits the profile of players Newcastle are usually after – younger players who can still improve at Newcastle.

If Konchesky is brought in to replace Jose Enrique, and Carlton Cole is brought in to replace Andy Carroll, you will not have to tell the Newcastle fans anything.

They will know immediately by these moves, that the club’s ambitions are limited – very limited – and it will hardly go over well with fans who want to see Newcastle back with the big boys again. You need good players to do that.

These two players have never been top players ever, and they are not going to improve if they ever arrive at Newcastle – so what’s the point?

While we understand Alan may be looking at some of his former players to bring to Tyneside, he should significantly increase his standards regarding the class of player he is looking to bring to Newcastle this summer – if these two stories are true.

We cannot just bring in free agents or players that Newcastle can get on the cheap – that will not be good enough by a country mile.

In short, Konchesky and Cole are simply not good enough to be brought to Newcastle.

What do you think of these two players?

Comments welcome.

I used to rate Konchesky when he was in the England U21 set up. Always thought he would turn out very well, however, he seems far too hesitant these days, and that’s a bad sign for a defender. Personnaly, I think we should be looking towards Holland & Belgium for more bargains, ala Chieke Tiote.

In all fairness we were linked with every player at Southampton during January none came and no evidence was shown that they had actually been considered.

Konchesky has no sell on value so Ashley wouldnt sanction it. Same with Cole and neither have quality to be considered a bargin.

Easy way to rule out which links are bull*hit imo if they dont have re-sale value or quality then they arent being considered.

Ed if you read this please stop actually thinking that any transfer rumor in newspapers are all made up.

Pardew has already said that we arent getting players over 26 and are getting players will sell on value.

You are having a go at Mike Ashley and Pardew saying they have limited ambition if they sign Carton Cole or Konchesky but its not even true.

A jornalist has just completely made this up out of the blue like with every other transfer rumor we have been linked with.

Its all bollocks and i dont know why you actually believe some of the stupid transfer rumors in the newspapers

    Datz wat are sayn.
Liverpool’s chances of signing Newcastle United star Jose Enrique have been boosted after Alan Pardew made it known he would be interested in signing Paul Konchesky as a replacement for the Spaniard, can reveal. Enrique is Liverpool’s first choice to solve the club’s problem left- back position in the summer and Newcastle’s interest in Reds defender Konchesky raises the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal.

JAMSHA – I wouldn’t believe anything which goal say. They always make mistakes in their reports, like constantly and are always anti-Newcastle.

You can tell that that report is bullsh!t when they say “Pardew has been promised he can spend all of the ?35m received from Andy Carroll’s sale to Liverpool in January.”

don’t believe any of their shiiiit

Crawfood, looks a good squad if we can get all of them, but I doubt we’d be able to get M’bengue for £3million, since we’ve had more than that rejected.

If we couldn’t get Parker then maybe we should try to sign Adams?

You’d stop supporting NUFC because of Bendtner’s attitude? AHEM Barton, Ben Afra, Carroll(had) and Ranger all have HUGE attitude problems. Why are you still supporting NUFC with them in the squad (barring Carroll) if attitude is your priority?

I’m glad to read some realistic quotes here, amidst a sea of angry idiots.

Ed this article, based on some trash written on an AWFUL website, looks like it’s written solely to make people angry, which really isn’t the way to go mate. We need some positivity at the moment.

Also, Graham Hunter (who is always correct) said that “Liverpool have already struck a deal for a Spanish left back” – has a little more tact that Phil Nose Thompson.

So problems with the article :
    1) It’s on a website renowned for making things up.
    2) There’s no quotes, not even from an “inside source” haha.
    3) Konchesky is about 45, he’d cost us a couple of million, and in 3 years Ashley could sell him for nothing more than a YoYo.
    4) Article says Pardew has been promissed 35 million – nonsense.
    5) Article says that the teams haven’t made contact about Enrique – nonsense.

    Need I go on?
