Improvements Already Being Made At Newcastle – Pardew

It was a good win on Saturday for Newcastle, and completely guarantees Premier League football for Newcastle next season.

Alan Pardew – improvements already being made

Newcastle can now relax in that their financial plan is safe, and the club will keep getting the huge TV money coming in that’s generated from the exciting and hugely popular Premier League games shown around the world.

Alan Pardew talked about safety today and some improvements already being made:

“Is important for the club that the fans have gone home with a win, they know we are safe with two games to go,”

“And the owner can rest assured we have Premier League money coming in next year, and we can all look to building for next year,”

“We are already making big developments at the training ground and there has not been investment in that area before, that gives a sign hopefully of what is to come.”

“Half the training ground has been taken off the top for under-soil heating to go in, and we are going to do the bottom half as well.

“The facilities are going to be upgraded and improved and these things are important, it sends out the right message to everybody.”

We were told yesterday by Alan Pardew that he’s got owner Mike Ashley fully involved in the transfer market already, and that Mike is talking directly with agents.

Presumably some of that could be negotiations for some free agents, and we are still hoping a couple of them can be signed and announced once the season finishes.

Swedish International Seb Larsson could be one of them, and there are others that Newcastle have already been linked with.

The announcement that Newcastle have signed a couple of free agents shortly  after the season ends, would certainly set the right tone for the summer transfer market.

Seb Larsson can whistle… didn’t want to come to us in the Jan window so why now? Oh yea because Birmingham are crap!

On another note, did anyone watch that documentary with Lord Sugar last night and the interview with Shearer? Talking about loyalty and that….

Sammy, the deal to sign Larsson was all but done in January but Birmingham pulled out. Nothing to do with Larsson. Actually one of the main reasons he’s leaving them this summer is that they’ve arsed around with him too much.

After the Brum game I’m thinking Seb would get a frosty reception from soe of our players as he clashed with a few (esp Jonas) and spent half the match sulking.

Im starting to really dread this transfer window. At first, mentions of Gervinho, Sow, Wendt etc I was quite optimistic. Slowly all the good players have said they are better than NUFC saying they want to play in Spain or CL.

Now we are being linked with Carlton Cole, Konchesky, Reo-Coker. Even if we do get to spend the full judas money we will buy 35mill worth of sh!t. I dont trust Pardew with that kind of money he’s linked with all the washed up players he has worked with before, he will want to bring Harewood back next.

Fair enough its all paper talk but some of them do happen. Maybe I’m just worrying but anything is possible under the reign of fat ashley.

I remember ed posted an article just after the window closed saying the clubs had agreed a £1.5m deal and the player had accepted the contract from us, then birmingham pulled out of the deal at the last minute.

Larssons agent came out straight after the window to say he’d be leaving in the summer on a free as he’d been mistreated.

    @Geordie-Gerrard7
Reo-Coker could be a great free signing. He could help cover Tiote from the games he misses but could also play with him against teams when we are defending and need a solid CM pairing.
Elmander – not so sure, he looks good in spells. However if we got him and another good striker (e.g. Sturidge) that could leave us with Sturidge, Ben Arfa as starters and then Best, Elmander, Ranger, as options. Ameobi and Loenkrands can then be moved on as they are not good enough for us to move forward.

I would say your reasons that roe-Coker would be a great signing are exact.

And I think elmander would be a great squad player.

    @Geordie-Gerrard7

To be fair if we can get a few free players in that can bulk up the squad (Reo-Coker and Elmander etc…) then that will allow us to use the tranfer budget to then improve the 1st team.
Its easy to see out squad really needs to be bigger if we want to challenge next season and have a bit good cup run.

I think Reo Coker and Elmander are OK signings…. sometimes moves like this rejuvenate players such as Scott Parker & Pennant….. I wouldn’t be happy forking out money for these people tho….

What about Ba from West Ham?

Expect the worst. Ashley is twice as rich as liverpools owner (let’s compare ambitions) & today it was announced that his personal fortune has increased by 384 million pounds in the past year. There’s a good reason he’s loaded- he spends nowt. He talked about us becoming the next Arsenal but he’s dreaming, at best we could become an Everton- but even that will take years to materialise.

Like Pardew before he came here I’m “aware” of Reo-coker without being too au-fait with how good he is…. whenever I’ve seen him in an interview he’s always been pretty well spoken, sounds like he’s got 1/2 a brain (more than can be said of most)

My mum’s a villa fan and doesn’t rate him in the slightest tho (doesn’t say alot – she loved milner and was first to jump on the houllier bandwangon at the start of the season…)

for some reason tho I can’t see NRC in a toon shirt tho, same with elmander, reckon we’re more likely to get some unknown / rough diamond from the continent / lower leagues

Yeah Pardew said during Jan window he had no interest in Reo Cocker.

Whether that has changed or not who knows.

The way I see it is the more decent free transfers we get in as squad players, the more money we have to play with when we’re bringing in the first teamers.

I’d take Seb Larsson, Elmander and if possible Twaio(?).

I’m not sure on NRC as ive never paid him much attention before.

ur right stuart we need squad players on free for back up so we can use the transfer money to improve the quality of the squad

but stuart think twaio has already agreed a contract with one of the milan teams

I’m thinking that lads like HBA were pups that were impressed by Newcastle when it was playing in Europe. So, this window is an opportunity to latch onto some of those lads. In a few years, the youngsters coming up will not have ever seen NUFC in Europe and therefore not have any favorable opinion of the Toon. Strike while the iron is still hot MA!

Fair one toonfan09, I knew it was a very long shot getting Twaio like.

To be honest if Enrique leaves the best player I think we could get would be Baines from Everton. Good, prem proven quality player.

Everton are in all sorts of financial trouble at the minute and I think they would accept around £7m-£8m.

Agree with you but the only doubt I have is the free transfers coming in and taking a higher wage due to them being free. I wouldnt want us to fill up on squad players on high wages…weve seen how well that goes down!

I know what you mean but I think the free transfers we’ve been looking at dont particularly have high wages at their current clubs, eg Larsson/elmander.

I’m sure both of them would be on between £25k-£35k a week if they came here.

I’m concerned that Pards keeps harping on about the training ground improvements like it was some big deal! Yes it’s important but should be done anyway at our level.

What he should be telling us is that we are gonna invest BIG in the team; and I dont mean journeymen like Larson , Elmander and Reo Coker.

We’ve got players like HBA and Tiote and Barton. That’s the level of quality we need, not second rate players.

Come on Pards; you’ve got the basis of a quality team with great spirit. Make a name for yourself and push Ashley to build on it 🙂
