News today that Newcastle are interested in 21 year-old Jose Salomon Rondon.
Jose Salomon Rondon – 21 year-old Venezuelan striker
The Venezuelan international has had a terrific seaosn and has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances for his club Malaga this season. Malaga are currently 13th in the 20 team Spanish league.
The 6’1″ forward fits exactly the profile of players Newcastle will be wanting to bring to Tyneside in the summer, and there have been reports in the Spanish press linking the Caracus born youngster with Newcastle.
Rondon started his career with Aragua FC in 2006, back in Venezuela, where he played 49 times with 15 goals.
He then moved to Spain in 2008, and joined Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands and in Spain’s second division, where he scored 10 goals in 46 games, from 2008 until 2010.
Last summer he left Las Palmas to join Malaga for a fee of £3.5M, and he has been outstanding for his club this season.
It seems to us this lad could be a decent signing for Newcastle, and maybe the Tyneside club could get him for around £5M?
Rondon seems to be down to earth as he was asked about his future and he replied:
“I’m doing my job.” “I am grateful to the club and focused on trying to score goals.”
Of course Newcastle have already been linked with a multitude of players and the transfer doesn’t even open for a few more weeks yet.
If there are any readers in Spain who have watched Rondon, maybe they can report on how good he is.
The youngster already has 11 caps for Venezuela with 4 goals, and has played 136 club games with 46 goals so far in his career.
