Newcastle Reported Keen On Venezuelan International Striker

News today that Newcastle are interested in 21 year-old Jose Salomon Rondon.

Jose Salomon Rondon – 21 year-old Venezuelan striker

The Venezuelan international has had a terrific seaosn and has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances for his club Malaga this season. Malaga are currently 13th in the 20 team Spanish league.

The 6’1″ forward fits exactly the profile of players Newcastle will be wanting to bring to Tyneside in the summer, and there have been reports in the Spanish press linking the Caracus born youngster with Newcastle.

Rondon started his  career with Aragua FC in 2006, back in Venezuela, where he played 49 times with 15 goals.

He then moved to Spain in 2008, and joined Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands and in Spain’s second division, where he scored 10 goals in 46 games, from 2008 until 2010.

Last summer he left Las Palmas to join Malaga for a fee of £3.5M, and he has been outstanding for his club this season.

It seems to us this lad could be a decent signing for Newcastle, and maybe the Tyneside club could get him for around £5M?

Rondon seems to be down to earth as he was asked about his future and he replied:

“I’m doing my job.” “I am grateful to the club and focused on trying to score goals.”

Of course Newcastle have already been linked with a multitude of players and the transfer doesn’t even open for a few more weeks yet.

If there are any readers in Spain who have watched Rondon, maybe they can report on how good he is.

The youngster already has 11 caps for Venezuela with 4 goals, and has played 136 club games with 46 goals so far in his career.

Comments welcome.

Seems like a good buy. I have seen him a fair few times this seasons, and looks good, but still plenty of room to improve him.

    Hell yes!

    29 games – 14 goals – 2 assists

Pretty much single handedly dragged Malaga to mid-table (well… 13th). He’s young, has loads of potential and affordable. He’s Ashley’s wet dream!

Finally a believable one! A 1:2 goal ratio in a fairly poor team is not to be sniffed at.

I’m gob smacked that Liverpool are not interested in this guy seeing as they are interested in every other player that we seem to to scouting, not to mention pretty much all of the toon squad.

toonfan09, with the money Liverpool spend on players. I’m surprised they can afford scouts.

Sturridge, Rondon, Taarabt and Lens; all for the price of a frail, anti-football lump? I would hardly believe our luck if we could pull that off – sound as a pound!

LoonytoonyMagpieMan : Shola Ameobi is the “BEST” amongst his brother, i am sure the rest is below Shola’s standard.

£5M is not expensive,i support buy Jose Salomon Rondon.Although we don’t know about him.
he is better than Connor Whickham.Do you think
Connor Whickham is worth more than £10M?

Seen him on TV couple of times. Fairly good young player. Doubt that he´s available, though.

Malaga are owned by a Quatari Sheik who´s expected to pump money in to the club.

If we are talking about him, then Rondon is probably not coming to us. He sounds interesting but maybe too young to be put under huge pressure right away. We need someone 24-25 with best years ahead but lots of experience. Easier said than done I guess but there are a world of football players out there. Liverpool are flying without Carroll. Are they going to make drastic changes to build around him now? I doubt it. I get the feeling another move is not far off. Maybe Arsenal. They were useless against Stoke especially with set pieces and AC can be very good with defensive headers as well as a powerful centre forward. Just a thought. Maybe a sell-on fee for us?

people with the stats then say yes cmon lads think……all the players we have signed and were flops we signed a world cup golden boot winner and he couldnt score in a brothel. and many more we have to see what they have done in their last 2 or 3 seasons to see if the are consistent not just because they have had a good season.

From the little I have seen of Sammy Ameobi, We need him on the pitch and his lummox of a sibling to carry the magic sponge and clean the boots of the under 11s.

This Rondon kid looks good, especially playing as he plays on the last defender good price at £5M.

Would like to see us go for:
    Marvin Martin – creative midfield
Blaise Matuidi – defence midfield (could play 5 in the middle as this guy with Tiote would be awesome)
    Dimitri Payet – goalscoring winger
    Elmander – Free
    Samba – £7M??
Papiss demba Cisse – striker, 22 goals in German league this season
    Ricky van Wolfswinkel
Kolbeinn Sigþórsson – 15 goals in Holland this season
    Ola Toivonen
Modibo Maiga – 13 goals in ligue 1
    Youssef El-Arabi – 17 goals in ligue 1 in a team thats 5th bottom

Striker wise i think we should concentrate our attention getting one or two of either Cisse, Toivonen or El-Arabi

Also heard a rumour that Liverpool are interested in Gael Clichy from Arsenal they cant get him and Enrique so hopefully they go for Clichy. Lets hope its a good summer in the transfer window for the toon!!

Brutoon, why do you hate Ameobi so much? Do you take pleasure from being such a pessimistic fan? He’s been a loyal servant to the club and has scored in every season including in the champions league. Yes he’s a little consistent and has his injury problems but he’s done a lot better than you will do/ever will. Does this mean that on the 9 occasions he has scored you haven’t celebrated? Of course you have. Grow up and appreciate that you have a loyal strong player.
