Make Up Your Mind Time For Jose Enrique

Alan Pardew is looking to get an answer from Jose Enrique, on where his aspirations lie for next season.

Jose Enrique – make up your mind time

That’s only reasonable because if Jose elects to stay on Tyneside, and that seems a small chance right now, Newcastle will hardly need to bring in a new left back for next season, with young Shane Ferguson coming though every nicely on Tyneside.

Jose said that he would hold contract talks with Newcastle only when the club were safe in the Premier League.

And that happened on Saturday with Newcastle’s fine 2-1 win over Birmingham, a club that will represent England in the Europa Cup next season.

There have been persistent rumors that Liverpool have already done a deal for the player, but Alan Pardew has denied there’s any deal been made by the two clubs.

It seems that Liverpool are after Newcastle’s best players, having seen Andy Carroll leave in January, and former Newcastle manager Kenny Dalglish has said this week that Liverpool have already started their transfer business.

And Kenny is trying to do a Harry Redknapp, by trying to offload unwanted 29 year-old Paul Konchesky in part exchange (plus cash) for Jose, but that would be a terrible deal for Newcastle, and we shouldn’t take it.

If Jose goes then Newcastle need to bring in a top class left back to replace him.

If you’d like to send Jose a message to stay on Tyneside, you can tell him here.

I suppose there’s still at least some chance he could stay.

Comments welcome.

I hope Enrique stays, but if he’s already decided to leave he needs to let AP no out of respect for Newcastle otherwise he is stalling our transfer activity and stalling young SF’s progress. But I really hope he stays, who better for SF to learn of than Enrique.

I think he wants to move on. He has done right by us by staying put and helping us regain prem status, and has helped us keep it, so I won’t hold it against him if he wants bigger chalenges. Good luck jose whatever u decide

He got to think iswel will he ever find a better partner to play along side than Jonas, Jonas makes Enrique look good and Enrique makes Jonas look good by covering and working together so good, Enrique’s form might drop elsewhere with no one to cover him.

    Place your bets now…

I’d love to think Enrique will stay and I think he genuinely loves us fans and our club but his head’s quite obviously been turned and once that’s happened, especially for Enrique who is still a young lad, then usually the writings’ on the wall.

Grass is always greener scenario unfortunately. Those of us who’ve been round the block a couple more times know that it very rarely works like that however and he might never get the adoration he gets here wherever he ends up.

I really hope I’m proven wrong though. He’s a cracking left back and would be almost impossible to replace. Who else is skillful enough, strong enough and experienced enough to come in (not to mention cheap enough to fit Ashley’s plans) ?

    Answers on a postcard please.

Simple answer dan, no one. The only club who will get that lot in one left back will be the club that takes jose away from us, he is a unique player.

He is 90% gone, the other 10% is a part of him that wishes to stay but is worried about the owner who even the players don’t have any faith in to re-invest similar to Liverpool and to move together up the table because of it. I don’t think the investment will be made to a figure they would like Jose would like the club to spend more than they sold to move foward but we spend around less than half of it, on players (past) best or championship quality.

If they spend it wisely bring in 4+ QUALITY players, Jose,Barton,Nolan will all sign on, IF NOT then they may all leave, then if people like Colo/Tiote see Jose and the lot go they may leave too so a very important window coming up for KEEPING our best and brining in better players than we have atm.

I’m optimistic that we can with help from Scouts but worried we wont build enough to push on next year and other would want to leave us.

does it actually matter?? so pardew tells him to make up his mind and lets just say he signs a three year deal, i doubt he will sign a five year deal, if in August a big club tables a bid hes gone…. we may get a bit more money for him but i wouldnt imagine it being a whole lot more.

Id like him to stay but i think unless we sign some quality players and not just squad players hes out the door….. and I honestly couldnt blame him. Best of luck to him if he goes, right now we need players that are going to take joey bartons/nolan/enrique/ben arfas places…. thats how a squad becomes competitive and grows, it make the afore mentioned players step their games up, increasing their performances to get into the squad.

Im not counting on it with about 15 million to spend, but hey thats life being a newcastle fan…. were the “if only” group

It´s about money and glory (to a smaller extent), something NUFC can not provide.

    He´s gone.

Ive not seen too many decent left backs during my 30 odd years of watching to the toon.
Beresford was always my favourite, but i have to say Enrique is by far the best left back ive seen wear the black and white, infact hes been the best left back in the PL this season, Cole, Evra and Clichy all having indifferent seasons.

But the lad stuck by us and we stuck by him after both of us having poor seasons together. He was arguably the best defender in the CCC last season and has upped his game again this season to another level.

But unlike Carroll, he deserves to make his ow choice and will be remembered fondly by this fan and alway welcomed at SJP. Hope you stay Jose, but understand if you leave.

Even if he signed don’t seem to mean a thing thesedays. Also I reckon we’ll see AC back playing at SJP one day, I think he’ll be back a better all round player. Hope fans don’t hold it against him too much. He had to make a choice with a set of circumstances none of us might ever really get to know about. Lets be fair the way CH was disposed of hardly inspires much cofindence. His leaving might actually finally force some proper spending!!!!

Cheers mate. Big shame that we can’t keep our best players like Jose anymore.

Hopefully in the near future we’ll get back to where we should be and get rid of our newly found label of a selling club .

Unless we find ourselves a multi-billionaire, money no object benefactor though those days might be a way off yet.

Unfortunately that comes with the burden of being a much-hated fabricated team though and I don’t know which I’d dislike more.

Really don’t want to be the next “Sheik”City or Chelski.

Even if he stays, I think we need another left back. Shane Ferguson will have a far brighter future with us if he’s allowed to play out on the wing. He’s class there.

The best 2 full-backs toon ever had, playing together were Alan Kennedy and Irving Nattrass. They were two amazing players.

Absolute class, both internationals – Kennedy ended up at Luckypool!!!!!!!!!

I read a section on the Spanish site where José answered questions from fans. Didnt give much away, and surprisingly little was asked about his future, but he did say a few things. One was that he would more likely than not be staying in England and that a return to Spain was probably out of the question. And two, that the stuff in the news about him and Liverpool wasnt true.
Not sure what to think, but it sure would be better for the club if he stayed. However, his performances in the past month have been of a player with something else on his mind than NUFC…..

As we crawl towards the finishing line I can’t be sure whether I want us to win or lose. If we win, I suspect Ashley will tell Pardew he can manage with a small investment and a few freebies. I’d nearly ratherw get hammered so pardew can say – ‘Look, I told you we need half a squad of better players’.
