There’s an odd report in the Sunday papers that Newcastle may try to get Charles N’Zogbia back on Tyneside in the summer.
Charles N’Zogbia – does he want to come back?
Newcastle sold N’Zogbia to Wigan for £6M plus getting Ryan Taylor coming the other way, so that could be for around £8M approximately.
Charles has done well at Wigan, and may even be showing some signs of maturity, and the lad has played well for the Lancashire side this season – their best player easily.
But the fee is said to be £6M, and there’s no way Newcatsle can get him for that low price, surely.
Charles, who is now a full French International seemed to be willing to come back to Newcastle when Pardew went after him on January 31st, after selling Andy Carroll, and that surprised us a little.
At the time the price Wigan wanted was of course sky high, and they were hoping the Magpies were desperate enough – but they weren’t – they are not quite that daft these days
The news is that Newcastle are willing to put together a lucrative package for the 24 year-old, who was at Newcastle from August of 2004 until January of 2009, and there’s no doubt the lad is a very good player.
Sunderland and Birmingham are also said to be interested in the player – and it’s not surprising Sunderland are interested in him.
It would be a big surprise if Charles N’Zogbia comes back to Newcastle, and in our poll asking if readers wanted him back, around 62% said they didn’t want him back on Tyneside.
