Newcastle Interested In Demba Ba

Demba Ba, the 25-year-old Senegal striker failed a fitness test at Stoke City in January, but that didn’t stop him scoring 7 goals in 13 appearances for West Ham United.

Demba Ba – in action against Manchester United

Just think how many he could score at a more successful Premier League club – like Newcastle for instance.

And news today from Sky Sports, that it’s their understanding that up to six Premier League clubs are interested in the striker, and they include Newcastle United (and therefore Sunderland) and Aston Villa.

West Ham will need to do what Newcastle were forced to do when they were relegated two years ago, and jettison some of their highly plaid players and they have already said their England Internationals will all be sold.

There’s no way they will be able to keep Demba Ba at the east London club.

Demba Ba joined West Ham from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim back in January, and he was impressive for West Ham this year, but still couldn’t save the side from the dreaded drop, even though he scored two first half goals at Wigan last weekend.

It looks like the striker wants to stay in the Premier League, and Newcastle could be in with a chance.

From what we’ve seen of Demba Ba, he would be an excellent signing for the north east club.

In the four years Demba Ba spent at Hoffenheim, he appeared close to 100 times for the German side with 37 goals, and the 6’3″ striker looks like a natural goal scorer, and he can also play on the left wing.

What do you think of this player?

    BA- yes
    COLE- no
Parker- maybe at the right price
    Spector- good back-up
Green- No1 keeper for a few years.Until a young keeper can properly step-up
Noble- Not another CM. Parker is way better.

hainesy are you on crack son?

Robert Green is one of the reasons they went down. He is a terrible goalkeeper, cracks under pressure and is no better than Harper…

I would not take any defender from that team, all terrible defenders – even Upson.

Demba ba would be a great signing at the right price but id hope to get another striker in aswell in case he gets injured and id love it to be sturridge, they would be frightening up front with Ben Arfa, Jonas, Joey and NZogbia creating chance after chance providing we got them all, i firmly believe if we make a top striker signing early in the summer Jose will see we mean business and sign his contract…any muppet can see all we lack is a bit of creativity and pace up front…enter Ba, Sturridge and Nzogbia……….

I still don’t understand what’s wrong with his knee. How can a guy fail a medical and then play 13 games? He didn’t just struggle through those games… He was killing it.

sammydolan- Green is one of the best keepers in this country. I wish everyone would stop slating him after that ONE mistake against USA. People forget his second half save that prevented us from further embarrasment.

Green’s been woeful this season, Hainesy. I’d much rather keep Harps on.

Ba and Sturridge would make me a very happy man, as long as his knee isn’t held together with elastic bands. Looks fierce.

Hainesy you’re embarrassing yourself. He’s a pathetic goalkeeper who makes mistake after mistake, and seems to believe communication with his defense ends merely at swearing at them at the top of his lungs.
He stands at the front post for corners, something I’ve never seen before.

I’d take Da Costa as well, he does look good, if anything else he would provide competition at CB if not direct cover.

Saw him once against Werder Bremen. Although skilled and pacey, I just hope he’s not one of the players that Pardew mentioned to get us out of our seats.

Easy way to make Jose stay how about the last 10 minutes on Sunday a constant Jose chant so he sees how much he is loved here and just maybe it will convince him to stay.

A great player i’ve seen alot, scores goals from any range has a brillant range of shots, pacey to a degree his accelration is the key to his pace, scored 7 goals in 12 games more in the EPL than Ameobi and Loven put together (or near) is hardly any time at all, he suits NUFC with his pressence and also he speaks fluent English/French (a) maybe German.

I don’t care how much it costs cause it wouldnt be near 10M more around 5/8M i’d love to see him in a NUFC Shirt.

Id take anyone over Cole tbh but he is quality him and Shane Long could become the dark horse of Striking Partnerships in the EPL with us.

The names being mentioned mostly either won’t be available (anyone seriously think Chelsea will part with Sturridge with Torres playing like a flop) or will be hugely expensive and the owner won’t go for that. Pardew is just a mouthpiece, he will do what he is told after he hands his transfer list in. We don’t need any more teenage strikers we already have Ranger and Airey and we don’t want over the hill strikers on huge wages. A careful bid for Ba (assuming he has no long term injury problems) and Shane Long if Reading stay down seems reasonable and likely considering our owner. I would rather go for Gervinho or Sow and pay quite a bit than get in another average or lower striker. What is with Pardew saying Peter has a big role to play next season? If this is his attitude we are in serious trouble.

For people calling Demba Ba “sick note”, bear in mind, he’s been fit pretty much all season while at West Ham.

I would take Matthew Upson on a free transfer too if the wages were reasonable. I know he’s had a bad couple of seasons but I still think he’s a good player.

aye sign him up, he’s a good player. but i think we another ST to replace carrol. i’d love to see us sign arshavin as a attacking midfielder, arsenal going sell him and we’d probably get him for 8 mil, and also like pavluchenko to join, that would be a proper FW line, and we’d probably get pavlchenko for 8 mil too. i really liked them at euro 2008. i don’t think spurs are fit to get the best out of him, i think he’d be better with us, what yous think?

I think 2 strikers need to be our priority. Ba would be a good buy if he could prove his fitness. I dream of us signing Sturridge even on loan, unlikely as it seems Bolton have first refusal.
The rest of the team is difficult do we have an influx of players that will push youngsters like Ferguson, Lua Lua, Tavernier further down the pecking order. Ideally I’d like to see them feature more next season, I think Ferguson has certainly proved to be an able player and should be our main 2nd choice LW and maybe LB next season.

Totally unrealistic prices on the incoming Crawfordladd17. Double most of those fees, so the cost would be more like 70 million. Forget it with our owner. We aren’t Man City or Chelsea. It would make a great fantasy team but that’s it. Think more like spending 15-20 million max with 1 pricy player in the 10-12 million category. Only Ba who would be more like 8 million is reasonable on your list. I hope to be proven wrong but the last 3 years have proven what type of owner we have. He has no football ambition, only money making ambition. The purse strings will be only slightly loosened for mostly inexpensive players. If we continue to sell it could be a very scary summer. I don’t look for massive turnover but 1 or 2 leaving and 5 or 6 coming in seems likely with another net profit for the man at the top.

I think ba has a deal agreed that the club will have to sell him for what they bought him for. Which is 5-6m I think. If that was the price then get him in

Am on hainesy on the Green topic. He has looked bad because of his defence and scorelines but he is a fine keeper

The issue with Ba isnt that he could get injured the issue is the injury he is likely to get is a career ending one to my knowledge. One bad knock and he is done.

robert green is a mistake waiting to happen. he makes some great saves yes but you can guarentee he’s likely to make at least one major error a game. as i’ve said before the only player i’d take is ba providing his medical is fine..maybe parker but think he’s getting on a bit now we need younger players.
i was at the west ham liverpool game and they were actually singing that after he scored coolcatcarter… demba ba to the tune of kumbaya is another favourite lol

What is the point in signing Ba!?!

Yes he’ll probably get a few good goals but we all KNOW that he will get injured and will be sitting in the medical room while we pay his crazy wages.

You all know it will happen. There are better strikers and certainly healthier strikers around. I genuinely really hope he ends up with the mackems coz he’d soon be keeping all the rest of their (so called) strikers company.

He absolutely is not worth the chance .

Big shame though because he obviously has quite a bit of talent.
