Could Daniel Sturridge Be Interesting Newcastle?

Daniel Sturridge has shown just how good he could be in the Premier League with regular starts, after hitting 8 goals in just 11 appearances for Bolton, while on loan at the Trotters since January.

Daniel Sturridge – done great at Bolton

And it seems Daniel wants first team football next season, and if he cannot get that at Chelsea, it seems his is willing to move to another club.

The last thing the 21 year-old seems to want is to sit on the bench next season at Chelsea, but that seems likely if he stays there, if only because of the vast striker talent at the London club with Torres, Drogba, Anelka and Kalou.

This is what Sturridge said today:

“I want to play at Chelsea but if the chances don’t come at Chelsea, then I will have to look elsewhere.”

“I want to play first-team football regularly for Chelsea Football Club.”

“I love playing football for Chelsea. I want to play regularly, but for me next season it is very important to play first-team football.”

Newcastle are looking for a replacement for Andy Carroll in the summer, and it seems to us that 21 year-old Sturridge would be great at Newcastle.

We don’t know if Newcastle are interested in the player, but there would be a decent possibility of tempting the player to Newcastle and definite first team football.

We are simply hoping Newcastle will become interested in this player, if they aren’t already.

i’d love for sturridge to come over even if it takes us bidding upwards of 10million pounds for him

he is a future england international, but would chelsea let him go ? they tend to offload players only when they sit on their bench for a whole season ..

We’d be daft not to be interested in him but then again Chelsea would be daft to sell him.

Maybe he would be a good loan signing, if his fee is too high to buy him outright. After that, we could show him how great our club is and could lever a good deal for ourselves at the end of next season, as we have done with the HBA deal.

Would love him at Newcastle, but with Drogba leaving in the summer, he will get his chance at Chelsea. This kid is a future England player, and Chelsea would be mad to let him go. Here’s hoping though!!

Would anyone take him here on loan? He looks a very big player, but getting the lad in temporarily whilst Chelsea reap the long term benefits shows a small club mentality. I think we need to sign this lad – he looks top class – and avoid a loan deal.

I don’t agree with just giving him the number 9. Adds a lot of pressure that he will already have considering he is english and has bags of potential. Let him prove that he is worthy of the number 9 if we sign him. Unless ofcourse he will only sign if he is number 9 then forget what i have just said and give him it!

Would love him to come here, really can’t see Chelsea selling him though!

On a side note, I have a couple of spare tickets (seated together) for the West Brom game if anyone wants them… Not really fussed about getting anything for them rather just see them go to a good home.

I would make him our number 1 striker target he is immense give chelsea what they want for him a doubt they’d want more than say 14million.. hes worth every penny.. quick strong good finisher can hold the ball up and is only 20/21 years old giv him a long contract and the number 9 he will score loads with the supply line he will have

    Gervinho or N’Zogbia?
    and
    Osvaldo or Sturridge?

Who would people choose bearing in mind the fact the african cup of nations and other factors experience etc etc

Geordie toon i’m not sure on gervinho and n’zogbia as zog has played in England for a while and gervinho may have to adapt. Sutrridge for me though. He is a great prospect and he’s english! Would love to see us start bringing through some top home-grown talent.

At least N’Zogbia and Sturridge have shown they are suited to the PL, whereas Gervinho and Osvaldo would be more of a gamble.

Either way all four players would cost £10M probably, so I’d be happy with N’Zogbia and Sturridge this summer, with three or four cheap but good players to challenge the established XI.

If this strategy works then we can put for Europe next season and then be in a better position to get top notch palyers like Gervinho and Osvaldo next summer.

I’m sure you’ve had loads of people asking for the tickets – I’d love to come I live in Leicestershire and hardly ever get the chance – costs too much to travel and buy tickets more than anything but if they’re still spare let me know I’ll give you something for them too

He would be a great signing. I still think pardew is looking for a big central striker to feed two wing attack players. HBA would be one, sturridge as the other and maybe a Ba or similar in that position.

Sturridge and N’Zogbia are, as people have said, the type of players we need.

Creative, exciting and know where the goal is.

I’d also take Ba, if we could nab him. Great player and a good goalscorer.

There’s more reports today linking us with Taarabt too, but I think he’ll go to someone like Liverpool unfortunately.

Dont forget the £35m is/was for purchase and wages of the new players so you would have to deduct the wages from the new guys. Clever ploy by the fat man as AC was only on about £10k a week if my memory serves me correctly, and if we got in 3-4 players on £40-50k/week do the maths, you are looking at a total of about £20-24m for buying players.
