The Evening Chronicle is reporting today that they understood that Charles N’Zogbia is keen on making a return to Newcastle United this summer.
Charles N’Zogbia – wants to return to Newcastle
Only this morning we reported there were at least five top Premier League clubs after the player, and we knew he seemed keen to return to Newcastle, when the club made a last minute bid to get him back to Newcastle in the January transfer window.
That was after the club sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool, who seems to be struggling for fitness and form at Liverpool at the moment, and it looks like he doesn’t want to play for the England U21s in the European Championships this summer.
He was just fine while he was at Newcastle.
The Chronicle is also reporting that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is a big admirer of the French winger, and is keen to bring him back to Newcastle, where he spent four and half years and arrived from Le Havre in the summer of 2004, when he was just 18 years old.
N’Zogbia has been in terrific form for relegation-threatened Wigan when it rally matters – over the last few weeks – but the 24-year-old is certain to move on this summer.
It was unfortunate circumstances when Charles left the club in January of 2009, then Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear forgetting his name and calling him I’nsomnia – close but no cigar Joe.
Apparently Charles has been coming back to Newcastle often since leaving the club, and it’s being reported he has regretted leaving Newcastle with their magnificent fans and 52,000 home gates.
That would have been clear when he started playing in front of 16,000 crowds at Wigan, where Rugby League is the top sport.
A source close to the winger told the local paper today:
“Charles left Newcastle on the back of a row with Kinnear.” “He’s always regretted leaving the club, and if there was a chance to come back he would obviously be interested.”
“He’s got a big game with Wigan this weekend and then there will probably be a lot of talk about where Charles goes next.”
“But he is intrigued by the plans that Alan Pardew has in store for Newcastle next season.”
We have to hope that this news is true, because N’Zogbia is just the type of fast goal scoring winger Newcastle need in the squad.
It would be a terrific signing for Newcastle, and because he wants to come back, he’d be warmly welcomed back to St. James’ Park.
This could be good news for Newcastle.
