Pardew Will Not Hesitate To Play Newcastle Youngsters

One of the many pleasing things about the Newcastle display at Chelsea last Sunday, was the good form of the Newcastle youngsters on show at Stamford Bridge.

Shane Ferguson challenges Torres on Sunday

Shane Ferguson, Nile Ranger, Sammy Ameobi and Kazenga LuaLua all showed distinct promise in the 2-2 draw.

And in addition to the above four, local lads Michael Richardson, Phil Airey and Greg McDermott are all pushing for a first team appearance, and may even feature in the game on Sunday against West Brom, which will wrap up a successful season for the Magpies in the Premier League.

Alan Pardew has often said he is not afraid to give the youngsters a chance when the opportunity arises, and the former Reading,, West Ham, Charlton Athletic and Southampton manager told the local Newcatsle press corps today:

“They have been in the right environment and they are ready to step in if needed.”“They are coming up from a development pool that is well looked after with people like Peter Beardsley, Steve Stone, Willie Donachie and of course John Carver and myself having an input into that.

“It’s not like they are coming into a group who they are unfamiliar with.” “If there is another chance for somebody to taste experience again, even with 10 minutes left, then I wouldn’t hesitate to do that.”

Shane Ferguson left the field in the second half with what looked to be an ankle injury, but he will be fit again for the game on Sunday.

And with Argentine winger Gutierrez out through injury, Shane will be making his 9th appearance for the first team out on the left wing.

Alan has today confirmed the 19 year-old top young Irishman will be ready to go:

“Shane will be fine. He’s a great example for any of the reserve team players this season.” “If more can follow in his footsteps then it will be great.”

We would expect Shane to get lots of appearances for the first team next season, somewhere on the left hand side of the field.

The once capped Northern Ireland International can seemingly play in a number of  different positions, and he’s looked very good every time he’s played in the Newcastle first team.

Glad to hear it. Always nice to get a look at the fringe players, and it’s a fairly meaningless match to be honest. It would be nice to win and go out on a high, but I won’t be shedding any tears if we get beat. Roll on next season.

my mate was playing at stamford bridge in a charity match yesterday and i have to say chelsea are great hosts. we got invited to the player awards after..ashley cole got players player of the year i was half tempted to boo when he went to collect his award. i think torres will be a force next year.

anyway i hope kuqi gets a goal on sunday..he’s obviously not gonna get a contract so would be nice for him to sign off in style

I’d like to see more of Sammeobi purely out of curiosity.

What I really liked about the lad vs Chelsea was when he got the ball he didnt look to move it back and forth, he picked it up and ran head on at their players.

When was the last time we had someone that ran at defenders to beat them? must be a while…

Maybe NUFC90 but we have Airey/Ranger/Sammy on bench all attackers, id prefer to see them who are our future rather that this guy whos a stopgap.

    I really wanna see:
Airey (Can he step up to the next step, we havent seen him apart from like a 10Min Cameo in cup game would like to see a good 45mins with him)

Lua Lua (Coming back from bad injury but his directness is amazing just like the cross he did to RTaylor that lead to our goal, i want to see a good 45Min + with him to persuade Pardwho to give him a longer contract only has a year or runs out in Summer not too sure)

Tavanier (Worst posistion (apart from our strikers) Danny is decent but EVERY move goes down his side, I’d like to see Tav get a chance he reminds me alot of Danny but on loan he was superb so commanding for such a young age and calm under pressure.

yeah i agree i meant if he comes on for like 10minutes.. i’d go with

    krul
    simpson taylor colo enrique
    lualua rtaylor barton ferguson
    shola ranger

bring on sammy, tavanier around 60mins and give kuqi 10mins at the end

Would be great to see the kids for a bit. Its important to introduce them slowly though. Look at the cameos against Chelsea, just enough time to show promise, not too much to overwelmed, then keep increasing there exposure.

ya that looks good nufc90 but realistically i think pardew is gonna have lovenkrands in place of ranger so unfortunately one of those subs will be ranger, another kuqi, and possibly one of the other two you listed.

also lualua is normally a right winger correct? he looked very good on the left last week….imagine fergie n him on the wing some real potential there

Really would like to see Vuckic play a part in midfield with 15-20 mins to go.
Who knows we could end the game with
    Krul
    Simpson
    Taylor
    Colo
    Fergie
    Ameobi
    Barton
    Vuckic
    Lua Lua
    Ranger
    Shola

its possible that up to 8 players could finish the game that have been developed at SJP, pleasing stuff.

I think that would be quite an achievement to be fair. How many teams can say the majority of their players have been brought through their academies.

Defoe has landed at St James park by Ashleys helicopter in the last half hour. If he was signing dont know why he would be up here so soon?

Whilst its probably a load of hockum…is spurs agree to sell him and newcastle have made a formal approach theres no reason why a deal couldnt be done now and then offically put through when the window opens.

haha has anyone seen redknapp on skysports today he’s embarassed defoe big time..
first… he said he’s not been good enough to play this season (defoe said he’s been outstanding in training)
second.. redknapp’s taking the p*** about defoe saying he’d rather not play europa league
interesting to see if defoe spits his dummy out the pram like some players would

He wouldn’t be arriving if we hadn’t agreed a fee. At the moment the asking price is said to be £15m, so I doubt he’s actually here. I doubt we’d pay his wages either.

Love to see him play for us, mind. Cracking little forward.

id be quite disappointed if we decide to sign defoe..perhaps for 7 mio…but we can do better..younger..more enthusiastic..& sbd who spends more time on the training ground then in puff daddy shops.. for that money we can do better.. cmon hes 29 & im guessing we will play with only one forward with HBA behind him..so we need sbd stronger.

In this last and apart from the extra dosh it can bring to the club, a meaningless game.
I dont know why there`s a constant cry to play the kids, cause the fact is most are not ready and may in fact not be good enough for this league.
A case in point was Rangers start, here was a player who had played in numerous cameo roles coming on in the last parts of games.
It became obvious in the first half, a kid that had caused some concern for opposing defense as a sub, simply did`nt hav a clue and should have been taken off.
Unfortunately it would have been an embarrassment for both Pardew and Ranger if that happened, an insinuation that Pardew had made a mistake in playing him in the first place.
So in fact for fans to call for these kids to start
(most having never seen the kids play even) is a dis-service to the club and based on blind faith.

in my team i put lualua who has played a substantial amount of games for brighton, ferguson (who has started for newcastle and made a couple of cameos), and ranger who has been the most used sub in the prem i think they deserve a chance with the others getting a cameo role near the end.

nightfa11 you’d be surprised i think malaga are owned by an arab billionaire..read somewhere not far behind man city for money except he wants to build malaga stabally and not just throw the cash at it like man city

& its not all about wages..fact is if u cant have a good life with 2 mio..you wont have it with 200..mio.. some realize that..
