Newcastle Agree Fee For Top International Midfielder

News in the Sunday Sun today that Newcastle are about to sign an International midfielder to their squad this coming week.

Alan Pardew – first deal almost done

It seems that the decision was taken at a 5 hour meeting  held on Thursday in Newcastle with Ashley, Pardew, Llambias and Lee Charnley, the Newcastle Secretary,  all in attendance.

Apparently the club are close to getting their first deal done, and are also hopeful of signing another player within two weeks.

This is what Pardew told the local Sunday newspaper today:

“I think we’re close on one player which we would like to get over the line,”

“And I can say that because he’s an international player – not someone who belongs to one of the bottom four battling relegation.”

“There are two or three others we’re monitoring and we know what the figures are to get them over the line.”

The Sunday Sun is reporting the International player is primarily a central midfielder, and is based in  Europe, and that the fee has already been agreed with his club.

So the question is who do you think this player is?

We’re pretty sure the second player is former winger Charles N’Zogbia, because Newcastle are already negotiating his transfer back to Newcastle with Wigan Athletic,  and Charles is said to be very keen to come back to Tyneside.

The very fact that Charles wants to come back to Newcastle, has removed our doubts about the player,  and as soon as he arrives Kevin Nolan and company will let him know what’s expected of him.

But the 24 year-old seems to have matured at Wigan, and of course he’s playing just great.

Comments welcome.

Can’t be Larsson as there is a fee involved, he’s a free transfer so we’d just have to sort his wages.

According to Carr’s Twitter, it is Seb Larsson.

Also, Gervinho has agreed terms with Newcastle, but he is being held back by his advisors. He’s stayed at Tiotes house many times and wants to come to Newcastle. As well as this, Drogba has told him to come to the premier league.

Hopefully we’ll sign him in the coming weeks.

So it’s not Larsson, he’s in the “bottom 4”. Brilliant news, but I’m hoping that when the Sun says “midfielder” they mean a winger. Tis what we need.

Not going to be Larrson because the article says its a player based in continental Europe. It could be the kid Mehdi ABEID from LENS. That has been the rumour of late but i could be totally wrong. I would LOVE to see N’Zogbia back in a toon shirt and Gervinho want to tell his advisors to stick it and sign up. His advisors are thinking of themselves not him. To line their own pockets.

    @Stuart

According to NUFC Scouts, that’s what Gervinho wants. He wants to come to Newcastle but his advisors won’t let him at the moment. AP wants to have him working with HBA in the center/wing for creativity. He is also the “Big Signing” we are trying to get.

What a daft headline sunday sun! They could’ve at least gave us the name! Well that cwarr0 guy said that they would find out the deal with gervinho in the next 7 last thursday. So it could hopefully be him. However i’m slightly sceptical of him

I think the Mentioning of the Bottom 4 is a hint to the fans that Newcastle are not looking to swoop in on Relegation buys… which thankfully would also mean we arnt interest in Carlton “Ameobi” Cole.

If it is gervinho that definately explains the AP/Drogba handshake the other day like.

Its a tricky one with Gervinho though because he’s probably good enough to play in any team, so his advisers are probably right to make him hold out for a better team. But if he went to one of those he’d just be another player. If he comes here he’ll quickly become a legend.

I dont understand why people want the Zog back…

I have no doubt that when a “Big” Club start sniffing around for him, he will jump ship again…

Surely there are players of his quality, with a better attitude and cheaper out there in the market…

Is it perhaps just me but I read the article and thought the quote “And I can say that because he’s an international player – not someone who belongs to one of the bottom four battling relegation”
And thought it more meant that the player did not deserve to be fighting relegation ala Scott Parker or similar. Im not saying I think it is him but more that kind of statement than A he is not a member of a bottom 4 club………….
