Alan Pardew will be unloading a few players at Newcastle this summer.
Xisco – has been a bust
It seems obvious that Wayne Routledge will move on to QPR for around £1.5M, and Sol Campbell has played his last game for Newcastle, and in the season appeared only 8 times for Newcastle due to lack of form and injury.
Sol says he still wants to continue in football but could it find it hard to get picked up by a Premier League side.
Shefki Kuqi will also leave and Newcastle will want to unload Xisco, if anybody will take him.
With Xisco, Newcastle are suffering from striking a terrible deal for the player in late August of 2008, which led to Kevin Keegan leaving the club.
Dennis Wise paid out £5.7M for the player but he was also given a five year contract at £50K/week, and it’s obvious he will try to see out the final two years of his contract, probably out on loan if Newcastle can get a club willing to take him.
But it’s simply been a nightmare financially fir the club, to be paying out so much money for a player who just isn’t good enough to make the side.
Xisco has been on loan at Deportivo since January, but Coloccini as well as Xisco’s former club were relegated this season, when they finished 3rd bottom of La Liga, just one point from safety.
Xisco played 9 times with 2 goals for Deportivo this year.
Mike Ashley wants value for money, and you cannot blame him for that, but Sol Campbell became the latest player at Newcastle who couldn’t get into the first team, but was still on a massive £45K/week.
Other senior players who could move out include Alan Smith and Danny Guthrie, but we would be surprised if either player left this summer.
Young Ben Tozer hasn’t seemed to make the grade at Newcastle, since signing from Swindon back in January of 2008, and he will most likely leave the club.
