Vote For Your Newcastle United Player Of The Season

It’s that time of year again when you can vote for the Newcastle United Blog Player of the Season.

We’ve set the bar at 15 appearances for the season, so that rules out both Leon Best and Steven Taylor, and only players still at the club are eligible, so that rules out Andy Carroll.

Previous winners were Habib Beye in 2008, Sebastian Bassong in 2009 and Jose Enrique last year.

Each reader is allowed one vote – so here’s your chance:

Who Was Newcastle's Player Of The Season?

  • Cheick Tiote (38%, 941 Votes)
  • Joey Barton (31%, 754 Votes)
  • Kevin Nolan (13%, 311 Votes)
  • Fabricio Colocccini (11%, 283 Votes)
  • Jose Enrique (4%, 108 Votes)
  • Jonas Gutierrez (3%, 74 Votes)

Total Voters: 2,486

Colo for me all day long. Ok he has made some cock ups and he isnt the biggest. Class footballer and best technical centre half in Prem league and the best I have seen at Newcastle. Even better the Woodgate if only due to his fitness.

Tiote for me, been consistant throughout (and not just bookings).

Joey had a few quiet games esp in the second half of the season. He was brilliant against WBA though.

If Villa are interested in him I wouldnt be surprised if he was part of a Swap deal for Ireland… but his agent said he would only go to a top team and Villa’s a sidestep

    the list is

    Barton, Collo, Tiote, Guti, Enrique
My vote has to be Barton .. for not just the Arsenal game but for upping his game back to his Man City days ..
Hope they all stay, they’ve got the steel we need to push on for next year..

Collo for me, Tiote needs to improve discipline as he has missed too many matches despite a great season.

The more I think about it he more I think mike Ashley will sell the club soon… I just believe the new owner are wanting to get a few things sorted before they buy the club…. I believe if mike ashley was holding on to the club then he would give joey a new contract.
Maybe the new owners don’t want to get off on the wrong foot with the fans if they sold Barton.
I would love the Indians to buy us and spend around 60 mill this window…. Maybe I’m just being delusional…

Enrique: pound for pound the best technical performer at the club. Collo: has been excellent overall – bar the inevitable odd blip. Jonas: finally convinced me this season – so crucial for stretching the pitch and getting the ball out of own half against the top sides. Nolan: goals have kept us up – fair do’s. Tiote: a PROPER player – transforms our mobility in midfield when he plays – but the odd clanger and all those yellows aren’t as pleasing..

got to be Barton for me,,, the driving force and scored our first goal – that peach against villa to get us up and running for the season…

TonyGreen, Yes, that’s right. I have to agree with this point, so I think I should vote on Collo or Jonas.

Nolan was very important to us with his goals, but if we think about it, Usually, he doesn’t do anything on the field outside of his goals. So, hard to decide…

Nolan for me without him being captian we would of been in the dog fight at the weekend

Jonas close second for the effort he has put in and the fact he has only missed 1 game this season.

Haven’t you noticed that every player that has won this award left the club straight after. Okay, Enrique is still with us, but not for long. My vote was for Tiote, but hopefully he’ll stay for a long successful career with NUFC.

Am surprised Nolan has got so few votes. His leadership on and off the pitch has been absolutely top class. And given that he also chipped in with those goals from midfield had a big say in our season.

    El Capitano Nolan for Me!

    colo, tiote, barton…& then jonas.

nolan only had goals..which would be great if he were a striker. & as for enrique..very capable, but when he decided he wanted out, he didnt try hard enough.

he didnt advise him to leave, he told him liverpool are a big club and i imagine he told him about the history and tht if he was to leave liverpool would be the club.. I highly doubt he said look quit your boyhood club and leave your dreams behind asap and go to liverpool.. they was only one person who could make a decision and that is Andy Carroll no one else can make it for him

Yeah Nolan said to his BEST friend at the club that he should leave….what are you lot on?

Nolan probably explained to Carroll what a oppertunity he was being offered and that NUFC wouldnt ever offer him 80k a week. He gave his opinion which Carroll asked for ad Carroll made up his own mind

    i dont buy it.

    1st off…21 y.o. with 15 years left playing…wanting 80 k per week is idiotic.
2nd off..if this was true it means that nolan..our “belooved captain” would leave in a sec if sbd offered him 80 k per week. some captain.
    3. having orgys with teenage girls & sniffing cocain while his 1y.o. kid is sleeping near by is simply disturbed.

so..is he our player of the season?

bit of beef going on on twitter.

    @cwarr07
    Colin says to
    @MsiDouglas @lukeedwards0 @chickenwirerec @caulkinthetimes ‘you’d better ask AP about that one :-)’

    MsiDouglas Mark Douglas reply to

@cwarr07 Good luck to you mate. Always enjoy your Tweets but I’d draw the line at telling me how to do my job.

Quite funny, all in reference to Cwarro7’s claim that N’zgobia is as good as done deal.

Cwarro seems pretty certain, he’s putting his balls on the line with this one, he better hope that the zog signs.

Magpietillidie22, our opinions differ m8 that’s all but I don’t think it’s relevant to use “apparant deal negotiations” as a reason not to consider him.

I agree, Tiote, Colo and Enrique (until say Feb time) have been top players for us and also like Jonas too, maybe he doesn’t create as much as he should but wins corners and plenty of free kicks in good areas.
