Enrique Saga Continues – Offered Fantastic New Deal

The saga surrounding Jose Enrique and whether he will leave Newcatsle this summer or not, has really gone on for  too long.

Jose Enrique – in action last Sunday

But news today that it could come to a conclusion one way or the other next week, as Jose’s representatives are due to meet with the Newcastle hierarchy and Alan Pardew says they have offered him a  very very good – make that – a fantastic contract.

That’s good to hear, although that news came out a week or two ago that Newcatsle were preparing to offer Jose a bumper deal, as one last ditch effort, to keep the popular player on Tyneside.

This is what manager Alan Pardew said today:

“We have been waiting to see his representatives, they are due here in the early part of next week.”

“We are going to make Jose a very, very good offer and we are hoping he is going to accept it.”

“We are realistic about Jose, because the ball is in his court on that one, not in ours.”

“He will be offered a fantastic contract here, he knows that, but still it is going to be down to his decision. I am still hopeful.”

It really is up to Jose now, but he knows the Newcastle club and the Newcastle fans deserve a fairly quick decision.

If he still wants to leave after this – at least the club did everything they could to keep him – and it’s doubtful Liverpool will be able to match this offer, so he woyuldn;t have left for the money.

We have to think Jose like joey, is not too sure about Mike Ashley, although we have no out and out proof of that.

But the news about Joey Barton earlier this week will hurt rather then help the chances of Jose staying on Tyneside.

But this offer shows that Newcastle still do one or two things right – so credit where credit is due.

If Jose does leave Newcatsle , then that may unsettle the Argentine pair of Gutierrez and Coloccini, who are close to Jose because the three of them speak Spanish.

And the news of the last few days is that Liverpool want both Enrique and Gutierrez on Merseyside.

What is it that seems to fascinate former Newcastle manager Kenny Dalglish with the Newcastle players?

Comments welcome.

listie – Enrique is 3 years younger than Barton and therefore we can offer him longer terms. I am in full agreement with the club about not wanting to offer Barton a 4 year deal to a 28 coming on 29 year old it doesn’t make long term financial sense, that’s where we’ve gone wrong in the past!

Ed what on earth leads you to logically conclude that LIverpool wont be able to match this offer or any offer we make him?? Silly statement.

As it is I think ashley might think if he keeps Jose then he will keep Barton Jonas and Nolan as well. It shows intent so I hope we keep him.

If Ashley and Co are as good in the transfer market as they are at the spin the Toon will be top four next season.

    If only ….

Well its going to go t*ts up i feel !!
get the money in, then hang back, wait, look busy!!
good contract for young Ferguson, well deserved, but thats where AP will say the money is going, new contracts to existing contracted players!
i hope and pray that MA will come up trumps and invest well in new signings, but based on what has happened in past, and being proven LIARS do we really think, we will see upwards of £25-30m spent on players???
I would love to think so!!

    @spitfire_

He refused becasue e just sold our top/future stricker so he rightly questioned the owners ambitions.

Further on from that i just dont see why MA would think making bad desicions is good he just simply isnt what ever his doing he thinkgs its best for the club and im just waiting for the day when he beats the Barca owner at a game of blackjack and we get MEssi on a 12 year deal in return for Perch… one can dream

i dont really know what to think about barton saga..

    1. he was in jail..we probably saved his career..
    2. when he was in jail he refused to take a paycut
    3. will soon be 29
    4. had 1 good season out of 3
    5. has a shitty agent
    6. barton & nolan are taking over the dressing room..which can be a good, but also a very bad thing..when players do that..
    7. if we want to see europe we also need experienced players which he is
    8. some players dont want to join us cos of him
    9. has experience..not only on the pitch, but also out of it..can help youngsters..
    10. i have no idea what id do:)

Hughton’s sacking and the lack of ambition signalled in the January transfer window has shattered the core of the team’s belief in the club’s management.

If any of them can move on and increase their wages elsewhere by August 31st I think they will.

With Hughton and Carroll still at the club they would have all signed. They had a belief that they were a team going places.

Now they are following Ashley’s example.
If someone waves pounds at you grab them fast. Screw loyalty.

Dont worry about it haha nar its what would Joey Barton do 🙂

And you are right that they may not do it but its still a valid point as we have to go off what has come out from Liverpool till they prove it a lie.

As for the Carroll comparison he is a star striker who you can build a team around so warrents a high wage. Jose is a LB…you dont build a team around a LB

it has always been July 1st..but i think this years different…i think it opens in June & with that new rule coming in soon, everybodys trying to sign players before it comes to that…cos 80% of clubs are in financial mess 🙂 yup..including valencia..so if we outbid them now, there will be no way for valencia to sign gramero. I THINK thats the case..

I really think nightfa11 has a good point about Nolan and Barton taking over the dressing room. I get the feeling that these two perhaps think they are not only running the show on the pitch but off it too.
How long before they’re picking the team, with their mate Smith as CF?
Whatever anyone thinks of Barton though, his Twitter battles are worth following.
