The saga surrounding Jose Enrique and whether he will leave Newcatsle this summer or not, has really gone on for too long.
Jose Enrique – in action last Sunday
But news today that it could come to a conclusion one way or the other next week, as Jose’s representatives are due to meet with the Newcastle hierarchy and Alan Pardew says they have offered him a very very good – make that – a fantastic contract.
That’s good to hear, although that news came out a week or two ago that Newcatsle were preparing to offer Jose a bumper deal, as one last ditch effort, to keep the popular player on Tyneside.
This is what manager Alan Pardew said today:
“We have been waiting to see his representatives, they are due here in the early part of next week.”
“We are going to make Jose a very, very good offer and we are hoping he is going to accept it.”
“We are realistic about Jose, because the ball is in his court on that one, not in ours.”
“He will be offered a fantastic contract here, he knows that, but still it is going to be down to his decision. I am still hopeful.”
It really is up to Jose now, but he knows the Newcastle club and the Newcastle fans deserve a fairly quick decision.
If he still wants to leave after this – at least the club did everything they could to keep him – and it’s doubtful Liverpool will be able to match this offer, so he woyuldn;t have left for the money.
We have to think Jose like joey, is not too sure about Mike Ashley, although we have no out and out proof of that.
But the news about Joey Barton earlier this week will hurt rather then help the chances of Jose staying on Tyneside.
But this offer shows that Newcastle still do one or two things right – so credit where credit is due.
If Jose does leave Newcatsle , then that may unsettle the Argentine pair of Gutierrez and Coloccini, who are close to Jose because the three of them speak Spanish.
And the news of the last few days is that Liverpool want both Enrique and Gutierrez on Merseyside.
What is it that seems to fascinate former Newcastle manager Kenny Dalglish with the Newcastle players?
Comments welcome.

Comment #43Toon Andy it’s been July 1st for some years now. You can agree a deal with clubs and players (if given permission by club) any time during the season but deal won’t officially go through until July 1st.

Why the hell don’t you wait until we sign/sell players before you come out with your ‘statements of fact’.

Spot on,
I don’t mind pulling out the stops for Enrique becos he is the future and worth investing in. Nolan and barton are both nearly 30 and have poor fitness records. Sentiment has always killed us in the past.

Geoff 777 is entitled to his opinion and his opinion on this is just as valid as yours!!
I also think that there is some credence in the senior players disliking the current Senior Managment regime. A couple of months ago i was told by a very well respected ex member of staff that this indeed was the case….and everything coming out of the club at the minute, including the statements made today by AP the Manager by the way, who should be slightly better genned up than you, point to the fact that the Senior Managment are at logger heads with at least one of the senior playing staff and probably 2 or 3 more!
I think its fair to say that this season has been our best season since the FCB took over, this being down to 4-5 core players building a team spirit that is hard to break out on the park.
BUT very easy to break behind closed doors…..
Simply put, they have yet to instill any belief that they have the slightest clue how to run our football club…..

And to be fair, looking historically at transfer windows, he does have a point!!
Coz Fat mike ALWAYS maximises profit with minimum expenditure, without ever taking the teams needs into account….look at January!!

Comment #59LFC, leave our top players alone. Jose, and especially Jonas (our only true international star) brought us back up (not that others didn’t play, but they made the difference) and were the most reliable left duo (tell me a better one) in the PL….

Bills-son is one of these who adores Mike Ashley, has been taken in by the broken promises of building a successful team…5 years ago….and the fact that he has written off the debt.
as all these have made our football team the success they are today……..Lords alive, he’s asked for another five year to make us kings of Europe……..cant wait!

Pretty tough to show FACTS about a future event.
I can only look back at past transfer windows under Ashley.
Most have been big disappointments with more cash coming in than being spent.

Comment #75its true that the Spanish government protect these clubs but when in the past they have done just that they broke Fifa rules and its this that started the road towards the fair play regulations, and although we have debts on paper they are to our owner not to creditors, some teams are that in debt that they are on the brink of transfer embargo’s it makes the fact we buy with cash purchases as good as a 25% improvement over a credit sale. it don’t matter what club some players want it could end up who can afford to buy.

Yea i don’t play footy manager.
——————————
Gameiro
“Valencia is a very good club and I am thrilled they are showing me they want me to join them,”
Valencia & Arsenal can both offer Champions League and have world class players.
—————————————————-
Gervinho
“The coach wants me to stay. The club will play in the Champions League and he wants to play it with me. I want to play it too, if I have such an opportunity.”
“I can play it at Lille or somewhere else”
Arsenal are in Pole Position
And if you need futher proof 3 years ago he said this.
“I need to keep working and Arsenal will open the door for me.
“I have dreamed about that club. To play for Arsenal will be the best day of my life and I will do anything to play for that team.”
“It is their game, the freedom the manager give them to express their qualities.
“They are all young players and out of all the top European clubs they are the only ones who work like this. I really love that.”

5 years to balance the books, drag us through relegation in that space, sell our best players and then you tell me trust the LIAR as he will start to build now???
Im afraid, he needs to build more than just a team….the clubs reputation has taken more batterings than jordans back doors, this will take probably a further 5 years!!

Comment #79I think some people are ignoring the fact that we just got relegated two seasons ago, oblivious to the monetary cost of it and turning a blind eye on the fact that we paid premiership wages to come back up. All this while being heavily in debt.
Anyway, I think there’s no point bidding up to 10 million for Gameiro. He wants to go to Spain because it fits his style. He’s 5’7 or 172cm. I don’t think he likes to play in a league where a lot of teams (including us) play direct or long ball and facing big defenders like Vidic, Samba or Terry. Even if he comes here, it might affect him mentally. So no point if he doesn’t want to come. May be another Guivarch if we’re not careful.
