The saga surrounding Jose Enrique and whether he will leave Newcatsle this summer or not, has really gone on for too long.
Jose Enrique – in action last Sunday
But news today that it could come to a conclusion one way or the other next week, as Jose’s representatives are due to meet with the Newcastle hierarchy and Alan Pardew says they have offered him a very very good – make that – a fantastic contract.
That’s good to hear, although that news came out a week or two ago that Newcatsle were preparing to offer Jose a bumper deal, as one last ditch effort, to keep the popular player on Tyneside.
This is what manager Alan Pardew said today:
“We have been waiting to see his representatives, they are due here in the early part of next week.”
“We are going to make Jose a very, very good offer and we are hoping he is going to accept it.”
“We are realistic about Jose, because the ball is in his court on that one, not in ours.”
“He will be offered a fantastic contract here, he knows that, but still it is going to be down to his decision. I am still hopeful.”
It really is up to Jose now, but he knows the Newcastle club and the Newcastle fans deserve a fairly quick decision.
If he still wants to leave after this – at least the club did everything they could to keep him – and it’s doubtful Liverpool will be able to match this offer, so he woyuldn;t have left for the money.
We have to think Jose like joey, is not too sure about Mike Ashley, although we have no out and out proof of that.
But the news about Joey Barton earlier this week will hurt rather then help the chances of Jose staying on Tyneside.
But this offer shows that Newcastle still do one or two things right – so credit where credit is due.
If Jose does leave Newcatsle , then that may unsettle the Argentine pair of Gutierrez and Coloccini, who are close to Jose because the three of them speak Spanish.
And the news of the last few days is that Liverpool want both Enrique and Gutierrez on Merseyside.
What is it that seems to fascinate former Newcastle manager Kenny Dalglish with the Newcastle players?
Comments welcome.

Comment #82Any fan who has followed us during the Ashley rein will know fine well we wont be signing Gervinho, Gamiero etc etc.
Why would they come here ??????????
We wont even pay the wages man……..
what foundation have any of us got to actually think we are going to spend some cash . Wake Up look at every transfer window under ashley . We will sign players i have NO DOUBT however to believe they are going to be the standard that are being suggested , forget it !!
As for the Enrique contract , great yeah we all know he wants to go or he would have come out and said otherwise people. FCB is offering a fantastic contract already in the knowledge its gonna be rejected cos jose wants out .
btw
i have just put a bid in to buy newcastle for 80 million ( its a fantastic offer which i know is not gonna be accepted but hey i tried eh ?????)
One more thing those people who think beardsley was on here . Come on man does Peter Beardlsey come across as a person who would put gossip on a forum same with scouts – its more than their jobs are worth .

Comment #83When we were a PLC the club’s accounts and dealings had to be made public.
The were scoured over by city analysts and the share price reflected the value they found.
The share price was stable and the city were happy.
Debt and Investment can be the same thing.
Freddy Shepherd despite all his faults knew we were in the business of sports entertainment.
You have to respect that he tried to give us quality players … and the city of London were happy with our books.

Comment #84More than half of Europe’s 655 top-flight football clubs are in the red, says European governing body UEFA. And as many as 11 clubs could have been barred from European competition this year if UEFA chief Michel Platini’s (right) new financial regulations had been in place.
The club licensing report shows the 655 top-flight clubs generated collective revenues of €11.7 billion. But costs were €12.9 billion, an increase of 9.3% says UEFA. Collective losses were nearly €1.18 billion, almost double the previous record, with some 56% of the clubs in the red. And that’s not a kit reference.
There’s some evidence, however, that things are getting better. Two years ago, almost 70% of the clubs were in the red. Gianni Infantino, UEFA’s general secretary, said “The figures demonstrate we were right to ask for more financial discipline.”
Fair play rules
UEFA’s complex set of financial fair play rules, driven by President Michel Platini, are due to come into force from the 2012 financial year. In broad terms, they require clubs to break even each year, with sanctions to be imposed if they don’t.
If those regulations were in force now, 11 clubs would, says UEFA, have “potentially” been excluded from the Champions League and Europa League this season. Platini said: “There won’t be any witchhunts today but on the other hand we won’t hesitate to clamp down.”
Those rules already seem to be damping down spending by some clubs, but as ever in football the devil is in the detail. In the first two years that UEFA will analyse figures, clubs will be permitted to overspend by €45m as long as the owners cancel that out with an equity injection.
Sanctions
Permitted losses will then drop over three seasons until they reach zero. But UEFA has indicated that if clubs can show they are moving in the right direction, sanctions may be reduced or deferred. But there’s a bigger criticism of the new regulations – one that says they will merely preserve the existing order in which rich and powerful clubs dominate.
Manchester United, for example, have welcomed the new rules because the club believes its huge revenue-generating strength will enable it to maintain competitiveness without overspending. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovitch is believed to take a similar view.
Long-term change
UEFA’s response is to say that it is aiming for change in the long-term, and change that will be more permanent. Infantino uses Arsenal as an example of good practice. Ten years ago the club reported less income than Liverpool and Newcastle. Now it is higher than both and the club competes at the top table.
The key for UEFA is to get clubs to obey the spirit of the regulations, rather than simply observe the letter and find ways around them. That’s also the reasoning behind some of the laborious compromise measures. It remains to be seen how this will all pan out.

Comment #85Angryman – I think you just like to look at things very simplistically, to suit your arguments (which you clearly enjoy having).
Of course, you’re right, MA has a vendetta against us all and he’s actively trying to self-sabotage his own investment.
Even if you believe his only motive is money, he’d make far more by us being a successful club, period. The exposure for Sports Direct if we were in Europe and the scope for expansion into the continent that would provide, feeding his ‘greed’ further, deems any argument against him as silly.

The only issue with the fair play rules is it only affects clubs in European competitions…..so we as a club could spend as much as we want until we are in Europe

I think money will be spent. I doubt he will spend anywhere near 30 million, id guess no more than 15 mill, and that will NOT get us the quality of the players we need.
And no one can knock my theory because thats all it is, based on historical evidence, a theory. as is the THEORY that we will spend on good players coming in……..its all theory. But we all have a right to our opinion.
The FCB ‘haters’ are not necessarily ‘neggers’ we just do not trust a man, who is a PROVEN liar!!

Comment #93okay newcastle mole but ermmm i dont play football manager niether but, valencia havent bid for gemerio yet and pardew sed this about him “We think that’s 60-40 in our favour.“We are pitching for a striker we bid for – that’s been reported. We’re hopeful on that but we’ll have to wait and see” soo pardew certainly doesnt think its fantasy and gervinho said “i have already made my choice. Either I will leave or not, everyone will know it later. It is a personal choice” unless you know him personal you have as little a clue as to any1 else were he will go, not to mention hes agreed to meet pardew soo he could be sold into the club so stop talking as if its a fact

Comment #94Mike Ashley wouldn’t sabotage his own investment.
He’d maximise it with the minimum outlay.
Which is my fear.
My fear is that he’ll keep us mid-table, take the cash from 52,000 fans +Sky money and continually sell our best players.

I wasnt have a dig at you it just feels alot of people on here think its football manager and we can sign players regardless of anything else.
Like previous managers under MA i think pardew will say anything.
I don’t know Gervinho personally but its better not to get any hopes up. Tiote is the only factor we have in getting Gervinho. I didnt say anything was a Fact just purely unlikely.
The names people are suggesting are ambitious.

SO, if he is to take us into europe, to make more money, WTF has it taken him 5 years and a relegation to do so??
Shall i give you a few reasons why i dislike the Fat C B??
1 since he come in he has done nothing but make huge mistake after huge mistake
2 he releases statements about selling the club, gets invited to dubai to sell and doesnt even turn up to the meeting, instead gets P1ssed, mocks the fans and thinks and the Manager who employed then promptly sacked
3 he lied to the fans about the KK debacle, he Had to admit this in a tribunal
4 he has consistently sold our best players and brought in players from lesser leagues / opposition.
5 He has failed to fully back any 1 single Manager he has had at this club.
6 He spoke to the corporate set and conned them into buying boxes at St James by saying he would bring a huge superstar to the club to generate interest and revenue
7 He apoints a Casino Manager to run our club!!!
need i go on
The bloke is a p1ss taking Cock nee turd bag, who has consistently took the p!ss out the fans and treat us wuth nothing but contempt…..

My argument is we never reinvest all the money the squad generates in order that we improve on what we have!!
I think you will also find that the Martins and such like that year werent actually bought by Jabba.
Also, the players bought by Allardyce were already agreed when Fat Mikey boy bought the club!!
So please revisit your little fact filled transfer sheet 😉

Comment #105angryman your arguments suggest you have to spend huge amount of money to get the best players, ok lets see ,
tiote 3.5, hernandez 6mil(or close to), charlie adam 500000k, van persie 3.5mil now theres the first 4 players to pop into my head and the price they were bought for, now for under 15mil you can get 4 of the best (possibly) players in the prem this year, or you can get 1 michael owen, 1/3 of andy carroll or 1/4 of torres , you can find good players for fairly cheap if you dont just want big names,

Comment #106If Enrique can be offered a suggested great contract then why cannot Barton also be offered
one as well? Too many unresolved contradictions here – as always, as usual. Our club will always be in these situations as long as that cowboy bandit from Bucks owns the club. It is sad to see but Pardew is increasingly looking like a wooden dummy sitting on Lame-Arses knee. Give the manager the money and the balls and we can build a good team.

Comment #107Angryman, I think the problem isn’t people like you being realistic. I quite agree with points made.

Comment #109Geoff – I’m afraid that’s just total paranoia. He’s never taken cash from our coffers.
Again, the way to maximise his personal wealth is through Sports Direct. Why take £15m (for arguments sake) out of your football club a year, when with smart trading and a small outlay, you could get into Europe and be making an extra £150-250m a year from your main business? Hypothetical sums, but quite modest considering the market potential of Europes leading footballing nations.

Comment #112I believe before a season starts we should look at the league and say if it all went really well we could get …?
Gone are the days we could dream of saying 1st …
But next season if all goes well 6-7th.
If it all goes wrong 17th will do.
I just don’t want to see Newcastle United switching formations and playing centre-backs in midfield because the squads too small due to lack of investment.
I’d also like to watch us and have a belief that we can actually score a goal against anyone.
Sometimes towards the end of the season we were toothless.
I’d like the owner’s to realise that they get the cash from 52,000 Geordies and viewers on SKY because they want to be entertained.
They have an obligation to put a team on the pitch that is fit to represent NUFC.
Balancing books is cool for Ashley but I want goals and points more.
