Newcastle Bid For N’Zogbia Turned Down

News today in the Daily Mail that Wigan have turned down a £5M offer for Charles N’Zogbia.

Charles N’Zogbia – £5M bid turned down

What Newcastle would bid £5M, when they sold Charles to Wigan two years last January for £6M plus Ryan Taylor is beyond me – because if anything N’Zogbia has improved in his time at Wigan, and certainly has started to add goals to his game.

That’s especially true since Wigan are still in the Premier League.

N’Zogbia tunrs 25 tomorrow, and has scored 18 goals in 88 appearances for Wigan.

But of course initial low bids is the way things go these days, and maybe Wigan would have been daft enough to accepted the bid, and we expect Newcastle to increase their offer.

We even think Charles would be worth up to £10M of the £35M the club received for Andy Carroll in January.

Three players of Charles’ ability would be good business for Newcastle, in place of Andy Carroll.

We hope the recent news that Charles is keen to return to Tyneside is true, because that will help Newcastle in their quest for the player.

We have to admit we criticized Charles big time when he left the club, but he seems to have both improved as a player and became more mature too, and the fact he wants to come back to Newcastle make him a good buy, as far as we are concerned.

Of course because he’s French Arsene Wenger at Arsenal may also be interested in the player, and so are Sunderland, if reports are to be believed.

What do you think?

Don’t know if this is related or not, but a while back somebody suggested on here that Wigan were in the klarts financially. Perhaps that’s why we offered under the odds, as we don’t spread out payments over umpteen years according to DL? Or it could just be we have a cheapskate for an owner?

N’zogbia, for £10 Million?! Please, Ben Arfa only cost us about £5M. I’m sure that we could find better talent overseas, for cheaper prices.

    G,
If wigan were in the clarts, theyll want as much as they can get for Zog, and the fact Whelan hates Fat Cockney B4stards (A man close to my heart) he is gonna be asking for at least 10m from us i would hazard a wild stab at..(Again something i can relate to Cashley)

So point 2 is likely to be the most accurate!!

Oh Pards boyo, you arent doing yourself any favours with the old “we have one player just about over the line, and international CM” and now we have a bid in for a striker and we’ve given someone a weeks deadline to make their mind up???

Dear me, as if your credibility wasnt already rock bottom!!!

PS I am not one of the Pardew Haters tbh, but he aint doing himself any favours is he?

We have given Gervinho a week to decide to come or not, he’s the one. We are meeting with Gamiero after his last game this week to sell the club, but have had our bid accepted for him and N’zogbia is a done deal…..That’s the news I am getting from NE journos. That is what they are hearing. Interesting.

BUT he has allowed himself to be hung out to dry by a spineless bunch of Cockney ar5eholes!!

Haha this in an historic moment. I actually agree with Angryman!

If we do sell Barton we’ll definately miss him. Fair one his crossing is sometimes hit and miss and hes not the quickest.

But he has one of the highest workrates in our team and hes a proper grafter.

Saying this though, maybe its a sign we’re going to sign much higher quality players this summer.

Or that could be my blind optimism kicking in again lol.

I dont think Arsene Wenger is interested in him.

They have just signed a new young player in Japan. Currently on loan to Feyenoord making history.

His first debut already scared the hell out of the oppsition right back just like HBA did to Everton.

I doubt Simpson could even mark him down.

    See Stuart,
Not actually the nasty man on the net am I!!
Im areet in small doses!! Ha ha ha

I just have had 28 years of ups n downs with this club and I can honestly say that this period, over the last 5 years, has been probably the crappiest I have felt over the years…..

You can hark back to mckeags and seymours selling off the family jewels etc, but when you expect that then its not so harsh…

Then you get in the Halls and the shepherds, yes they were blaze to say the least, and they took theyre pound of flesh, but can you honestly argue that they didnt have the right idea re speculate to accumulate…..and you can tell me till your blue in the b0110cks that ‘the club nearly folded like a pack of cards’ but we only have a big fat cockney PROVEN liar telling us that this was the case! We will never ever know the facts on that one, we do know for a fact that he is supposed to have failed to carry out due dilligence and thats how he found out the club was about to….bla bla bla……I also do not believe this.

But, thats my opinion, yes it is a negative opinion but he has not given me or majority of other fans any positives to cling to…..

That will remain my opinion until the fat ar5ehole either sells up or he invests substantially in the squad and retains the best players at the club on a consistent basis!!!!

    That he hasnt done!!

I feel the same but do believe shepeherd was equally cupable. The trophy signings and crazy wages (Shearer and Owen on both over 100K a week) was just unsustainable .

They’ll all tell you different things, the owners of past and present, but ultimately, you’ll believe what you want to believe. Personally, I don’t put too much stock in any of it.

I don’t really want N’Zogbia back, despite his obvious quality, but if he comes back, so be it. I do think that we need people like Nolan and Barton to keep him in line.

Again, I know the point of these blogs is to exchange opinions and so forth, but, as always, we can only wait and see what happens.

Angry – if you want the club to still be here in another 28 years then I’d seriously take a look at what you want! Ashley (like him or not) has put the club in a sound financial position – the best it’s been in years! The days of paying out huge transfer fees and huge wages are gone, we showed that with decent scouting (Tiote) that we don’t have to spend big bucks and pay out huge wages. Money has and will continue to ruin football and in 10 years time we’ll be lucky if we have more than a couple of divisions because all the small teams will be unable to survive!

I for one like what Ashley has done and is doing, he has a manager (again, like him or not) that he wants and trusts and it’d be good to have some stability in this club and actually try and build success over time and not keep demanding it straight away – we’re not the big/top club that we were back in the mid 90’s and fans need to realise that and accept the best we can hope for over the next few years is a cup win (and even that will be tough)

I’m looking forward to a positive summer and firmly believe the club will spend and spend sensibly and not pay over the odds on transfer fees or contracts.

    Rotonda, agreed!!
However, I read somewhere once that Alan Shearers transfer fee was paid in weeks in shirts and merchandise sales alone!!

He wasnt always on 100K +, alot of this also came from merchandising the Shearer ‘Brand’ so to speak!!
Do you reckon Hally and Shepherd were so thick as to offer Shearer such wage packets if they werent making the money??? I doubt it very much, bearing in mind that they also seen NUFC as a cash cow. If they went bump they wouldnt be raking it in thje way they were…its simple business logic

    Owen was a bad move.
But Ill bet alot of the transfer money in his case was made up also by shirt sales??

Im not saying Shperd and Hall were good for the club, but I believe they had a better idea than the big fat incompetent Tw@ that we have now !

    RichK,
Fine mate, I respect your opinion.
But sadly, your aims of just a trophy in the next 28 years is way below where we should all be aiming.
You are talking about the best supported club in the land.
A club with huge commercial pull (Or we did have until fat lad screwed ot all up) now no-one will touch us with a barge pole!! Thats true….

I think with people who have a bit of football nous in charge, who want NUFC to be successful and not just also rans who can sustain themselves, we could again be challenging at the top of the league, without a doubt.

I know that wont happen over night, but it wont happen in a month of sundays with this shower of faeces in charge!!

The days of trophy signings have gone, I dont want them back, but the sale of our best players consistently, because they can make a good profit on them? it marks out the same ambitions you have for the club sir.

Mid table mediocrity with the odd cup! I personally will never be happy with that!
