Shane Ferguson Delighted To Sign New 5 Year Deal

Good news today that top Newcastle prospect Shane Ferguson has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

Shane Ferguson – delighted to be staying on Tyneside

Shane has been little less than a revelation this year, after coming in and deputizing so well when Jose Enrique was out injured.

Northern Ireland international Ferguson (one cap) made his first-team debut against Accrington Stanley in the Carling Cup last August, but has since made an additional 8 appearances, mostly this year, for the first team.

Shane can play at left back or left wing, and has always looked like a terrific young prospect in the Newcastle first team.

Most of us were impressed at how good he looked in the game early in the season at Accrington Stanley,  and we have found out that was no fluke performance.

Ferguson turns 20 on 12th July, and he had this to say on the Newcastle United site today:

“I’m really happy. I’ve enjoyed this season so much and the new contract has just been the icing on the cake for me.”

“It’s a great thrill to play for the club and the support I’ve had from the fans since making my debut really means a lot.”

“So I’m just delighted to be with Newcastle for the next five years now.”

That’s a win win situation for both Shane and Newcastle United, and the youngster is already well liked by Newcastle fans- he seems a smashing lad.

It seems that Newcastle first choice left back, Jose Enrique,  will be in his way this summer, and the club will bring in an experienced left-back as cover, but most  fans would be happy with this lad in the side, given his great appearances this season.

Comments very welcome.

    good signing..

as for barton..if reports are true..

    tiote marvin
    gervinho or menez hba jonas
    gramero or..??

    where would barton play?

& im quite excited about that new signing ABEID..23 goals in 19 games (although lens reserves) is quite an amazing achievement for a 18y.o…especially for a midfielder..even if its only for a reserve team..
besides..joey said “moneys not the problem”..so offer him 3 year deal with an option for 4th..for 20k per week..if that statement is true he will sign..if he lied, he wont..easy..

As long as he goes for fees similar to 35m and we sign another handful of players who cares? That is the cycle of football my friends. Welcome to it.

Make sure he build some muscle this summer. Shane can be a lot better with strength.

Maybe Jose is having second thoughts now that the bindippers didn’t make it ito Europe???

If he goes, it won’t be to them as he wants to play in Europe… if he does go to them, he’s been lying through his teeth about that… 🙁

Well chuffed for Fergie, defo one for the future & a decent squad player for now imo.. 🙂

Great news. Ferguson has impressed already. Definitely could improve by putting on some muscle but has pace, shows no fear and is very direct with the ball.

Good news for NUFC and SF. Just the sort of player we need to light the fuse and ignite the passion around the stadium on match days.

Why does Lee put capitals at the beginning of every word? It’s just straight-up weird… And in all honesty, one exclamation mark is always enough.
