News today in the Daily Mirror that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew wants to get Demba Ba from West Ham on a free transfer.
Demba Ba – 7 goals in 13 West Ham appearances
It turns out that Demba Ba’s agent wasn’t daft when he had the player sign on for West Ham in January, after the player had failed a medical on his knee at Stoke City.
The Senegal striker’s contract stated that if West Ham were relegated he would be released from his contract and become a free agent.
So the player is now a free agent and will be attracting some interest from clubs, although that knee situation could become a problem.
The former 1899 Hoffenheim player, who was born in France, showed he can score goals in the top English league by hitting 7 goals in 13 appearances for the Hammers, so he could do a lot better in a better team – like Newcastle.
Newcastle are reported to be putting together a lucrative deal, to attract the 6’3″ striker to Newcastle – and he wants to stay in England, if at all possible.
We’re not sure of the validity of this report, but he has already been linked with Newcastle since the end of the season.
If Newcastle brought in two strikers this summer, one of which was Demba Ba – we wouldn’t be grumbling too much, as he’s a better striker than Newcastle have at the moment.
But his knee is a concern, and if Newcastle do indeed go after the player, they will give the 10 times capped Senegal striker a very through medical on Tyneside, and maybe even contact Stoke to ascertain what they found as a problem with the knee.
Sunderland (of course) are also interested in the player, although the Mirror report says Newcastle are more focused right now in getting the player.
From what we’ve seen of him, he looks a very good player in the Premier League, and certainly scored some good goals for West Ham this year, and if his knee is OK we think he would be a good signing for Newcastle.
There’s one or two ifs and buts there of course because of the knee.
What do you think of Demba Ba?
Comments welcome.

Comment #121Would love to see Demba Ba in Newcastle, but with his knee i hope it’ll be some kind of “pay as you play” contract.

Comment #124Id personally much rather go for Sturridge (proven player) over Gameiro who seems to have his heart set on spain and imo there is no point “forcing” a player to play in a league/team he wont be comfortable in

Ohan Cabaye will leave the LOSC on doublé.Photo Ludovic Maillard
Under contract until June 2013, Yohan
Cabaye has, it seems, reached agreement with leaders of the club
English Newcastle and was to finalize the details of his future
contract yesterday. The transfer should be formalized by a dozen
days.

According to our information, Yohan Cabaye is about to commit
with the Newcastle club. Yesterday the midfielder northerner
met again with the leaders with his English
agent. They had to finalize all the details of his
contract.
Yohan Cabaye was the only player in the LOSC to have a clause
release, set at 5 million. But a transfer to his
new club will be formalized after the three matches the team
France, for which he was selected.
Pedretti and Martin?
The Lille LOSC wore the shirt since the age of twelve years and has
already issued, in previous seasons, the desire to discover another
club. So the side of St. James Park, is already evolving Hatem Ben
Arfa, he chose to put his cleats.
Leaders northerners, who expected departure, will be able
move up a gear in terms Benoit Pedretti, who has
already agreed. They have not abandoned the idea of recruiting
Sochaux Marvin Martin, very busy, and Kevin Anin, even if its
profile is a bit more defensive than Yohan Cabaye.w

He’s reading news now and telling everybody cabayo is through the door, along with gameiro, gervinho, zoggy, emana, pratley, Ireland, and 3 mystery players who checked in!!
But beware, they have medical issues and agents can get better deals and may break down at last minute!!!

Comment #141Courted by PSG and Valencia striker Kevin Gameiro Lorient has also been approached by Newcastle. After submitting a new offer of nearly twelve million, the Magpies have prompted the French international to visit their facilities.
Available in June 2012, Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro (24 years) is still the top priority of recruitment of Paris Saint-Germain , which has also targeted Dimitri Payet (St Etienne), Alou Diarra (Bordeaux) and Milan Bisevac (Valenciennes ). Robin Leproux, club president of the Capital, has yet to meet his counterpart Hake, Loïc Féry, last week. The Capital Club is ready to align with the current rates (10-12 M €). But the former Strasbourg is still waiting whether teammates Claude Makelele will achieve or not snatch third place in the classification, documentation of qualification for the preliminary round of the next edition of the Champions League.
In addition, Kevin Gameiro still favors the trail in Valencia, who offered him a four-year contract. While the French international has expressed the wish to be fixed as soon as possible on its future, Spanish leaders have recently renewed negotiations with their counterparts in Lorient, who had brushed aside a proposal from the hand of seven million euros payable in installments during the last Mercato. If departure of the Italian Giuseppe Rossi FC Barcelona, ??Villarreal is also on the move. Ditto for Lyon, Lille or Tottenham, who face yet supervised in Nice (2-0, 37th day of Ligue 1) the last weekend. Harry Redknapp, the manager of the Spurs, had made ??the trip.
But as we announced earlier, Newcastle was also positioned on the concrete case of Kevin Gameiro (Ed.: Mevlut Erding and Djibril Cisse are also tracked), which however did not necessarily seem very excited by the Prime League. In search of a successor to Andy Carroll, who left Liverpool, the Magpies have sent a new offer estimated at around twelve million euros (Sheikh M’Bengue, Toulouse left-back has also been the subject of a new proposal). The native of Senlis was also invited to visit the facilities of the club coached by Alan Pardew which operates including the former Lyon and Marseille player Hatem Ben Arfa. Operation Seduction is launched (the former coach of West Ham has also targeted Yohan Cabaye, and Charles N’Zogbia Gervinho). Even if for the moment, Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia remain above the player’s preference.
sorry for that but thats translated

Comment #144I think Yohan was the surprise signing. I’m not sure. However, he is brilliant. He’s a free kick specialist if people don’t know. Huge flair, will work perfect alongside/behind Arfa. Cannot wait. Looks like its concrete. Facebook/Twitter/Youtube = source.
