There is news today in the People that Newcastle are interested in Wolves tough midfielder and captain Karl Henry.
Karl Henry - are Newcastle really interested?
I’m not at all sure what the attraction of Karl Henry would be for Newcastle, since he seems to be a liability, in that he keeps getting far too yellow cards with some over physical and rather reckless tackles.
We already have Cheick Tiote at Newcastle who has that particular area of his game he needs to improve big time for next season.
28 year-old Karl started his career at Stoke City back in 2000, before moving to Wolves in 2008, but we wonder if he’s good enough to play for Newcastle – we doubt it.
Henry played 136 times with one goal for Stoke City, and has played 196 times with 7 goals at Wolves.
If the news is true that Joey Barton is about to move to Everton, then Newcastle will now need to strengthen their central midfield, given that wingers were always a target for this summer.
But the loss of Barton would also take away an influential leader at Newcastle and we wonder what that will do to the team spirit, not to mention the effect it could have on other Newcastle players, like Kevin Nolan and Gutierrez, to mention just two.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

4 Mags // May 29, 2011 at 10:07 AM
God I hope not
5 Thump // May 29, 2011 at 10:07 AM
Certainly bloody hope not. No room for a player like him – he’s an insult to football alongside De Jong.
6 hainesy // May 29, 2011 at 10:08 AM
Again we get our hopes up then get linked with this s**t. Until we have our first paid for signing announced we don’t have a clue at the quality of players we are in for. Make it Gervinho and we will all be happy.

Ha Ha Ha on that…

This Barton situation is madness.
Negotiation is about compromise.
Hopefully both sides can “calm down” and reach a deal.
Barton’s too valuable to NUFC to let him go.
He’s one of the few top quality players we have.
It’s the under-achievers that need to be replaced.
Karl Henry … omg I thought the Carlton Cole rumour was bad enough.
9 BonVoyageBenny // May 29, 2011 at 10:12 AM
YES!! Just imagine him and Tiote in our midfield…
Sarcasm obviously, and if he’s being used as a replacement for Barton, we can do a lot better…

horrible player , struggles to pass the ball further than two yards
even his “tough tackling” tag is questionable , he seems to miss all the tackles he goes for rather than connecting ..

12 toonbelmonter // May 29, 2011 at 10:20 AM

13 benarfastar // May 29, 2011 at 10:26 AM

14 roshan MAGPIE // May 29, 2011 at 10:26 AM
this is just a rumour ashley wont spend on a player who is 28 year old he wants player in the range of 24
15 Stuart // May 29, 2011 at 10:28 AM
Everyone remember its Sunday, the day when all newspapers officially decide to print the first names that come to their head.
Henry won’t be coming here, he has absolutely nothing to offer us.

Toonbel… I think we are going to get nzogbia and we still hve a chance of getting marveaux on a free. This cabaye lad is a very good player, ive been watching a few games to see if gervinho was as good as i thought and cabaye and hazard were pulling all the strings for lille. If we get gervinho i think we will play 4231 next year so no room for nolan or barton but the team will have alot of pace. Gervinho deadline is today apparently.
17 toonarmy09 // May 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM

21 Thump // May 29, 2011 at 10:33 AM
Lol just imagine this team:
Simmo – Sayls – Colo – Bull
Barton – Smith – Tiotè – Henry – Jonas
Cole
Team to finish bottom of the fair play table with flying colours!
22 geoff777 // May 29, 2011 at 10:37 AM
@Thump
You left out Perch .. he’s a bit of a card magnet.
23 Lee Dodd // May 29, 2011 at 10:38 AM
Who are We Not Signing ???? Just Heard From a Mate of Mine A Reporter at The Daily Mirror Down South who says Mike Ashley Has Just Met With Boycey and Is Doing a Deal on some Dodgey Motors and Will Be having an advertising deal at St James’ (Boyce Motors). Del Boy Is Knockin out some Knock of Gear at St James outside the Ground and has Just Signed Rodney up on a 5 Year Deal as a Centre Forward. (Rodney Doesn’t Know This Yet ).. And Trigger has Just Got the Contract to Sweep the Ground !!!!!!
24 The Entertainers // May 29, 2011 at 10:39 AM
Won’t happen!
25 Stuart // May 29, 2011 at 10:40 AM
Lee Dodd, does every other word have to have a capital letter and every post finish with 10 exclamation marks to make it sound exciting?
It really isnt you know.

27 Lee Dodd // May 29, 2011 at 10:47 AM
If We have Signed Cabaye That is Probably Why Mike Ashley has decided not to offer Joey Barton a bigger contract !!!!! He will Be a Good Signing and Springboard for Other Good Signings !!!!!
28 splodge4nufc // May 29, 2011 at 10:50 AM
no no and err no , this is total bull , graham carr is the best scout in the league and this is simply a silly rumour
29 FarEastGeordie // May 29, 2011 at 10:56 AM
Now we are linked with every Carlton Cole and his dog (Karl Henry). Just take every rumour with a pinch of salt and leave the cursings till they are unveiled.
30 JAMSHA // May 29, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Il kick his butt if he signs for toon
31 Phil K // May 29, 2011 at 11:34 AM
They’d better effing not sign this peabrained thug.
32 Phil K // May 29, 2011 at 11:38 AM
The_Ciaran8 – if that is true, I’m absolutely delighted. Now he IS what we should be going after ! Not deadbeats like Henry and Cole !
And 5 mill. Good deal !
He’d replace Barton perfectly.
33 leazes upper // May 29, 2011 at 11:49 AM
I bloody hope not but wouldn’t be suprised.id imagine he’d be cheap so the fat man wud be happy
34 AndyMac // May 29, 2011 at 12:07 PM
Was it not Pardwho the Clueless who said “We’ll bring in players to get fans off their seats ?”
Dont think they’re supposed to walk out after they’ve got up though

38 stephen1971 // May 29, 2011 at 1:31 PM
rather see hargreeves in on a free transfer with a pay as you play contract , good stand in for tiote
39 Vinicinhos // May 29, 2011 at 4:44 PM
No,no,no and NOOOO
I prefer Hargreaves too, with a pay as you play contract.
And I like Ilsinho.RM, he has a dribbler, great player, played for Shakhtar, won Europa League. And is free agent in July
