Chance To Vote For Newcastle Player Of The Season

It’s that time of year again when you can vote for the Newcastle United Blog Player of the Season.

We’ve set the bar at 15 appearances for the season, so that rules out both Leon Best and Steven Taylor, and only players still at the club are eligible, so that also rules out Andy Carroll.

Previous winners were Habib Beye in 2008, Sebastian Bassong in 2009 and Jose Enrique last year.

And it could be come September, that not one of those players is still at Newcastle – if Jose leaves this summer.

Each reader is allowed just one vote – so here’s your chance to vote if you haven’t already done so, and if you’ve already voted you will see the current standings of the poll below:

Who Was Newcastle's Player Of The Season?

  • Cheick Tiote (38%, 941 Votes)
  • Joey Barton (31%, 754 Votes)
  • Kevin Nolan (13%, 311 Votes)
  • Fabricio Colocccini (11%, 283 Votes)
  • Jose Enrique (4%, 108 Votes)
  • Jonas Gutierrez (3%, 74 Votes)

Total Voters: 2,486

Wonder if Enrique would have more votes if he decided to sign a new contract

Still Barton 4 me, nowt’s changed.

If we do sell Jose, Barton, Nolan and maybe Jonas then we will be changing a huge portion of our starting line up for next season and that could well be dangerous. We could replace them with better quality but would the team work be there initially and who knows what the feel in the dressing room would be like if the core of the first team were removed.

and let’s not worry about injuries or European players taking half or a full season to adjust.

Ashley playing FM with our club 🙁

I would have voted for Cheikh too but hes missed a lot of the games due to suspension, not always his fault as his rep precedes him on most occasions.
I still think we should have played him vs wbrom, worth the risk for the points and cash.
If he was booked he misses 3 games next season (not sure if friendlies are included) but we will not need him as much next season with different strikers on the pitch IMHO.
Voted for ST Joseph, played out of position most of the season and was still the most creative player we had, again IMHO.
    Roll on next season HWTL

Just read this. It’s not as exciting as the players we’ve been linked to but still important.

It’s a close one between Tiote, Coloccini and Barton for player of the year for me.

Really pleased with Cabaye, especially for that price. Looks like Graham Carr has found some great talent for us in France. Rudi Garcia, the Lille manager, said about Cabaye “With his intelligence and techinical game, Yohan Cabaye could easily play in the starting X1 of Barcelona”.

Nothing is confirmed until the club confirms it… for all we know we might not even be interested in Cabaye…

I could just as easily say Messi has signed for Newcastle….

In other words, don’t get your hopes up!

Not trying to be a negative Nelly… just being realistic…

    Greek toon;

Cabaye is a very good player. I watch a bit of french football. He reminds me a bit of Modric, but not as good, he is very lightweight though so I hope he can adjust to the english game. Arsenal and Bayern Munich have been linked with him in the past year.
