Newcastle Have Made Five Bids So Far

As far as we can tell,  Newcastle have already put in as many as 5 actual bids for different players this month alone.

Johan Cabaye – deal agreed for this French International

Newcastle have agreed one deal, verified today by the Sunday Sun, and that’s Johan Cabaye from Lille, although that has not been made official yet, and the deal is not yet signed.

Cabaye will be in action tonight for Lille, the French Champions, as well as Ivory Coast winger Gervinho, so it may be worth Newcastle fans watching that game against Rennes, if possible.

Here are the bids that have been made:

  • Yesterday there were reports in France said Newcastle had agreed a deal with Lille and Johan Cabaye.
It seems to have been an excellent deal by Newcastle who have taken advantage of a buyout clause of €5M, which is about £4.3M for the 25 year-old box to box French International midfielder.
This lad must be a good player since Arsenal were the other club after him.
  • Reports in France yesterday said that Newcastle had made a second offer of £6M for French U21 International left-back Cheikh M’Bengue of Toulouse, Newcastle made their first bid of £5M in mid April for the player, and we assume that this will only go through only  if Jose Enrique decides to leave Newcastle.
  • And potential good news in the Sunday Sun today, that Newcastle are now confident of making it a double raid on Lille, by also getting a deal completed for Ivory Coast winger Gervinho – one of  Newcastle’s top targets.
The local Sunday paper says that Gervinho has a choice between two clubs – with Newcastle one of those sides.
  • A couple of days ago there were reports that Newcastle had made a second bid for Lorient French International striker Kevin Gameiro. Newcastle made an initial £8M bid a couple of weeks back, but are said to have gone back in with an improved bid of £10M. That’s for a player whose first choice club seems to be Valencia in Spain.
  • News yesterday that Newcastle had made an initial bid of £5M for former Newcastle winger Charles N’Zogbia. Wigan have turned down that offer, which is less than Newcastle sold him to Wigan for about 30 months ago.
We assume Newcastle will go back with an improved offer for the French International, who was at Newcastle for four and a half years.

In addition to the above, Newcastle have recently been linked with midfielder Achille Emana of Real Betis in Spain, Danny Graham of Watford, the 25 year old Geordie striker who was born in Gateshead, and is keen to join his home town club, and Swiss International winger Tranquillo Barnetta of German club Bayer Leverkusen.

So Newcastle, to their credit, have been extremely active so far in the transfer market, with one success so far.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed on the others.

And potentially more good news in that I have received several emails today that Joey Barton has come out on
his official twitter page – Joey7Barton – and said he’s not joining Everton and doesn’t want to leave Newcastle.

That’s good news indeed.

Comments welcome.

We will not get all five but I’m sure of at least 3. Gameiro and Gervinho will be the most important as we need attackers desperately.

Tranquillo Barnetta is one of the most talented midfielders i have seen. In my opinion he is like the Swiss David Beckham. Has an absolute beauty cross, and free kick. Has very good power shots/ long shots, and almost always takes penalties. He is a excellent player and we should immediately go sign him up. I have seen him play on more than one games. Trust me you guys will see how good he is when we sign him up! 5 million is a absolute steal! Just get a target man/ striker who is good at headers and goals will be flying in form here and there.

Please, give a contract to Barton.

N’Zogbia would be a good sign and I like Gervinho too.Cabaye is great, score goals and give many assists.

    We need a RB.

And I would be happy if we bring Ilsinho.Great RM, he is a dribbler, played for Shakhtar, won Europa League, and will be free agent in July.

I remeber watching barnetta in euro 2008 he has pace and has good croos of the ball and also h is tricky so is a good winger and he is also a good set piece taker and can pick out a good pass so if we get him good times ahead at newcastle

I think everyone needs to remember that signing these great players doesnt automatically say we have a formidable strike force… look at collo, jose, guti as well as malouda, dzeko & many others that have been brilliant then come to england and been absolutely rum their first few seasons…

I want to be smashing in 5 against 5under1and both games next season but i dont want to put all my hopes on these players just yet incase they flop…. Prem is a hard league as well all know and the greats have struggled like Shevchenko..

well all ive got to say about barton situation is he was offered a contract in january rejected it so f**k him his choice weve stuck by him through jail etc and hes supposedly turned it down for the sake of an extra year. hes been great this season on the right but for 1st 8 games or so in the middle he was mince. not bothered about nolan either to be honest the guy has no energy cant last 90 mins and at his age and 50-60k a week to me isnt worth it. since carroll has left what has nolan done really??? most games ive seen him hes been average. i wish people would stop bitching about pardew all the time he talks too much etc, most of you guys always moan when noone from club talks to media and has soon as someone does you say he talks too much your just a bunch of tits! i was his biggest fan when he took over but you cant take away the fact that weve played good football under him only if we had a striker since xmas that was a natural goalscorer. if we had one we would of finished 7th i reckon and i bet you would of all still said hes no good. just get behind the man hes in charge of the team just accept it stop bringing up hughtons name in all! judge pardew end of next season presuming hes still in charge. if we get gervinho,,’nzogbia, cabaye and gameiro where would nolan and barton fit into your team??????????? they wouldnt
