Newcastle Favorites To Sign West Ham’s Demba Ba

There was some very good news for Newcastle fans this morning – if it’s true – that Newcastle have met Manchester United’s  £7.5M valuation for Dimitar Berbatov, and are trying to bring the player to Newcastle.

Demba Ba – Newcastle favorites to get this player?

And there’s even more potentially good news on the striker transfer front this morning, if the reports are to be believed.

Newcastle are now said to be favorites to sign West Ham striker Demba Ba. – and look ready to beat Sunderland and Everton to the player’s signature.

Ba’s availability as a free agent had started a scramble for his signature, but news yesterday was that he wanted a sizable signing on bonus and huge wages too.

So whether Newcastle would be willing to meet these requirements we don’t know, and of course he would always need to pass a medical on the dodgy knee of his.

He failed the medical at Stoke in January before eventually signing on at West Ham where the Senegal striker hit 7 goals in 13 games for the relegated east London club.

We don’t know if this story is true or not, or whether the possible acquisition of Berbatov to Newcastle could see the magpies even pull out of this one – but of course Demba Ba is a free agent so could be squired fairly cheaply.

Berbatov and Demba Ba up front would be an awesome strike partnership for Newcastle next season.

These two pieces of news this morning may be just too good to be true.

Let’s just put a pin in my arm – ouch! – so I’m not dreaming this, 😀

A risk, but he could turn out to be a very good risk. He looks capable of far more than he achieved with WHU.

Can we just replace all our strikers? Ba, Gameiro, Gervinho. Already sounds better than what we have…

@cwarr07 I just asked that guy if the deals he is claiming is signed on the dotted lines or lots of verbal agreements in place which I think is the most lightly thing meaning we won’t sign any of these players as someone will come in for them before we seal the deal and he can bullshit to us that they broke a promise.

Someone slap me because it seems to good to be true!! I don’t believe the Berba hype – makes no sense and goes against everything we know Ashley does. Ba I can see happening and would love it + Gameiro or Long would sort our strikers right out.

Would be a great acquisition, has a descent pedigree, is the big strong type, and has proven he can score goals, even in a poor PL team.

Him and a potential world class striker like Gameiro or Gervinho would be ideal in my books! Would love Gervinho most of all as he gives us options and cover for the wing, he’d be great in a 4-3-3, Ba in the middle, and Arfa and Gervinho at either side!!

For free? It’s a no brainer. Bring in a few strikers, I don’t want to see Shola and MacLoven up front again. Those two are CCC players.

i seen long play for the republic against uruguay we lost 3-2 and the comentaters said it was the best performance by an irish striker in years he would definitly cut it and knows where the back of the net is he would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Not worth the risk for me like.

I would rather Play Demba on the bench if we are to sign Berbatov and Gameiro. But if we dont sign gameiro, Berbatov and Ba will not work, they are both big lads with no pace.

He had decent game in my opinion. It looks like you only saw him yesterday. Throught the season he was class. He’s young and can only improve. I don’t mind the signing of Long and Graham to be honest. I believe those 2 can make the step up and could be terrific signing.

How can he be a risk when he comes in on a free??

He is better than what we have!

How many games do Strolla and Best miss thru injury, how many games does Ranger miss for being a c0*k?? But they are still getting paid.

Ed is there any source to this statement that we are now in the driving seat for Ba? As for long, as I’m Irish and see Long play quite a lot, he is a good honest forward who knows where the net is, but he is no better than Best when Best is in the team regularly and Long would not be what we need to take us to that next level (Europe)

Yeah but if the rumours are to be believed Richy, Ba will be on alot more a week than probably Strola, Best and Ranger put together as I doubt those three are on very high wages.

Long is a good player……Danny Graham I’m not convinced at all…..Would be happy having a punt on Long and getting in an experienced and proven forward as well ( contrary to popular belief) you are NOT too old if you are 26+….

Another injury prone strike sensation in Ba? Gimme a break, Michael Owen anyone? 1 fit decent striker is worth 10 sensational bench warmers. We hardly have the greatest reputation on the injury front. Stoke turned him down, west ham are chancers. Whoever we bring in must have played 75% of their clubs games in the last season. Flavour of the month I’m afraid.
