Danny Simpson To Sign New Five Year Deal At Newcastle

News in the Daily Mail today that Newcastle right back Danny Simpson is set to sign a new five year deal at the club.

Danny Simpson – to get new 5 year deal

Danny signed a deal 18 months ago, when Newcastle were still in the England second division, and the terms of that contract were a lot less than he was looking for.

It was said to be around £10K/week. so in that context it makes some sense that he gets a new improved contract,  after becoming Newcastle’s first choice right back.

Danny made 31 appearances for the first team last season, and so far has 72 total appearances and one goal for the Tyneside club.

Danny had two years left on his contract so this takes him to the summer of 2016, and his form last season was so good that apparently England selectors were taking a close look at him.

But Danny still needs to improve, and maybe with another full season in the Premier League he can reach his full potential next year.

It seems that talks have already been proceeding on a new deal, and the Salford-born 24 year-old is expected to sign the new five year deal soon.

Well at least some players at Newcastle get offered deals.

We’d love to see Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique sign new deals at Newcastle, but it’s looking like maybe only the captain Kevin Nolan, will do that.

All three of those players were in our top five for Newcastle United Blog Player of the Season award – which Cheick Tiote won.

Comments welcome.

He’s one of the poorest right backs we have had in a long time. He doesn’t make a single tackle and stands off wingers so much. He gives them so much room. Half the goals in the 2nd half of hour season has come from his flank. Speaks volumes.

But as with the case of Enrique and Collocini i’ll judge him next season. I’ll give him a benefit of doubt to improve as much as possible.

Wonder if James Tavenier is ready to compete for that RB spot with Simmo. Should be given a few games to prove himself.

That’s a fair comment toonbelmonter. He wants to play attacking football and is trying to identify the right type of players which us fans have been saying we’ve needed since sir bobby. I think pardew has been ok so far and im warming to him more and more.

Seems to learn from his mistakes.

I have to say he is not very clever and young tavernier is already as good as him, i would say last season was amongst the three worst full backs in the league, am sorry for the negativity on this on but the lad has not got a second gear, just a workhorse type who constantly gets caught out of position. championship player at best for me.

Yorkshire toon- you’re talking utter shite. Barton has clearly stated at several talk ins recently that he is currently on £60k a week but will drop to £40k but the club will not give him more than 20k a week. No player would have dropped 2/3’s of their wages. Would you!!??

I did say early doors toonbelmonter that this would NOT happen, that it was all crud and we had no chance as Fat maggott will not sign players of this calibre….he will not pay more than 10m for one player!!

I was shot down by YOU and many others, and remember, it was only my opinion that this was the case.

IF they do sign a player for more than ten million, and I have also said this, I will b e as happy as a cock with 2 hens. I WANT the man to prove me wrong….desperately…….but I dont think he EVER will prove me wrong!!!

And those who poo poo my opinions and shout me down, will have it rubbed into theior faces if I am right….its my perogative!!

Let’s be honest though- most people on here are deluded and think we’ll be making 3/4 ten million pound signings. That will not happen.

Also how FICKLE are most of you!? Forget Barton/Nolan et al and let’s buy some French players. It’s Barton/Nolan et al who got us promoted and are our heartbeat. WAKE UP!!!!!!!

Yeah we can, we need a mix. But we must keep an English core to the team. Man u, Chelsea, spurs, Liverpool, man city all have this. Look at all of europes top teams, they all have core of home grown players
