Gameiro or Gervinho – Enrique Or M’Bengue

The Newcastle Journal is reporting today that either Kevin Gameiro of Lorient or Gervinho of Lille will sign for Newcastle soon.

Cheikh M’Bengue – will replace Enrique if Jose leaves

At least they are consistent in saying that only one of the two will be signed, so it remains to be seen if the club can persuade Kevin to join Newcastle with Kevin preferring to play his football in Spain.

Apparently Gameiro is first choice over Gervinho – according to the Journal.

Newcastle have already agreed a £10M deal with Lorient, which will be paid in cash, and with Gervinho saying he will announce which club he will join this week – push is coming to shove – and maybe we’ll know which player will join Newcastle by the end of this week.

Newcastle are also interested in Toulouse left-back Cheikh M’Bengue, and Newcastle recently made an improved £6M for the player.

With Enrique’s advisers supposedly  meeting with Newcastle officials this week on a new contract,  we will soon know what the deal is on Enrique, so to speak.

Jose’s soap opera has gone on far too long, and he needs to make a decision soon, and if he decides to move on it looks like Newcastle will quickly bring in the 22 year-old French U21 left back.

But it’s looking like Liverpool may not be able to offer Enrique as good a deal as Newcastle will – so that could make things even more interesting.

But we don’t think Jose will necessarily be a big miss if  he leaves, because Cheikh looks a good player, and Newcastle also have young Shane Ferguson, who has shown he is very competent anywhere on the left side of the pitch.

Also French International and Lille midfielder,  25 year-old Yohan Cabaye,  will complete his move to Newcastle when he returns from international duty next week.

Things are starting to move fairly nicely for Newcastle in this summer’s transfer market.

I would take Gervinho over Gamerio if I had a choice, not to take anything away from Gamerio, just Gervinho looks the classier of the 2 players. I would also rather keep Jose than M’benque purely based on the fact that Jose has prem experience.

If this is what Cashley is going to do its not as exciting as it was made out. Why not just bring all 3 of those in. We have at the very least 35m!

    Gervinho 15m
    Gamiero 10m
    M.Bengue 6m

thats only 31m, then 4.5m for Cabaye makes it 35.5m

…However what I don’t understand is how can we say we are only going for one out of the two, yet talk to the players and agree terms…so what we are going to piss one player right off, when we agree terms and then we go back and say “sorry we prefer this lad now, bye”??

    Something doesn’t seem right.

Because its hardly smart to get two EPL unproven expensive forwards. For all we know they could end up being Albert Luque’s!

Imo, the smart choice is one International forward, and an EPL proven forward, so atleast we are gaurenteed 1 proven goalscorer (In the EPL)

Pete Martel- As I posted last night my Grandad is very close to some of the top dogs inside the club and has some great friendships with the former players and Sir John Hall.

If we got Gervinho and snubbed Gameiro, it would really affect him, since he wants to play in Spain.

Hopefully Enrique stays and i don’t think we will get Gervinho or Gameiro. Just come back from France and my mates there reckon NUFC and Bolton are after Park Chu Young after Monaco’s relegation.

it says in the journal were close to getting mbengue if enrique doesnt sign, so with enrique in talks sumtime this week, maybe mbengue will sign next week if enrique doesnt sign, n tbh as muh as a doubt it ad prefer gervinho over gameiro tbh, a dnt want sum1 here coz we were his last resort, let him go to a skint club, he hasnt shut up about spain, if he signs for us he’ll give an interview about how “he wanted to cum all along” n “i am realy happy to be here” n we’ll all know hes lieing so
    no gameiro please
    doubt gervinho gunna cum

Park Chu Young wouldnt be a bad buy! Wouldnt mind him @ the Toon

With Atsuto Uchida as a Rightback!

We can have an Asian Rightsided partnership and a left sided french partnership (Arfa and Mbengue)

Nufc_mo… Apparently Monaco want £5 million for him but the fee could be as low as £2.5 as he is desperate to leave. Although his form has dipped since the turn of the year, he has been playing in a poor side. Also South Korea would be a perfect market for NUFC to exploit financially.

I really want jose to stay too!

I dont think he is irreplaceable as a LB, im sure we can find an equally good LB but the one thing we will struggle to get is someone as good going forward as him.

And his link up with Jonas has to be the best in the league this year on the left hand side

why cant we just get both or get gervinho and berbatov as berbatov is few million cheaper than gameiro and is already a proven goalscorer in the premier league then we can play

ben arfa cabaye nolan tiote gervinho
    berbatov
then our team will be solid in midfield and team will stick with the big boss in the middle and would only cost £21.3m

joseismyhero, nobody is denying that, however, Gervinho can play as a forward (admittedly with limited impact), but for the money being quoted for Gameiro I think we can do better.

Berbatov was never gonna happen but just so everyone knows he’s come out and said he wants to stay at ManU. So that ‘s over also they’ve given Owen a new one year deal. Fergie must have had too much vino when he made that decision.

I wouldn’t like to be Tiote in that Midfield. He would be a one man band when defending.

What is irritating me is this… The talk of gervinho or gameiro. Id have both. If we got one of them, has anyone realised that if he picks up any injuries, shola will be in and wer back to square one.

Is it too obvious really to see that wed be a better team with both g and g?

    Blindingly for me.

as someone has said, its very strange to have em both lined up to then say, nah sorry mate we’ve got someone better than u, guneet. Get em both. Im really hoping we do.

Demba Ba has to be seriously looked at for free! Surely! He would be a great addition to our team. Was unreal for Westham when he came over.

kirky so youre suggusting we buy a winger and a striker for a combined fee of 22 million, along with cabaye for 5mil, so we only have 8 mill to get
    rb cover
    cb cover
    lb
    tiote cover
    1 more winger
    1 more striker,
the reason its 1 or the other is they want 1 marquee signings and a few carr signing wich to me is a good idea
