Robbie Keane would have been a good loan signing for Newcastle last season, but there can be no way Newcastle are still interested in the Ireland captain.
Robbie Keane – surely no interest from Newcastle?
The Irishman spent this year on loan at West Ham, but he was out so much, that he did little to help the east London club’s survival efforts, and they were relegated.
There seems no way that the Hammers will be able to afford Robbie in the second division, and if anything they will need to sell their best players like Scotty Parker, Robert Green and Carlton Cole.
But it remains to be seen what new manager Sam Allardyce thinks about Robbie, but we’d be surprised if big Sam would be interested in keeping him at the Hammers.
Keane is not wanted by Tottenham, and he’s played very little football over the last season or two, since he couldn’t get his game at White Hart Lane.
This is what Robbie, who turns 31 next month, said today:
“I’ve only got one year left there so I am sure Spurs will probably want to do business on me,”
“For me it is about enjoying my football and playing as much as I can.”
The news is that Fulham are interested in Robbie, and he has stated many times before his preference is to remain in London, where his family and friends are.
And even when he was on loan at Celtic last year, he spent a lot of his time in London traveling north and south during the loan spell.
Robbie may also be past his best, and certainly for West Ham, he did not look outstanding in his 9 appearances and two goals.
With his preference to remain in London, and with his astronomical wages, there’s just no way Newcastle will still be interested in this player.
What do you think?
