Newcastle Bid For N’Zogbia Or Hoilett – Or Both?

We know Newcastle like to get a bargain – but when are they going to put in a decent bid for French International winger Charles N’Zogbia?

Charles N’Zogbia – second bid rejected

Newcastle got £6M plus Ryan Taylor for the 25 year-old 30 months ago, and if anything the lad has improved in his time at Wigan.

So Newcastle got £6M or £7M for him, depending how you price in Ryan Taylor, and the news today is that Newcastle have had a second bid for Charles turned down.

This time the bid was £6M, and it follows an initial  bid late last week that was said to be £5M.

Wigan are said to want close to £10M for the Frenchman, and he may be worth close to that, and Charles could certainly provide both penetration and goal scoring ability down either the right wing or left wing at Newcastle.

Although he doesn’t like to play at the back, the Frenchman can also perform well at left back – when he has to – although his skill is better used up front.

Newcastle may be trying to get either N’Zogbia or a 20 year-old Canadian youngster we have been linked with recently – David Hoilett of Blackburn Rovers.

20 year-old David Hoilett Jr – of Blackburn Rovers

Just like Newcastle have done with Kevin Gameiro and Gervinho, they will go after both, but will only sign one of them – it’s now looking like Gervinho – Newcastle may be after either Charles N’Zogbia or David Hoilett and will take the one  they can get the better deal for.

Of course N’Zogbia is much more of the finished product,  but Hoilett has looked a young and classy player for Rovers this season, and the lad scored 6 goals in 28 appearances for Blackburn last season, when they just avoided relegation.

There’s some reports today that Hoilett may even want to leave Blackburn, but we have no idea if that’s just made up, to make it sound more interesting. 😀

Steve Kean hopes to visit Hoilett and his family in Ontario in a couple of weeks, and Newcastle presumably will also want to talk to the player, if they get permission from Rovers.

We still think N’Zogbia would be a decent buy for Newcastle, but it may be that if the Magpies can’t get a good deal, they may give up on Charles, as they did today on French left-back Cheikh M’Bengue

Newcastle had a £5M offer turned down by his French club Toulouse in mid-April, and have decided not to raise that offer, despite reports late last week in France that they had gone in with an improved  £6M offer.

Well – what do you think – N’Zogbia or Hoilett – or perhaps even both?

Comments welcome.

    Completely off topic:
After Chelsea, Arsenal, Juventus or Inter’s turn to be interested in Bayern Munich Eden Hazard, as announced in our daily lives. Having recruited Nils Petersen, Rafinha and Neuer, the Bavarian club seeks to gain weight offensively even though it seems well supplied with the quartet-Ribery, Robben Gomez-Müller. But one of the four could go, leaving an empty space … The Belgian midfielder than 20 years would not be immune to this challenge. “Like all players at the same time, he wondered. There are offers that do not refuse but he would have to be unreal. At 99.9%, he will not leave because we want to keep, “said Fred Pack, Director General of the LOSC. Moreover, Lille prepares for a possible departure from Gervinho (Newcastle?). Great Danes have made their choice on the Argentine prodigy Pablo Piatti. Relegated to Almeria, where he is under contract until 2015, the versatile international environment of 22 years turned the heads of many European clubs and the competition looks tough on the case. If the champion of France comes to this transfer, it would surely be a wonderful coup for L1.

Lot to read for a snippet about us and Gervinho, but it’s from today’s L’Euipe in France.

We should firm up on our interest in those 2 as Gervinho won’t be coming. Would be fantastic signings. Much cheaper and already know the Premiership.

Both are some awesome flair players! NZog we have seen before, Hoilet is one dam tricky speedster! Like Aaron Lennon type. NZog is the better player and of course a couple of years older. Hoilet is still learning and will only get better.

    Hoillet – 5million
    Puncheon – 1million
    Shane Long – 4 or 5 million

3 players for the price of N’zogbia.. and no one can say Puncheon is crap as he’s proven in a pretty poor blackpool team that he is a good enough player for this league he’s very quick/strong has good control and has a good shot on him comfortable on either foot aswel

Get N’Zogbia back. He obviously wants to come back by what he said on twitter. Lets not mess around by offering £5m or other clubs will start making bids. Lets offer £8 – £9m and Ryan Taylor or Guthrie in exchange.

Hoilett is good enough to play now! he has a season under his belt in England. People seem happy to talk up £10m moves for players from France which is generally Championship standard bar 2 or 3 teams

also Gervinho how do u no its legit u got a link or anything

    @GeordieToon

Capital Outlay are payments made after 1 year or more. So in this case if its 8.5 rising to 10mn it could be based on appearance/assists/goals for just next season.

  • GeordieToon89 we need a strong 11 1st tho,, if pardew wants squad players theres plenty of frees, the reason tottenham is where they are now is because they buy sum1 to go into the 1st team then that demotes the regular starter to bench,,, they constantly improve thier 1st team 1st
