N’Zogbia Hints He’d Like To Return To Newcastle

10:39 am, Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 71 Comments

It seems that Charles N’Zogbia would welcome a move back to his former club Newcastle United.

Charles N’Zogbia - he saved Wigan last season

Newcastle were keen to sign Charles in January, after they had sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool, but with just hours left in the window, Wigan asked for a ridiculous fee for their player.

If they were going to lose their best player they wanted big compensation for him, just like Newcastle had received from Liverpool for one of their top players – Andrew Carroll.

The news is that Newcastle went in last week with a low first offer of 5M for Charles, and we expect an increased bid from the Magpies.

Charles also has a Twitter account and he tweeted this yesterday:

“Newcastle is a big club and a great atmosphere to play at St James’ Park!”  ” I enjoyed the time I had playing for NUFC.”

The one problem with Charles is how he would affect the team spirit at Newcastle, since when he was last here, he went in the huff more than once, and seemed to be in his own little world at times.

But since he left Newcastle he seems to have become a better player, if anything, and we are also hoping he has also matured.

If that’s the case,  he would be a tremendous acquisition for Newcastle, and probably worth up to £10M.

It also seems that manager Alan Pardew is a big admirer of N’Zogbia, and of course given the squad Newcastle currently have. the French International would fit right in on one of the wings.

That’s an area Newcastle are planning to strengthen in the summer.

What do you think?

    Anything new on Enrique

  • 4 youngtoonfan // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:45 AM

Who’re we gonna get instead of gameiro? cos he seems pretty sure he doesn’t want to go to a team that is not in Europe, Sturridge is probably unlikely and Ba seems likely but I think we need more than just Ba for our strikers. any ideas on who else we should get?

  • 5 toonbelmonter(mr.T...iote) // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:46 AM

birts just that there in early discussions m8 here the article for yah, n gettin there get the zog bak, http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/06/02/newcastle-united-stage-last-ditch-bid-to-keep-jose-enrique-61634-28805931/

  • 6 Stuart // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:48 AM

I’d definately take Zoggy back like, would be a demon down the left wing.

As for strikers I can see it being someone none of us expected. Someone like Loic Remy as belmonter mentioned earlier.

I also think Ba will come in aswell, although I don’t want him because of his knee.

My realistic first choice however would be Sturridge but I can’t see it happening.

Y we wasting r time on gamerio wen we cud be getting zoggy bk!!!!

  • 10 pearceet // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:53 AM

Why did we sell N’zogbia…. If him and Jokeinear had a fall out. I know who I would get rid of….. Poor decision by Ashley

  • 11 FollowMyTwitterLewisKing7 // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:53 AM

Not worth 10m, when we already have Ben arfa.

  • 12 tdt // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:53 AM

N’zog and Sturridge would be a good start, if we can hold onto our current players. Add one more good striker to that and we have a very competitive team. Of course the squad would also need increasing via a new batch of young talent being shipped in.

  • 13 dickinsonjuniour // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:54 AM

connor_nufc a think your dead right there like and yeah why we wasting time on a player that wold rather not play in our league then waste our time on player who wants to play in our league and in our team get n’zoggy gervinho for the wing to and get sow or get erding 4 2 3 1 is the way foward for our team next season and try and go for micah ricards on loan from city with option for permenant buy and also get mangala and keep jose too be great squad also with the additions of demba ba oscar wendt? victor wanyama be hell of a squad with also joey say to say leaving smith going routledge and peter lovenkrands

  • 14 Brutooon // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:55 AM

I would welcome him back, remember he is a much mature zoggy than during the last time he played for us

Zoggy and Ben Arfa at the wings

  • 15 dickinsonjuniour // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:55 AM

or yeah get sturridge but on lean with option to buy to see how well he does in our team

  • 16 ochytoon // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:56 AM

How in any way does this indicate he would like to come back. He isn’t going to say, my time at Newcastle was shit and I hate all the fans. He is a professional.

  • 17 Markaccus // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:57 AM

    Last stuff I heard :-
Bid refused for m’bengue but he still expected to sign.
    Gervinho still likely
Toon will withdraw bid for gameiro if he doesn’t decide soon, still small chance
Erdinc a target if gameiro doesn’t come
Jose and Barton both played their last game for toon, club trying to broker good deals in selling them.
No idea how true this all is.

  • 18 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:57 AM

I’m not sure we’ll sign anyone that’s being mentioned. There’ll be a sudden anouncement about a player we haven’t actually been linked with yet (if there are still any out there), that seems to be the current trend for the club. I think Zog would be a decent buy though.

  • 19 dickinsonjuniour // Jun 2, 2011 at 10:58 AM

    my dream team next season
    krul
    richards mangala colccini enrique
    cabaye tiote
    n’zogbia ben arfa gervinho
    sturridge/sow/erding

subs forster nolan kazenga saylor wendt wanyama ba ranger

  • 20 connor_nufc // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM

Lads dont forget about jonas aswell I thought he was outstanding this season mayb we cud stick.ben arfa just behind the striker and have jonas on the left wat yous think?

  • 21 kentonmags // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:01 AM

Gameiro offered a 5 year contract and 45k a week. Currently on 8k a week at Lorient. #nufc

    from twitter

  • 22 toonbelmonter(mr.T...iote) // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:01 AM

the1willy a think the club want 2 big players like, a think they want
    zog 9mill
    gervinho or gameiro 10mil
    cabaye 4mil
then get a few carr signing so a reckon we mite get zog

  • 23 gorgonzola // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:02 AM

Yeah that would look awesome Connor and Dickinson…

Man I am so excited :)))))

  • 24 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:03 AM

It’s true, we all seem to be forgetting about Jonas, who seems to be getting better, and what about Nolan, he did manage 12 goals last season… not too shabby.

  • 25 roshan MAGPIE // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:05 AM

I would love n zobia back and i dont want a players who dosent want to play for NUFC and Tats gameiro he completely ignores us and tells tat Valencia and PSG are better clubs than NUFC indirectly let this guy go where ever he want s and bring in a player who would like to come to NUFC sacrifiesing champions league look at ben arfa and Tiote they are now stars of NUFC they even left champions league to join us and they are now the diamonds of NUFC fans so i want the players who wants to play for NUFC rather than the one who says they want champions league FOOTBALL or the one who say s we are POOR gameiro and owen u guys suck K

  • 26 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:05 AM

Toonbeltmonter I really hope they do bring in these players (and it looks like Cabaye has already spilled the beans on his coming in).

  • 27 connor_nufc // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:06 AM

Plus hes are captain so we cant just leave him out

  • 28 tjshawsey // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:07 AM

I hope we withdraw the Gameiro bid. He clearly does not want to come and we want players to play for the shirt.

  • 29 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:07 AM

roshan Magpie, couldn’t acgree more. If Gameiro doesn’t want to come, then we shouldn’t be pulling out all the stops to get him. Let him go to his Champions league side, we’re better off with someone who really wants to pull on the stripes (and who isn’t 5’5”, unless he’s called Messi)

  • 30 toon til i die // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:08 AM

I think we are forgetting about the future here guys N’zobia is a hot head and will not stay at one place for more than three years we need to be investing in youth for the wing preferably someone English.

  • 31 Toonfreak87 // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:11 AM

1 way or another we are going to be a much stronger team then we were last year. Like I’ve said before even the the freebies we’ve been linked with aren’t shaby :)

  • 32 tdt // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:12 AM

    ——————-Krul——————-
    Simpson–S.Taylor–Collo–Enrique
    ——————-Tiote——————
    ———Barton———Nolan———-
    N’Zogbia————————Ben Arfa
    —————–Sturridge—————-

    Subs-
    GK: Harper, Forster
    RB: R.Taylor
    CB: Williamson, Kadar
    LB: Ferguson
    RM: Jonas
    CM: Guthrie, Vuckic
    LM: Lua Lua
    ST: Ranger, Best, Loven, Ameobi

So imo we need to buy N’zog and Sturridge, buy better back-up for RB and ST, and bring in a new load of talent that could step up into and of the back-up positions if necessary (ie like Ferguson and Lua Lua have done this season).

  • 33 roshan MAGPIE // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:13 AM

GOOD thing u also thing the same way THE 1WILLY

  • 34 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:14 AM

OH, and don’t we have a certain ‘Gosling’ who’s now almost back to full fitness. Having Ben Arfa and Gosling back will be like having two new signings straight away.

  • 35 Markaccus // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:14 AM

We’ve given gameiro a deadline, I think we’ll pull out in the end. Agree with most on here we shouldn’t get him if he wants to be elswhere.

  • 36 toonboyjake // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:15 AM

    http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110602/back-in-black_2281670_2370238 new third kit

  • 37 tdt // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:15 AM

True gosling would be in there too, as would this Cabaye guy if the romours are correct.

  • 38 JP...from The Rock // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:16 AM

He’s a talented, over rated and priced arrogant little cu*t, remember we got Ben Arfa who is 10x the player for only 5M. That is why we should keep looking abroad.

Think out of the box guys, our targets don’t have to be in the prem nor do they have to be ex players ie. N’zog, Bassong etc!!

  • 39 toon-boi arran // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:17 AM

Lads look like Gameiro would rather move to PSG according to Sky sports:
    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6962983,00.html

I for one am not to fussed about him he never wanted to be here in the first place!

So hopefully we get Nzog and gervinho as the wingers…BA on a free and someone like sturridge or podolski someone of that mould!

  • 40 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:19 AM

At this rate we could just go all gun-ho and stick one GK, 8 midfielders, and a striker. Our current midifield + rumours: Guttierez, Nolan, Gosling, Tiote, Cabaye, N’Zogbia, Tiote, Lua Lua, Guthrie, Vuckic, Pratley etc etc. Be like the entertainers all over again, except with a few more goals against :-(

If he doesn’t want to be here then he shouldn’t come it is as simple as that, passion and pride for the club aids performance greatly and without that i cannot see his overly achieving or becoming a fans favourite here.
Fingers crossed for Gervinho now lads

  • 42 the1willy // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:20 AM

    Erm, two strikers I meant

  • 43 connor_nufc // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:21 AM

Dont 4get lads we still have shola :)

  • 44 JP...from The Rock // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:22 AM

toon-boi arran – podolski now there a player a hugely admire and totally forgot about. He would be magnificent for us but sadly I don’t think we have a chance :(

Gameiro to me does not fancy us one bit on the other hand I believe we’ll capture Gervinho if Arsenal don’t come in for him.

  • 45 toonbelmonter(mr.T...iote) // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:22 AM

hope he duz go there paves the way 4 us to nik erding

  • 46 TOON4LIFE_1 // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:22 AM

i think gervinho will come since arsenal are the only ones looking interested. and they dont have the balls to launch a formal bid. so its optimistic about gervinho.

however hes got the african cup of nations with tiote!!!

  • 47 Cockney Magpie // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:23 AM

has gameiro actually come out n said any of this or is it all media? isnt upson on a free id get him in as cover

  • 48 connor_nufc // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:24 AM

Uspon is the worst defender In football history

  • 49 Pwnanza // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:25 AM

Just a thought. But do you know how Pardew keeps saying Gosling and Ben Arfa are going to “Be like new signings for us” when they are fit and available.

Is he saying that because he is not expecting many to come in, or is it and excuse to not spend as much money?

I am not trying to stir anything up, it just hit me that Pardew has said that line an awful lot when talking about them two..

  • 50 Stuart // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:25 AM

Wouldnt go anywhere near Upson like free or not. Walking time bomb! Glorified titus bramble imo.

  • 51 JUGGALO TOON ™ // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:25 AM

    @ochytoon

“How in any way does this indicate he would like to come back. He isn’t going to say, my time at Newcastle was shit and I hate all the fans. He is a professional.”

Owen basically said that and he’s a ‘professional’ I hope Sir Alex gives him a a right telling of, I’m sure Sir Alex doesn’t like his players on twitter in the first place never mind slagging of other football teams.

  • 52 toon-boi arran // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:25 AM

    @JP…From the rock

I dont think he is out of reach he still plays for cologne his home town team and they just avoided relegation, he’s the type of player we need loyal! and dedicated! rekon if were going to splash 10 mil on Gameiro we could spend it on him! and he is internationally proven!

agree with you on Gervinho unless arsenal come sniffing i got a good feeling about him!

  • 53 Cockney Magpie // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:25 AM

podolski is a great shout dnt he play for some1 sh!t aswel? could b getable

  • 54 JP...from The Rock // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:26 AM

connor_nufc – I hope you’re being sarcastic. How many times would you have put Ranger on istead of Strolla Ameobi?? I would have every time I could except against The Scum cuz that’s when Ameobi actually looks like a professional football let alone a striker.

  • 55 Stuart // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:26 AM

Maybe because between them they played around 4 games last season Pwnanza so they will be like new signings, stop p1ssing on me chips!

  • 56 Toonfreak87 // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:29 AM

surely the link with PSG doesn’t make sense if he’s wanting Champions League footy he might as well stay where he’s at. It would be a sidewards step for the lad

  • 57 Toonfreak87 // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:31 AM

sorry my bad just realised a got the two players we’re after mixed up still think PSG would be a sidewards step though

  • 58 JAMSHA // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:34 AM

I dnt care if Gemirio dnt wana come hear. An I know he will b a super flop if v sign him. So better not risk in signg him. I would better turn up to podolski .

  • 59 geoff777 // Jun 2, 2011 at 11:39 AM

We need real scary pace in at least two more players.
Wingers who know where the goal is and can score 8-10 goals++.

Zog would do for one of them.
    Gervinho the other?

  • 62 Davies // Jun 2, 2011 at 12:03 PM

I was appalled at the idea of re-signing N’Zogbia when it came up. Sure he’s good, but he’s a tw@ as well. Blaming Kinnear for his departure was on of the most thinly veiled excuses for jumping ship I’ve ever heard. He was agitating for a move for ages. I think, perhaps, his time at Wigan might have brought with it a large dose of reality, and maybe N’Zogbia realises that he did actually leave a “big club”. Maybe he has matured a little; only time will tell on that one.

I’m still against signing him, but if he does come back and make a selfless contribution, with the undoubted talent that he has, I’ll cut him some slack.

Regarding the Shola/Ranger comment above, JP – Do try to remember what happened when Ranger got his start against Villa (exactly nothing, in actual fact). Yet to score, despite his talent. Shola may be a bit of a donkey, but at least he scores.

  • 66 toonincheek // Jun 2, 2011 at 12:20 PM

What Gameiro wants is CL football, warm weather, a great team and fan base – oh yes, and lots of money.

He knows he won’t get his ‘ideal’ move that ticks all the boxes, so it makes sense to take time to think about it and make a decision.
Then, once his decision is made, hopefully he will stick with it and have no regrets.

My only hope is that, if he does choose NUFC, it’s for our potential, the start of a new exciting team of Entertainers (we all hope) – oh yes, and the money.

Hope he doesn’t come just for the money. If that’s the way he is, then he would have said yes already.
Good news, then, that he is taking his time.

  • 67 Sav // Jun 2, 2011 at 12:41 PM

    Very persuasive, Toonincheek.
As for the Zog, selling for 5 mil and buying back for 10 just shows who was wide awake and who was asleep at the wheel – Joe effin’ Kinnear.
Lots of players need careful handling and to be treated with caution from time to time. I even work with people like that. Come to think of it, I married one.
