Local Paper Reporting Newcastle Close To Gamerio Signing

The Newcastle Journal is reporting today,  they think Newcatsle are close to signing Kevin Gameiro.

Kevin Gameiro – on his way to England?

And of course this is a problem we always have with the transfer window –  it’s really hard to know which reports are accurate and which are just made up.

However, we hope that the local journalists (Mark Douglas in this case)  have some inside information from Newcastle,  and the Journal is reporting the Tyneside  club still have a good chance of signing the French International .

But we wonder about that.

The Journal is saying proof that Newcastle are still in the running happened last night, when Paris Saint Germain’s head of recruitment, Alain Roche,  said that Gameiro was “closer to England” than a move anywhere else.

But there is also news today that Arsenal may fancy the player, so it could be a reference to that, since Kevin has said many times before that he wants European football next season, and being French, he will no doubt attract Arsene Wenger.

But you never know – I’ve been wrong many times before, and Newcastle fans will be hoping I’m wrong again on this one – me too. 😀

We should presumably know by this time next week – at the latest.

Here’s hoping.

Despite what he’s said, I think if we did sign him, he’d try his guts out! He wouldn’t play like he’s on holidays.

I have a feeling because we are probably in a good financial position (paying cold hard cash), with 52k fans. We are in a good position to sign some great players.

Personally I believe Mike Ashley is probably putting minimum release fee’s in, and most likely a clause saying if they don’t get into europe by 2/3 seasons then they can leave at a certain price also. It would make good sense in my honest opinion…and yet I hate cashley with a passion…but everyone can always turn things around, I hate him now but if he can prove to me he can invest and make us great in time, I can forgive him.

Also I hope we still go for Gervinho, I think we will, I just don’t see the sense in bidding and negotating to then pull out of 1.

    Coxonfamily,

Also, 10m in cold hard cash is on offer. When you compare it to Valencia’s 7m in instalments, it’s a no brainer for Lorient.

Unless other clubs match our offer, he’ll end up here. Because they won’t let him talk to anyone else if they don’t. And if it’s a choice between Lorient and Newcastle, the difference will be around 40k a week. If he can knock that back, he’s a better man than I…

Yeh 7mn Euros in installments compared to our 12mn euro in hard cash. Massive difference, thats why our bid has been accepted by Lorient.

I get the feeling that Gameiro is coming here but Gervinho isnt’t….just a feeling mind

It could still happen but I think it’s doubtful. Gervinho is more likely. I agree with GeordieRob that if he comes he will play really well and surprise a few people.

If they both come we will be scoring goals galore.

Sorry folks just spoke with Craigcoozy! The idiot on here earlier suggesting Gervinho in next Tuesday is a fraud! ( should have guessed as my mate doesn’t tend to find that info out )
But the one on twitter informing us of an unknown player being in Newcastle is true.
    Sorry for confusion,

i agree with coxonfamily, there’s a good chance of signing players who are out of our league if you say to them, “we’re buying you for £10m, there’s a clause in your contract saying you can leave for £25 million”. Its a massive incentive for a player to know that if they try there heart out but still can’t drag the club into europe then they can still achieve their ambitions else where and we make a tidy profit .

I dont know why people are saying they wouldnt want Gameiro to come because he doesnt want to come here. But if he signs a contract with us it would mean he wants to come here. He might prefer spain but it doesnt mean he wouldnt try if he joined us.

    New blogger to this site.

I’ve watched gameiro on the web and he looks to be a good finisher of the ball. I think that if arsenal bid for him, then we are goosed. Hope we do sign him anyway.

Good to see the club making an early start to the transfer window, but don’t trust mike Ashley yet. Maybe if players start coming in, then more people will give him a chance. It’s a mistake to let go of our better players though, Enrique ect (if he goes).

We Need to let older fringe players go, as and when we sign new players though, amoebi ect.

I honestly think the mentality of some players is changing too. Over the past 5 years they’ve seen top player rush to the new “rich” team…then after a couple of seasons, the new rich boys come in at another club, these players are sat looking at great players on the bench not playing football…and the true footballers (the ones who actually wanna play) are thinking, im not going their, I want to play football.

We can offer them that 😉

has no1 noticed spurs arent trying to get him anymore, its because he sed to newcastle and tottenham he wud rather go to spain, so the club with the brains sed “okay f**k him, lets move on” meanwhile pardew and ashley are drunk dailing him every nite begging him to come here n tbh am embarased that theyve “spent sooooo long and sooooo much muney to go scouting” and the dont even have another target to move onto lol…. clueless
