The Newcastle Journal is reporting today, they think Newcatsle are close to signing Kevin Gameiro.
Kevin Gameiro – on his way to England?
And of course this is a problem we always have with the transfer window – it’s really hard to know which reports are accurate and which are just made up.
However, we hope that the local journalists (Mark Douglas in this case) have some inside information from Newcastle, and the Journal is reporting the Tyneside club still have a good chance of signing the French International .
But we wonder about that.
The Journal is saying proof that Newcastle are still in the running happened last night, when Paris Saint Germain’s head of recruitment, Alain Roche, said that Gameiro was “closer to England” than a move anywhere else.
But there is also news today that Arsenal may fancy the player, so it could be a reference to that, since Kevin has said many times before that he wants European football next season, and being French, he will no doubt attract Arsene Wenger.
But you never know – I’ve been wrong many times before, and Newcastle fans will be hoping I’m wrong again on this one – me too. 😀
We should presumably know by this time next week – at the latest.
Here’s hoping.

Comment #81Why does everybody include Enrique in their ‘realistic’ lineups for next season?

Comment #82This is my realistic 11. Players. Names? No one knows!!!!!
——————GK—————-
Defender–Defender–Defender
——Defensive Midfielder—–
Winger—–CM———Winger
—Attacking Midfielder—–
—Striker———-Striker——
My only hopes are that we will get 2 new better strikers with a record of at least 15-20 goals last season in the big leagues in Europe. Or 25-30 goals in some small leagues, of course nothing is “only”, I am open for suggestions.
Also, CM – NOT NOLAN!!! Captain? So? He is not a starter material, no speed and no skills with the ball. Yes he is a fighter, but this is not boxing. Should get 10-15 (Cup, League) starters and the rest as sub.
Also hoping Jose will stay.

Comment #83I don’t see any problems a player tells medias that his preferred destination is Spain.
All clubs make different noises to get the best deal, so can players.

Comment #85If only more could see the potential for this club, like ben arfa. Gervinho choosing us over a reported arsenal approach would be huge, but looks unlikely. Gameiro clearly looks as though he wants spanish football. For a player who plays for lorient, that unstoppable european force, he seems to have a high regard for himself.

DEFENDERS
——————-
Krul – no brainer, defo our 1st choice with Harper there to guide him along.. would prefer Fraser Forster on the bench tho’ but he said he wants 1st team football. So i guess he’s Celtic bound..
Simpson – I would prefer a better RB tbh but Danny boy has shown some maturity and signs of improving. I would give him one more season in the top flight to prove himself (MA gave him 5 recently!)
S.Taylor – Managed to tip the scale between him and Big Willo just because he can score goals. A pity tho’ as Colo’s influence on willo is evident. Having said that, 2nd CB position will be a rotational position for both S.Taylor and Williamson.
Coloccini – Future EPL Defender of the year. Future Newcastle Player of the year. My captain. ‘Nuff said.
Izaguirre – 2011 Celtic Player’s Player of the year and Scottish Writer’s Player of the year. Speedy wing back. Loves overlapping runs at defenders. The kind of player we need for that extra body in attack.
*Note: Enrique to join Liverpool for 15mil…that’s 50mil by Liverpool for two players under 6mths! *Drools*

DEFENSIVE MID
————————
Cabaye – Box-to-box midfielder and is described as a player who possesses “excellent vision, great ball control”, and “provides technical quality”. Ok i stole this paragraph from wiki. Tbh besides watching him on Youtube, i don’t really know much about him to rate him. We shall see how well he links up defense to attack. Anyway, we bought him at a bargain and that’s that.
Tiote (Boom Boom Cheik Cheik the room) – one of the best performer last season. An excellent ball winner and a hard tackler. The latter could get him suspended at times ‘tho. But not to worry lads, i have plan B (i used to be a boy scout “Be prepared”). Cabaye to play sole DM. We then play Gosling in CM and BenArfa in the hole behind our forward. So Tiote my friend, go forth and tackle!
*Note: I know Shane Ferguson is a Left-back. And can play Left Midfield at times. But i have personally seen this lad train, and i think he could cover DM if need be. I know playing inexperienced players out of position is a major no-no. But he has the vision and ball control. (i may be wrong but hey, this is my dream!) LOL

Comment #91I hope we can get Gamerio since he is a quality player, but I would rather find out sooner rather than later, or I would hope the team can find out sooner so that they can move on to Gervinho. I would hate to lose both. I know its a pipe dream but I would love it if we could somehow get both.

MIDFIELD
—————
Gervinho – If he’s in the B&W next season.. Top Goalscorer Season 2011/12 for Newcastle United! I see him linking up well with Cabaye and Ben Arfa. I placed him as a Winger and as a Wing Forward for his ability to provide top class assist. Fast, strong. Can’t wait!!
Ben Arfa – I feel like we just had a new signing in Benny. Proved his flair and technical abilities in the short period before Jong the ding dong decided to temporarily change profession and became a MMA fighter. Anyway Benny’s raring to go and set the Premier League alight with his mazy dribbles, tricks and runs. And a word of warning to all Keepers, thunderous long ballistics are his forte.
N.Zogbia – I must admit i did not like the way he left Newcastle in 2009. But Zoggy has matured since. A possible NUFC target for next season and i would receive him with open arms. Quick and versatile. Can play in either flanks and also as full backs (but i prefer him in midfield ‘tho) Can’t wait if he do return to Newcastle.
*Note: K.Nolan, Gosling and Jonas. Wow! What a bench! If my dream line-up do indeed come true, it would be the first time in a while that we have strong backups in almost every midfield positions. I would rotate Nolan with Arfa and Jonas with N.Zogbia for League cup and FA cup games.

ATTACK
————-
Even when I am dreaming, I know we can’t get Gamiero or a top class proven Forward!!!! HAHA.
So Best and potential signing Shane Long would just have to be our 1st choice Forward. Gervihno could also take over this position if need be.
*Note: Out of the remaining forwards we have on the books. I *might* just keep Ranger and Ameobi as covers. Ranger needs to learn the trade in loan spells and we shall just play Ameobi against the scums down the road. LOL!

Comment #94Oleg G – what is your formation about mate? do you watch Newcastle? actually I’ll go as far as asking have you ever watched Newcastle? don’t like to be so blunt but ho’way man 3 at the back don’t make me laugh…coz seriously I’m creased right here!
If Pardew EVER went with 3 at the back (long term) I’d be calling for his head…and I’m a real Pardew convert so I very much doubt that would be an option. Who would you consider in this 3 man defense? please reply coz I’m really interested…

Comment #95We have been hearing about this player for weeks!
He is reported as being not enthousiastic about a prospective transfer. I say if he does,nt want to come then let him just bog off somewhere else then!
We should concentrate on players who want to come and play for us and not Prima-Donna,s !
He may or may not be a good player, he does have a name which appears to be well known in the French League and other clubs are said to be interested?
Curious to find out if all this bull is actually a ploy to confuse the press while the club is looking elsewhere for other players!
