Surprise news in the Sunday Sun today, that Newcastle will let 20 year-old striker Nile Ranger leave this summer.
20 year-old Nile Ranger – on transfer list
The England under-20 striker has been told to find another club, and that he is no longer in manager Alan Pardew’s plans.
Nile signed a 5 year deal only last year, but it seems the club have given up on the player, and that he would benefit from a new start at another club.
It could be that a number of Championship clubs will be after him, and we don’t know if this has something to do with his poor discipline record in training, which Alan Pardew pointed out when the London manager first arrived in Toon last December.
Newcastle are reported to be looking for bids of £1M or more for Ranger and it looks like two Premier League clubs, QPR and Bolton. are interested.
At the time of writing, there have been no formal bids made for the player.
This will come as a shock to the London-born player who has often waxed lyrical about playing and living in Newcastle.
Nile joined the Magpies three years ago when he was let go by Southampton, and he had a difficult past in London.
The youngster was involved in a number of robberies when he was a young teenager, but he seemed to have come clean and matured somewhat on Tyneside.
Nile made 58 appearances for the club with 3 goals.
Comments welcome.

Comment #8Ranger definitely has some talent and potential.
However, the lad’s poor discipline record has hindered him from progressing.
If he wants to stay, he needs to start training hard and get serious about his career.

Comment #11Ranger seems deluded to the fact he can have his ‘gangster’ off the field antics, but still carry on to be a Premier League footballer.
The matter of the fact is it just can’t happen. Although i think selling him is over the top, we should loan him out to a Championship club, and see whether he can score goals at that level yet.
Here’s hoping.

Comment #12Can’t see this being true. He was the most used substitute in the EPL last season(useless fact). He wouldn’t get that much of a chance if he wasn’t wanted. Sunday tripe me thinks.

Comment #23I think its more likely we are looking to loan him out and the sunday sun have got the wrong end of the stick. We might be asking for a mill fee in order to take him on loan to see if there are any takers

Comment #25No major loss – and no doubt similar reasons for not extending ASBOs contract.
Whilst we need serious professionals at the club a bit of ‘attitude’ is required in the modern game – not autonotoms.
The sooner the players wake up to the fact that they are receiving vast wages for doing something the man in the street would do for nowt the sooner we might see them pulling together for the club and putting in a decent shift week in week out
Here endeth the sermon for today

Comment #26I’m repeating myself but didn’t have any answers on previous thread:
“Newcastle have stopped talks with captain Kevin Nolan over a new contract so he could run down the remaining two years of his deal and leave for free. (News of the World, subscription required)”
From the BBC gossip column, is News of the World a reliable source?

You say bad to worse today but knowing this club we’ll be linked with Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney by the end of the day. Then tomorrow it will be back to League 1 players lol

Comment #28A player who will never reach his potential simply because of his attitude. Phil Airey is the one to watch. Hope we sign a new upcoming striker as replacement.

Comment #31And for people saying he isnt goid enough, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT. Hes 20 years old FFS. Remember the Arsenal game, remember the Liverpool he tore their defenses apart. Hes still got stuff to learn like every 20 year old footballer but hes has bags of potential.
