Long Running Enrique Saga Could End This Week

The news today out of Newcastle is the club is hoping to get some decision this week,  from their left-back Jose Enrique, on what he wants to do.

Jose Enrique – saga could end later this week – good

Ever since Andy Carroll was sold in January, Jose has been linked with a move away from Newcastle, and the team most likely to sign him is said to be Liverpool, where he could join up again with the 22 year-old Gateshead striker.

The player was again linked with a potential £8M move to Liverpool just over the weekend, but with Newcastle offering the player a terrific five year deal only recently it’s debatable whether he will get better personal terms on Merseyside.

Jose said he would only speak to Newcastle about a new contract when they were safe, and then that was changed to the end of the season.

But the Spanish I21 International now owes Newcastle an answer, and if he wants to seek pastures anew, then so be it.

He’s been a terrific player for Newcastle in his four years at the club, since he was signed by big Sam Allardyce for £6.2M from Villareal in August of 2007.

But if he now wants to leave Newcastle, the club needs to know that, so they can then plan for the future.

That will not stop Newcastle fans being very disappointed if Jose does leave the club this summer, and of course if he should decide to stay – he’ll be a hero on Tyneside.

I like the lad and the way he plays, but if he doesn’t want to stay no point in forcing him. I hope that he can be convinced to stay by the players we are going to bring in… and not a big fat wage increase alone.

Yeah, if they do sell him I hope it’s to a Spanish/German/French club where he can wax lyrical about how great his time on tyneside was and do some PR for Newcastle and the fans.

Has anyone not stopped for a second and thought… the reason that Jose hasn’t said whether he’s staying or going is because he really DOES want to say, but is finding it hard to come to an agreement with the board?

If he REALLY wanted to go, he’d have just said so…

Well I must be a smb along with 90 percent of everybody else on here.

I like you as a blogger on here normally, you bring good crack to the blog. But come on it is childish putting 1st, 2nd, etc…

I see a story and X ammount of comments and think get it something has happened. Then boom a load of s..t.

I’m afraid the 1st, 2nd, 3rd thing is with us to stay, my lovelies. It’s been going (on and off) since this blog started, and for a long time before on other sites. Nowt you can do.

Regarding Jose Enrique; I’d dearly love for him to stay on, but if he wants to go, like everybody else here, I hope he doesn’t go to Liverpool. That would make me sick and angry.

    Howay Lads!

Pissing down rain in Nova Scotia Canada but feeling good anyway. Everyone waiting on the big announcement, but can’t help but feeling like the club is on the rise. Yeah, we’d like to see Nolan, Joey, Jose all sign on but these deals do drag on, especially with so much going on. If I was an agent I’d be tellin my clients to hold off signing to see what kind of deals get announced. Not just who is coming in (show of ambition) but what kind of deal they strike. (a measure of your worth). Like I said, feeling very positive about the new season and think all these issues will get resolved.

Cabaye and Gervinho announced would be great – but I hope the club doesn’t just sit back then and think that’s the job done for next season.
That should only be an excellent platform for more signings – Sturridge please and how about Kranjcar?
If it’s true that Barton and Nolan are going two in is not good enough and we haven’t mentioned Jose who really needs to get his finger out and say what he has decided.

Time for Jose to pee or get off the pot.
Nice to see us offer a fat wedge to a ‘pool target as they did to Carroll, mind. Even if he goes, they’ll have to equal that.

Of course we need Enrique to stay. Yet enough of this dilly-dally and shilly-shally. Make you minds up Jose and Ashley. Are we going to build a challenging team or not? Jose developed to be the player he is at NUFC not anywhere else so I think he does owe the fans something instead of having his head turned by clubs who have contributed nothing to his career!!!
