Alan Pardew Has Little Influence At Newcastle

Joey Barton has again said that he has no intention of leaving Newcastle United,  and will see out his remaining year of his contract at the club.

Alan Pardew – seems to have no influence with Mike Ashley

Next summer Joey will be a free agent and could negotiate a very decent contract at some other club, but why Newcastle wouldn’t offer him a decent contract now – we have no idea.

Newcastle have offered Joey a two year deal, which is off the table now according to his agent Willie McKay.

And Joey wanted a four year deal, so why one earth could they not agree terms on a three year deal – and split the difference?

We have a suspicion that Mike Ashley does not think he has had good value from Joey, who is on around £65K/week.

In four seasons on Tyneside Joey  has only played 82 times, with 35 of them being last season, and he has also scored 8 goals, 5 of which he scored last season.

Joey was tremendous for Newcastle last season, and we were hoping his injury problems would be behind him.

And it seems a sad state of affairs when Newcastle cannot tie down Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton, two of their very best players and the two current leaders on Tyneside.

Jose Enrique is a little different,  because Newcastle could probably bring in decent replacement for the Spaniard, with young Shane Ferguson already showing he could do the job for the Magpies at left back.

Joey Barton is currently on vacation in Las Vegas, but will return on July 4th with the rest of Newcastle’s players and will resist any attempt by Newcastle to sell him this summer.

It says something about Alan Pardew’s influence with Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias, that two players he sees as vital to Newcastle’s future,  have not signed new deals at the club,  and Joey hasn’t even been offered a new deal.

As we’ve said before we can bring in new players in the summer, but tying down Kevin and Joey at the club is all important to Newcastle future success, and for maintaining the excellent team spirit that exists at the club.

We have to hope Kevin gets a decent offer soon, and Newcastle come to their senses with Joey also,  and offer him a decent extension to his current contract.

As far as Kevin Nolan and his contract is concerned,  he still has two years left on his current deal, so there is still plenty of time to get him signed up, but we’d love to see that happen this summer.

And it seems that Alan Pardew’s wishes seem to carry little weight with the Newcastle hierarchy, otherwise surely the club would have signed Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton by now.

Comments welcome.

We are going forward but the way we have treated our Captains is disgraceful. You can’t actually move forward without respecting and remembering what they did for us. 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

I would love Barton to stay. Not too fussed about Nolan.. aye he’s a leader (so is Alan Smith) but does he work hard for the team? No, aye he’s scored a few goals for us over the past 2 season but if he didnt take penalties and if we had a decent striker would he have scored as many?

As much as I would like Joey to stay him staying is going to cause further problems so I hope the matter is put to bed soon and he’s sold.

Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan and Enrique can move out.

The reason is that we will get good, young (all below 25 years old) and ambitious players

Barton and Nolan are on their late 20s and Enrique’s heart is not here anymore

Nolan has 2 years left on his contract so why would they offer now!

Joey Barton, I am sorry to say that when you look at the stats looks a poor investment.

    We need a top striker!!!!!!!!

Ed man, we offered Joey Barton a contract but he was greedy and wanted four years. So let me get this right, over the last 4 years Joey Barton has had ONE good season and all you seem to agree he is right to demand another four years, absolute madness. A 2 year deal on 40 grand a week with the option of a third year is the most he deserves. Once again a good decision by the club.

Wish people would stop saying we’re going forward. As things stand this transfer window has been a disaster so far, yeah we’ve been linked with good players, emphasis on the word linked. Only thing that’s confirmed is that Barton and nolan arnt getting a new contract. What happens if things stay the way they are? I.e no contracts for Barton and Nolan, enrique likely leaves and we bring in Taylor and cabaye and a couple of other unknowns. How will everyone feel then? Because there’s just as much chance of that happening as there is of us getting gervinho and gamerio. You never know with newcastle, i wouldn’t be surprised if Alan curbishley was our manager next week, tiote has gone to Chelsea and the clubs on the Market again!

Many of us lament that there are lads on the roster taking home big pay packages and yet cannot contribute anymore. Both Barton & Nolan could enter that phase of their careers if they get long term deals. It wouold be much better and for the player and NUFC to agree to a long term deal heavily laden with bonus money for performance. Structured so the bonus could outweigh what player might earn on an annual contract. The old carrot in front of the mule would be incentive to keep the senior squad members in top form.

Personally I would meet the 12mil valuation of N’Zog. Proven attacker in the premiership who would slot straight in for us on the left- who’s to say Gervinho et al won’t pass muster, or take a season to get to grips with life in England.

Difference between Barton & Nolan – Nolan has been awesome for us, his contributions over past 2 seasons should never be undervalued, but Barton is a driving force and you can see him playing a part in a push for Europe – Nolan is a bystander at times, and adds too little technically from midfield – his finishing in the box is excellent mind.

AS – I don;t think that qualifies as greedy by Barton – he is negotiating a longer contract to protect his future as a player beyond 30, in doing so he is compromising by accepting a wage cut. I accept his position as reasonable, other clubs allow players to finish their careers even though they are on the wain physically.

if nolan, barton and smith all go then at least it saves me the trouble of trying to get their massive wages off when the new football manager comes out. then it’ll just be a matter of getting shot of ameobi and the game can really begin.

Barton – been here like 3-4 seasons but he only play for a total of ONE season, the rest he spend injured and maybe BEHIND BARS. Plus some players refuse to join NUFC because Barton is in the team!

Nolan – good leader, excellent header and score goals ONLY if we play him behind a big striker like Carroll. Other than that he didnt do anything.

Cabaye seem to be a younger and better midfielder to replace Barton. HBA might be the supporting the lone striker

get rid of the oldies, replace them with the young good players

joey allready have fantastic contract. if he sigh new contract maybe he will not play at this level. we can remmember a lot of players with that example. in this situation joey will play on high level next year, and than he can sigh new contract with NUFC. He will not leave because he want to stay here., and because he will play better than this year also Ashly will want him to stay 🙂 also he will not receive better contract from other club
I’m big fan of Joey and I think that there is no room for panic here.

Same situation with Nolan (not exactly but similar)

This window has been a disaster so far aaronjd?

Nothing has happened yet and the window only fully opened yesterday.

What were you expecting? Every transfer to be announced on the opening day? Thats not how the windows work.

Players/clubs like to hold out to see what clubs are interested/how much money they can get.

If we’re lucky we’ll get Cabaye and Gervinho(maybe) announced this week, but the rest could take awhile. The windows open until 1st September, gives us alot of time to do our business.

    Lets face it.

No-one on here knows what goes on behind the scenes. For all we know there could be credible reasons for all the decisions so far that in the long run benefit the team.

Or they could be the result of a power mad money driven owner.

Point is we don’t know either way. Why’s everyone acting like they’ve sh1t the bed? Summers just started, we’ve got money in the bank and theres alot of good players out there.

    The revolution starts here lads!

Ed sometimes I think you’re as bad as the rest of the doom and gloom fans. Barton has had a good season but is replaceable by someone a lot less controversial and Nolan is probably going to be a bench warmer next season if we can get the right players. You also seem to be forgetting that they still have time left on their contracts and although Ashley would probably like to sell Barton before he leaves on a free he could still be with us until the end of next season.

    Mike Ashley is Pardews employer.

If Ashley wants to run the club as he does, Pardew has two choices – resign, or stay and accept that.

I cannot blame him for not resigning.
