TalkSPORT is reporting this afternoon that European Champions Barcelona are keen on signing Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique.
Jose Enrique – couldn’t resist Barcelona surely
If that is true we think it would be hard for Enrique to turn down a move to the best club team on the planet, and back in his home country too,.
But that’s if the report is true, and we have no idea if it is true.
But if Enrique moved to Barcelona, and was in the first team he would walk into the full Spanish side, which is an ambition of his to play for the reigning World Champions – which is hardly surprising with a man of Jose’s abilities.
Hopefully, if Barcelona enter the race it will up the price too, with Liverpool apparently making their final offer of £8M for the player later this week.
It appears that Carlos Puyol will be out for another three months following knee surgery, and the news is that top manager Pep Guardiola is looking to bring in some defenders as cover.
If this news is indeed true there’s no way Newcastle will be able to hold onto Jose Enrique, and come to think of it, it would be good if Jose wasn’t playing in the Premier League too.
It would be very hard to blame Jose if he wanted to make this move – that’s if it’s all true of course. 😀
Comments welcome.

Comment #4Good luck to Enrique. He deserves to make the step up, play in a quality team and get into that Spainish side. We are a long way off being a quality team. Best wishes to Enrique…

Comment #5Barca after Jose…really? Could be true but am not so sure.
If he goes there then I have no ill feelings towards him. That would give him his dream on a platter.
Can Barca afford him though that’s the question

Comment #7I wouls much, much rather see Enrique in a Barca shirt rather than a diry Liverpool shirt! I think it would be a great move for him as he would wlk into their side as he is a million times better than Abidal who is pushing on a bit and Maxwell. He woud also probably be recognised as the best left back in the world!!

Comment #9As much as i want Enrique to stay, i think he deserves to play for this quality of team. He has done our club proud sticking with us through the hard times when others have left without a second thought. If you leave Enrique thanks for the commitment and hard work you have put into this club, you will be remembered as a honorable Geordie. Now get yourself into that Spanish team and live your dream son!.

Comment #17To be fair, TalkSPORT does have the reporting quality of a carrot.
He’s a great player, but his biggest weakness is his passing, and his nack of giving the ball away cheaply.
Doesn’t really fit with the Barcelona way does it.

I hate having old players coming back to haunt us!

Comment #19The fact that Gervinho’s agent directly mentioned Arsenal and Man City and not us is surely the biggest indication yet that he will sign for either Arsenal or Man City.

Comment #28On the topic of nolan and bartons contracts would you off keven nolan a 28 year old? and barton an extention of 4 years which again is 5 years they will both be 33 when there contract will end and am sorry but there isnt another 5 top seasons in them we will get into a alan smith situation where were paying them 40 grand a week and them not playing i think 2 year contract with the option of a 3rd if we wanted to give them it would be the best deal am just sick of people saying the clubs ripping the soal out the club so 2 players go and thats it relagation? give me a break i cant even see where nolan would fit in the team next season to merit him getting his 5 year deal he wants lets face it hes not going to be ryan giggs or paul scholes is he…. rant over
