Newcastle In For Sevilla And Ivory Coast Midfielder?

News late today that Newcastle may be after Sevilla’s midfielder Romaric.

Romaric – Sevilla’s 6’2″ midfielder

The midfielder whose full name is Christian Koffi Ndri, stands 6’2″ tall was born in Sürmene in the Ivory Coast, and has played 42 times for his National side.

But the fact he turned 28 last Saturday means he doesn’t exactly fit young players Newcastle are supposed to be after this summer.

The news is the player has already been part of three bids since the end of the season, and on Wikipedia he is supposed to have already signed for Turkish club Trabzonspor, but that wouldn’t be the first time false information has been entered into Wikipedia.

Two Turkish sides, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, are thought to have already bid for the midfielder, but the Sevilla President has said a third bid has come in from England, and it is thought to be from Newcastle – why – we have no idea.

It’s probably because we are supposed to have £35M to spend this summer, and we’ll therefore be linked with every player available. :D.

Sevilla President Jose Maria Del Nido had this to say about bids made so far for their midfielder:

“We have two offers from two clubs in Turkey and another from an English club,” Del Nido said. “We will study them and talk to the player.”

Newcastle have been impressed with last summer’s signing, Ivory Coast International Cheick Tiote, and it’s small wonder they are now looking at some of Cheick’s International team-mates – like Gervinho of Lille – as only one example.

But of course Newcastle had better not sign too many, otherwise we’ll be missing them all during the African Cup of Nations next January.

Like Gervinho, Romaric spent time at French club Le Mans,  from 2005 through 2008, at which time he joined Spanish club Sevilla.

But we’d be very surprised if Newcastle are in for this player.

What do you think?

If this is true and we got him and Gervinho we would be screwed for the African cup of Nations

i dont believe this story, probably the normal paper crap.

why would newcastle sign a 28 year old with his best playing days behind him, when they wont even renew the contract of barton and nolan ???

So many contradicting Gervinho stories at the moment.

A French website is claiming he will go at Arsenal and we never made a concrete offer for him.

Anyhoo, looks like we’ve missed the boat on Gervinho…

    http://www.le10sport.com/Mercato/Les-Bleus-retardent-le-transfert-de-Gervinho-a-Arsenal-070647940.html

    Translation:

Reportedly, Arsene Wenger has begun negotiations with the entourage Gervinho to finalize his transfer to Arsenal. These were interrupted because of the France team.
Lille will he lose one of its best players this summer? In any case, the scenario that is emerging for Gervinho, courted by the biggest English clubs. Reportedly, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have moved to the active phase on the folder and have actually begun discussions with the entourage Gervinho to try to finalize the coming of the Lille striker this summer. Negotiations halted last week because of the France team. Contractually bound to TF1 in his capacity as consultant, Arsene Wenger was forced to travel to Belarus on Friday, and follow up on the other two international matches of the Blues: Ukraine, Monday, and in Poland on Thursday. But discussions with the player’s entourage are expected to resume upon his return.

No offer from Newcastle to Gervinho

Gervinho would have him, a tacit agreement with the leaders Lille who had promised him at the end of last season (2009-10), a release this summer. After Jean-Marc Guillou academy in the Ivory Coast, the Belgian club Beveren, Le Mans and Lille finally, the Ivory Coast international will continue to grow in a big European club. LOSC his side hope to recover at least 15M € on the sale of striker . And as a close case, contrary to what the British press in recent days, no concrete offer has been made ??by Newcastle in Lille to engage the services of Gervinho. For the moment, so it’s Arsenal who holds the rope on the back.

Deep down I had a feeling it would end this way. It was good to dream again though!

Did we even make a bid in the end? The local press in Newcastle seem to think that interest cooled a while back and we’re going all out for Gamerio instead. I just hope we’re not wasting our time trying to persuade targets that have no intention of joining us, for to then miss out on the more realistic ones.

This player is an International team-mate of Tiote and will no doubt settle in nicely here. Just like Coloccini was for Deportivo he’s an ever present in the Sevilla team. I think he played 36 matches for them this season.

We will all know what happens with Gervinho by Thursday / Friday. I can’t wait to see what the hell is going to happen. I am kinda sick of all this waiting and want things finalized already. Giving players so much time to dwell on moving is too risky for us to attempt. We should have sent NUFC Reps to help and help push a deal for Gervinho to sign for us.

a read somewher tht we wer stalling on Gervinho only because of the two African nations cup tournments over the next 2 seasons, am not even assed if we dont get him a would be more than happy with Cabaye, Martin, Gameiro and El Arabi… then get some others like Sturridge and Taylor n maybe free’s

Just by mentioning cash rich Newcastle as a bidder tends to make other clubs think they will have to pay more.

This is all tricky, as NUFC need to convince players that if they come to Toon, after a year or two they will be in Europe. That must be why NUFC is linked with so many younger lads. The Mags really have to find the quality lads behind some starters at the great teams, and then convince them they have a shot at starting and playing with other ambitious lads looking to Europe. I wouldn’t be surprised seeing NUFC signing lads on 2 year contracts.

I think we can forget about Gervino signing for us, apparently, acording to GiveMeFootball, Man City are going to “hijack” him. They can outbid anyone and pay him more than any other club can.

An extremely reliable NUFC source has told us that the club are certain they have done enough to secure the services of Gervinho! 4yr deal

Right lads now i know he is lying, this is too could to be true, and where there is too good too be true in newcastle, thats because its most likley isn’t!
