Gervinho Has Made Decision – He Will Join An English Club

It seems that Ivory Coast star Gervinho has now decided which club he will join, and it’s a club in the English Premier League.

Gervinho – will join English club

This is what Gervinho told Sky Sports today:

“My mind is made up, I am leaving,” “I have made my mind up. I will soon meet the club and let them know.”

“But they understand my feelings that I want to prove myself in a top league in Europe.”

“My agents are moving things as I want, people know where my future lies, it is in England.”

Clubs interested in the player have included Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United, although Manchester City were also credited with an interest, although that report is now looking like it may have no foundation.

Newcastle were favored to be in with a decent chance of getting the player only  last weekend, but since then Arsenal have made a strong move for the player, who has said he wants European Champions League football next season, and if that is a strong requirement, Newcastle will not get him.

The truth is that Arsenal now have to be the favorites to sign the player, and they have been interested in him since way back in 2007, when he was just 20,  and  still playing for the Royal Sporting Club of  Beveren (Beveren for short),  in the Belgium second division.

But there’s still a chance, albeit a slight chance, that he could arrive on Tyneside, and join his Ivory Coast team-mate Cheick Tiote.

French International midfielder Yohan Cabaye is due on Tyneside on Friday, and it would be nice if a certain Ivory Coast winger/striker was also introduced as a new signing for Newcastle at that time. 😀

You never know, and I now believe in miracles,  because I watched the second half of the Newcastle – Arsenal game in February.

Newcastle now need a second miracle to capture Gervinho – and it seems it’s against Arsenal – it’s de ja vu all over again!

Howay The Lads!!

If we get him along with Cabaye, all we need is two or three more players.

    N’Zogbia
    Ba/Sturridge

Nothing more worth saying about this. Just have to wait and see what he decides. He would look great in black and white!

Mac you will if he signs! But i agree. What he said is he’s made his mind up and agents need to sort it out which means it should be tied up pretty soon

a heard that newcastle next season are going to be more of a possesion side a i think this could be why we are bringing cabaye in more passing player then barton nolan and holds ball up better and got good vision etc like xavi sorta but obv not as good

Lads, to be realistic are think our chances of getting him are pretty slim Arsenal and bloody Liverpool want his so we have little chance. Our league position wasn’t up to much either, well not to someone that has just won the French league also i don’t think he would leave a club in the CL to play for us. Only club with a real chance is Arsenal. Not getting me hopes up now, be to long a running saga. Wenger is a rat!!!!! lol

All this transfer talk seems to have got out of hand because of twitter, a lot of players are just chilling on holiday at the mo so not a lot happens really.

Ive got mixed feelings bout sunderland buying 3 man u players as on the negative it shows their intent to reinvest early and that gets players thinking…on the other hand all the players are fringe players and without great players around them they will show their real ability lol

On our point of view ill b relieved when Cabaye is signed up to again show some intent and i really wudnt mind spending 15-17m on good attacking pacey widemen and attackers with prem experience such as Zog, Hoilett, Ba then bring in Naylor from swansea for cheap or maybe Olsson from Blackburn whos quite good too, but i think its really important we still have Jose, Joey and Nolan here next season as weve been a team that wins games with grit and guile we just need to add a bit of pace and trickery to that to push on, i cant see us getting Gervinho or Gameiro but theyd b nice

It’s entirely possible that, in keeping with Arsenal’s record, they won’t have even big for him. I think we have a reasonable chance to be honest.

I know it seems so obvious he would choose arsenal but for some reason i cant see arsenal paying more then 10 million for a player like gervinho when they have a few players who play like him already at the club. arsenal need players in other areas not attack

Why not sign Keisuke Honda! For 15-20 million! He is one of my favorite players in the world. Maybe worth a cheeky bid!

Eurosport: Newcastle have been granted permission to speak to Swansea defender Neil Taylor after launching a £1 million bid.

Gervinho is holding on to long. If he has made his mind up why doesn’t he just come out with it and put us out of our misery and p1ss off to Arsenal lol, then we can move on to another target. Would be awesome to have Cabaye and Gervinho unvailed as our two first signings lol.

We couldn’t begrudge Arsenal as they have been following him for years and the fact he did say it would be a dream to play for them…our chances are slim. I did think we had a good chance a few days ago but not now. Time to look at another option for the right hand side. Hmmm Walcott as they will have Gervinho hahahaha.
