West Ham Bid £3M For Kevin Nolan

Newcastle have received a £3M offer from relegated West Ham, for their captain Kevin Nolan.

Kevin Nolan – West Ham bid turned down

Newcastle have turned down the offer, and we’re not sure Kevin would be too delighted to be back playing in the Championship next season, and the London club probably couldn’t afford Kevin’s wages either.

So it would hardly be good for Kevin to take a drop down in both class and wages to join West Ham now,  would it?

Newcastle signed Kevin for £4M from Bolton Wanderers in January of 2009, but the club was then relegated five months later.

The very fact that West Ham have bid for the player will alert some Premier League clubs, like Bolton, and we just cannot believe Newcastle will sell their captain – what’s going on here?

The Liverpudlian has just turned down an extension to his current deal at Newcastle, because he wanted a three year extension but Newcastle offered only a two year extension.

Kevin still has two years left on his current contract, so the sky’s not falling in – not yet anyway.

Surely something can be worked out between the club and the player, so we’re not going to see bids this summer for Kevin Nolan as well as for Joey Barton, because that’s exactly what will happen.

New West Ham manager Sam Allardyce wants his former Bolton captain to help the London side get back into the Premier League. at their very  first attempt next season.

But we wonder what manager Alan Pardew thinks of all this – he’s identified Kevin Nolan as a key player for Newcastle in the years ahead – and the club cannot even agree a new deal for him?

And we’ll not even mention Joey Barton and Jose Enrique, who are two more top players at Newcastle who could leave soon, although Joey has said he will see out the one year left on his current deal.

Newcastle must retain their best players and both Kevin and Joey are great for the team spirit at the club too, and theyll be needed to help the new players that come in over the summer.

If Newcastle cannot tie down their best players this summer, then Newcastle fans will not be very happy, whoever the club manages to bring in over the summer.

Can hardly see Nolan wanting to drop back to the championship.

This whole Nolan nonsense has been way overblown as far as I’m concerned like.

He’s still got two years left on his contract. He’ll definately be here next season I reckon and will probably be offered a short extension next summer.

Its just a case of Newcastle not wanting to be lumbered with another 32+ player with massive wages.

Apparently West Ham are willing to match his current deal if he joins them.

    Dont forget either:
    1. It was Big Sam who signed him up for Bolton
2.He was Big Sam’s first signing when he moved here.

So Nolan obviously likes the fat man!

I would not be suprised to see this deal go through myself for about £5M.

Do you know what interests me with some of you on here.

You post your ‘Fantasy’ teams for next season and hardly any of them include Nolan in the starting XI.

Now that there is a slight possibility of him leaving, you are all up in arms about it.

I mean, seriously, Make your friggin minds up!

Yeah, that’s what I thought. It’s reported in the papers that that it was Fat Ally’s first signing though.

I’d be weird if he was in tiote’s shadow seen as though hes a totally different type of midfielder.

Anyone saying we should cash in must be forgetting we have one of the smallest squads in the prem already!

West Ham will not be giving players like Carlton Cole, Robert Green, Scott Parker, Demba Ba or Thomas Hitzslperger etc away for cheap, so they will have the cash.

West Ham are in huge financial trouble…relegation will be close to bankrupting them

Who ever they sell will go to funding the clubs survival not on big named players exactly like ours did but they are in a far worse position

Yeah but they’ve got the £40m they lost by getting relegated to cover first.

We were alot better off when we got relegated and I think the most we paid for a player was £1.5m for routledge, on quite low wages.

it not all about startin XI its about big enough squad to cope with injurys as we have them all season long. i believe its healthy to have compo for positions it brings best out of players we should keep all the decent players we have and build not dismantle. otherwise we be in the same boat as last year.

Nolan’s a good goal poacher, but he’s slow.

If you had a choice of a fully fit Ben Arfa or Nolan to play behind a striker who would you choose?

Nolan’s done well, but Benny boy wins that decision hands down.

    Rotonda,

There is when he’s our captain and top goalscorer.

Don’t get me wrong, if we sign the players we’re after he shouldn’t be starting, but I’d much prefer him as backup to some of the kids who havent made the step up yet.

Funny, the other day they reported he wasn’t offered one.
