Alan Pardew will be back at his Newcastle desk tomorrow morning, and will look to concentrate on closing some deals in the transfer market over the next few weeks.
Yohan Cabaye – will sign tomorrow for Newcastle
Since Yohan Cabaye is due to arrive on Tyneside tomorrow, we expect Newcastle to complete their first signing of the summer, with the talented French International midfielder.
Newcastle players return to pre-season training three weeks come Monday ( July 4th), and Alan will want to have a number of his signings completed by then, so they can have a full pre-season training at Newcastle and will be on the US tour in July.
Other players that could arrive soon are left-back Neil Taylor from Swansea, and Newcastle should know quite soon whether their attempts to sign Kevin Gameiro of Lorient or Gervinho of Lille have been successful.
The betting seems to be that neither will join the Newcastle club, but we’re open to some surprises on that front.
Gervinho has said yesterday that he will be joining a Premier League club, but which one we don’t know – but it could be Arsenal.
Wigan Athletic winger Charles N’Zogbia is another possibility, but hardly at the £12M Wigan have quoted Newcastle for the player.
Charles seems almost certain to leave the Wigan club this summer, with manager Roberto Martinez looking like he’ll be the new Aston Villa manager.
Sunderland are also after the French International winger, and they have money from the sale of local lad Henderson to Liverpool – we suppose managerKenny Dagleish likes lads form the North East.
But if the news on N’Zogbia is correct, he would prefer a move back to Newcastle, and surely he wouldn’t want to sign for Sunderland, but you never know.
Sunderland are said to be after three man United players in Wes Brown, Darron Gibson and John O’Shea.
One surprise this summer is just how many established players Newcastle could lose, and they include Joey Barton, Jose Enrique, Alan Smith and even captain Kevin Nolan.
We’d be a lot happier if Newcastle could tie down Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan at the club this summer, becasue after all, they are the two leaders at the Newcastle club.
Are there any other players you think Newcastle will sign before July 4th?
