Newcastle Again Linked with South Korean International Striker

This is not the first time that Newcastle have been linked with South Korean International striker Ji Dong-Won.

Ji Dong-Won – striker has just turned 20

The 20-year-old has been watched by Newcastle for over two months now, and the first reports of Newcastle’s interest were in April this year.

Sunderland are also said to be interested, but that’s not too surprising since it seems Sunderland are always after Newcastle targets – that’s how it seems in any case.

The 6’2″ striker turned 20 years old on May 28th,  and would probably cost around £1M from his club Chunnam Dragons, who play in the K league and are located in the South Korean city of Gwangyang.

He has played 42 times for the Dragons and scored 15 goals since early last year, and has already represented South Korea 11 times and scored 6 goals.

It would seem he wouldn’t be too much of a risk at £1M, and of course he fits into the profile of players Newcastle want to sign this summer – hungry young players who can improve on Tyneside..

It could also enable Newcastle to sell quite a few shirts in South Korea – a growing football nation.

Maybe some of our South Korean readers can tell us how good this 20 year-old striker is.

We think he would be an interesting acquisition for Newcatsle.

Comments welcome.

Hope not. Might not be able to adapt to the physical game.

His Wikipedia makes an interesting read. Somebody (probably a mackem) reckons that he will be playing for Sunderland.

Yesterday he was on the great unwashed’s team list but somebody with sense took it off.

And he might turn out to be our Ji Sung Park for 1 mill he is worth the punt. Also it would add millions of new fans to the black and white army and millions of pound to NUFC

All right you SCABS I’m back from my strike and it worked (pity about the avatar though). Got an E-mail from Ed as well.

xfer, Why not 1 million is chicken feed (in PL not for us mortals) If it doesn’t work out not much lost. But who knows he maybe the striking equivalent of Tiote.

Manure are to bid £10M for Nasri, Young is set to join them today too. They will be unstoppable next season.

Really, any player is worth a punt at £1M, it all depends the terms of the contract, but i cant see him being offered £50k a week!

WWJBD @ 4 (love the numbers being back). I forgot about the Asian fan part that would come with such a deal.

If £1M is the price, pay it and get him in. Worth a punt for the same price that Trevor Francis was signed for back in 1266

Haha if Nasri goes to Man Utd and Nani stays then Young wont get a game which will serve the lil wimp right

    GG @ 8
Oh I agree about the numbers just a shame we lost the avatars. Yeah we can once again be ligitimate rivals to Man Utd in a couple years because a load of their money comes from the Asian market

Definitely worth 1mil just for the shirt sales and increased tv exposure for Newcastle games in South Korea. Especially if he’s already a Korean international at 19 with a better goalscoring average than 1-in-2. I’m not saying that makes him a quality player, but hell- can’t be worse than Ameobi, can he?

Worry about getting this lad in is if they try to compensate for our lack of decent striking options by buying a load of midfielders. This lad and Shane Long won’t cut the mustard! And thats even if we did re-sign the Zog and Cabaye.

We need a proven goal scorer up top, and then I wouldnt mind so much about being linked with Sh-Long and Ji-King-Dong-Won

N’Zogbia will come here. Simply because the only clubs in for him are us mackems and Liverpool. He wouldn’t go to liverpool as they have carroll (the thug) who lamped him and i don’t think he’d go to mackems after saying this “Newcastle is a big club, and a gret atmosphere to play at St James’s Park ! I enjoyed the time I had playing for NUFC ?” Which leaves us the option he wants. Not to mention the sources saying he wants back to papers.
