talkSport are reporting that Arsenal have indeed won the race to sign Lille and Ivory Coast winger/striker Gervinho for around £10M.
Gervinho – reports say he has signed for Arsenal
Newcastle were pursuing the winger-striker all year and last weekend it even looked like Newcastle were favorites to sign the player.
But it seems after Arsenal lost out on defender Phil Jones to Manchester United earlier in the week, and Arsene Wenger has now won the race with Liverpool and Newcastle to sign the 24-year-old.
Last Monday, there was news all over the web that Arsenal were making a big move for the player, and in fact Arsenal were interested in the player four years ago when he was still at Belgium club, Beveren, before he signed for Le Mans.
And it looked even worse when he said at the time that a move to Arsenal would be the dream move for him. 🙁
So it seems the rich clubs get even richer and there has been news today that Newcastle have missed out on their top two known targets in Kevin Gameiro and Gervinho, with French International striker Kevin again saying he will sign for PSG or Spanish club Valencia.
I suppose we shouldn’t over-react but either of those players would have been great singings for Newcastle United.
But hey, let’s hope we go to Chelsea and make say a £10M bid (or less) for Daniel Sturridge, who we think would be just great for Newcastle.
What do you think?
