Newcastle Said To Be Close To Demba Ba Signing

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are in the lead for former West striker and now free agent Demba Ba.

Demba Ba – Newcastle said to be favorites

We have no idea if this is true, but there’s little doubt that the 26 year-old would be a bargain buy, although Newcastle would need to pay a signing-on fee to the player (and his agent?) – that’s how these things seem to be done these days.

The French-born 6’3″ Senegal International had a release clause put into his contract in January, that said if West Ham were relegated he would become a free agent, and like the Yohan Cabaye deal Newcastle closed yesterday, the Magpies are again in for what looks to be a great acquisition, if they can pull this off.

But of course there is a cloud over Demba Ba, because he did fail his medical at Stoke City in January because of a dodgy knee, and Newcastle would have to give the player a stringent medical before they would sign him on.

But manager Alan Pardew is back in Newcastle now and has just and completed the Yohan Cabaye signing yesterday, and he will be keen to bring in more players before the pre-training starts on July 4th, as the manager will want the new players to have a full pre-season at Newcastle.

Ba scored seven goals in 12 games for the Hammers and looked a powerful goal-scoring striker, but he still was unable to save the Hammers from relegation, but he certainly did his bit.

Newcastle would be able to offer the 10 times capped Senegal International a good wage deal, probably spread over four years, which is what the striker is said to be looking for.

Demba Ba may even get the famous number 9 shirt on Tyneside, last worn by local lad Andy Carroll last seaosn, before he left for Liverpool.

Again, we have no idea if this report in the Mirror is true or not – but of course we hope it is.

Depending on his medical this could be a great signing. Pay as you play would be ideal even if he does get a sign on fee. Though i don’t believe anything i read in the papers, well except for my horoscope:)

Cabaye signin complete and was called by cwarr07 before any of the press, next up Gervinho. I understand people being sceptical about cwarr07 and mysticmag79 but if there rumours do turn out to be true will those people doughting them admit they were wrong? I dought it, to stubborn.

I’m not on twitter but Lille’s coach came out and said Cabeye had agreed to sign for us about 2 weeks ago so that certainly didn’t take much insight.

The stories r goin in one ear and out the other at the minute. I just hope we do get gervinho, a quality main striker and another 4 or 5 players. More if Barton and Nolan leave.

Does any1 no how much west ham payed 4 him coz thats a really bad contract clause especially since it was a january signing n i’d only b happy if it was a quite lucrative pay as u play 2year contract that way he wins if he stays fit n we don’t get totally bugger’d if his knee goes but at the end of the day we’ve got best wit pretty much the same goal ratio but i think he started 2look rly gd b4 he got injured

The thing that intrigues me about these so called in the know types, is that someone somewhere will actually know a few confidential things. Whether it is actually them or not… The proof is in the pudding so wel see soon enough I suppose.

Suits our style, tall/strong powerfull and quick.
and Scores goals which Ameobi and Loven just don’t, knows Multilanguage and is fluent English so should settle up North, Pardwho must of saw Hammers play and him Hitzelsburger and Parker were the only ones who did well.
Why not would be a perfect match for us.

If we sign Gervinho there is no way you can say he was just repeating what the press said, that will be the big signing for both Newcastle and Cwarr07

Ba would be a good signing for us but he is injury prone therefore we need another 1-2 good striker. Best is our main backup player and Ameobi has played his last game for NUFC

man u gambled on a striker with dodgy knee in early part of last decade and it certainly paid off.

his name was ruud van nistelrooy.

so i say sign this guy up, if we’re using 451, he can be a useful sub or 2nd striker playing once a week.
