Newcastle could sign 22 year-old Swansea left-back Neil Taylor, within the next few days.
Neil Taylor – could be signed next week
And it’s really surprising that Jose Enrique has still not told the club what his intentions are this summer, and that seems a little strange.
Bur Neil Taylor will be brought in whether or not Jose leaves Newcastle, and it looks to us that Jose is probably just waiting to see which club(s) may come in for him this summer.
Liverpool seem to be looking elsewhere for a cheaper alternative to Enrique, since they seem to have been turned off by Newcastle’s valuation of Enrique, which we believe is around £8M.
Newcastle offered £1M for Neil Taylor last week, and the player himself asked his club Swansea if he could speak with Newcastle, and permission was granted by the Welsh club, and that meeting will likely happen early next week.
Neil is expected back soon from his Spanish vacation, and the news today is that Taylor is already more than keen to come to Newcastle, and even though Swansea would like other clubs to get involved to drive up the price of the player, that’s not likely to happen.
And Swansea boss boss Brendan Rogers seemed to open the way for Neil to leave, when he said last Friday:
“There will be no player at this club who does not want to be here.”
“If a player decides they want to speak to another club, they can go, it’s as simple as that.”
“I’m only interested in those who want to play for Swansea.”
Yohan Cabaye and Neil Taylor for a total of around £5.5M seems good business to us, and the next one after Neil who could arrive on Tyneside is Demba Ba – if he can pass a medical on that knee of his.
And since he is a free agent – Newcastle could get Cabaye, Taylor and Demba Ba for a total of around £6M, assuming a £500K signing-on fee for the Senegal striker and his agent.
