There’s a strange report in the People today, that Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul will ask to leave Newcastle United, if he doesn’t become the number one goalkeeper this summer.
Tim Krul – will leave if not number one?
Of course Tim has every chance to be installed as the number one goalkeeper this summer, but we have a feeling that manager Alan Pardew could still stick with Steve Harper, if only because of Steve’s extra experience.
Tim is now a Dutch International and no doubt he will want to become a part of the Dutch squad from now on.
His performances for Holland in the games against Brazil and Uruguay recently, showed him to be a threat to Holland’s current number one goalkeeper, Maarten Stekelenburg of Ajax.
In his full international debut Tim not only kept a clean sheet in Holland’s 0-0 draw in Brazil, but he also picked up the Man of the Match award.
But we’re not sure why he would come out and say this – as he knows nothing is ever guaranteed in football, and we have to wonder just how true this People report is.
Tim has also been 100% committed to Newcastle since he was signed back in the summer of 2005, as a 17 year-old, and he has often talked in glowing terms of the Newcatsle club and their fans.
In our poll on the home page, on who should be Newcastle’s goalkeeper next season, Tim is leading with 51% of the vote, with Fraser Forster next on 24% and Steve Harper third on18%, with 7% undecided.
Krul has 34 first team appearances for Newcastle, and 25 of them were made last season.
