Tim Krul To Leave Newcastle If Not Number One?

There’s a strange report in the People today,  that Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul will ask to leave Newcastle United, if he doesn’t become the number one goalkeeper this summer.

Tim Krul – will leave if not number one?

Of course Tim has every chance to be installed as the number one goalkeeper this summer, but we have a feeling that manager Alan Pardew could still stick with Steve Harper, if only because of Steve’s extra experience.

Tim is now a Dutch International and no doubt he will want to become a part of the Dutch squad from now on.

His performances for Holland in the games against Brazil and Uruguay recently, showed him to be a threat to Holland’s current number one goalkeeper,  Maarten Stekelenburg of Ajax.

In his full international debut Tim not only kept a clean sheet in Holland’s 0-0 draw in Brazil, but he also picked up the Man of the Match award.

But we’re not sure why he would come out and say this – as he knows nothing is ever guaranteed in football, and we have to wonder just how true this People report is.

Tim has also been 100% committed to Newcastle since he was signed back in the summer of 2005, as a 17 year-old, and he has often talked in glowing terms of the Newcatsle club and their fans.

In our poll on the home page, on who should be Newcastle’s goalkeeper next season,  Tim is leading with 51% of the vote, with Fraser Forster next on 24% and Steve Harper third on18%,  with 7% undecided.

Krul has 34 first team appearances for Newcastle, and 25 of them were made last season.

You need a strong keeper behind a strong defence.
Krull will be full of confidence after Holland so might be worth starting the season with him, but firs mistake and Harps is back!
Fraser Forster is still around, and a top keeper.

Theres something intresting stuff in the Sun about Newcastle

1)Newcastle can spend big on wages
2)Apparently made 8 figure for european striker
3)Cabaye asked Gervinho to come and thinks he will
4)Neil Taylor joining but not replacement for Jose
5)Apparently we want scott brown from celtic

Probably all bull**** but still quite intresting

I don’t know why some fans rave about Krul. Great keepers make many great saves and make many saves look easy through great positioning.

I can think of only two great saves that Krul made and that was away to Arsenal and in the last game against WBA. He let in far too many saveable goals and whilst he might come off his line more than Harper his decision making and punching is often poor. Harper for me is the safer keeper by far.

I’m not saying Krul is bad nor Harper great – but I don’t think either is top class. Krul might well develop quickly – and he needs to – if he gets more first team football. I’d like to see how Forster gets on in pre-season, his height and physique are perfect for a dominant keeper.

What is this for absolute bull?

Where is your source? Krul has a contract untill 2015 and is totally committed to Newcastle United!

The only thing that would make him leave is if he were pushed out by the Hierarchy themselves due to a
way over the top Offer for him by a so-called Big Club!

He is now a full Dutch International and as such his value has gone up two or maybe even three-fold! Especially after his clean sheet against Brazil the other week!

I would give him the no-1 shirt permanently anyway as Harper is 36 and Krul is 23 and still learning but good enough to be no-1 keeper for us!

It would totally piss me off if he left!!

We have to cash in on Krul or Forster. Harps is, at the moment, the best of the 3. I would prefer to keep Forster and sell Krul – I’m not persuaded by him at all.

    1. Not real

    2. If it was real, it wouldn’t be something so dramatic. He is still very young.

    3. He has a good chance of becoming number one so no problem there anyway.

    4. End of story. There was no story to begin with in my opinion.

Don’t believe the rumour and anyway,
‘leaving newcastle’ would include a loan to make sure he gets regular footy.

Although I think FF would feel the same way – No. 1 (and I really can’t see that) or go out on loan.

Harps joins goalkeeping coaching team, other two fight for place, soderberg goes out on loan, the goalkeeping factory keeps on rolling, let’s not forget we also have another very good youngsters Alnwick and Robinson

Well said thevoiceofreason! Harps will make a fine goalkeeping coach and would be better than Pards fat mate who fills the role at the moment – I can’t see any of our goalkeepers improving much under his guidance and experience tbh…
