Is Mevlüt Erdinç The International Striker Newcastle Are After?

There is some speculation around the internet that Mevlüt Erdinç is the top international striker that Newcastle are after.

Mevlüt Erdinç – Could be leaving PSG

With the recent news that Newcastle target Kevin Gameiro is Paris bound, could that mean that the young French born Turkish International is on his way out of the Parc des Princes?

Erdinç has appeared on all levels for the his country of origin with 10 caps in total for the senior squad.  He began his career at Souchaux, where he scored a decent 36 goals in  78 appearances all before the age of 23.  In the summer of 2009 he moved to the then struggling Paris Saint-Germain club for around £8mil.

At the bigger club, he performed decently well with 11 goals in each of his first two seasons but has hardly set the inferior French league alight.  Though he is still young at only 24 1/2 years of age, I don’t think the Paris club would be looking to sell him for less than they paid, which would mean he could be captured for around £9mil.

But this is definitely an unproven talent who would be a risk for that amount of money in the Premier League.  There are definitely better and more exciting captures to be had in the French League (Loic Remy or Ideye Brown) than Erdinç. In the games I’ve witnessed he’s never stood out and was usually overshadowed by the opposition’s attackers.

Though for about £5-6mil I suppose he would be a decent enough buy if all the other striker options were exhausted. Would you be satisfied with Mevlüt Erdinç at Newcastle?

Sow would cost Too much. Still has a long time left on his contract (3 yrs?)

and Lille will not sell. They already lost Cabaye. They might lose Gervinho, might lose Hazard. No way will they sell Sow!

Get Sow Out of your head. Because he is not coming.

PSG want to recoop the money they paid for Gamiero, who will partner Hoarau his fellow French International.

    Ba – 12 games/ 7 goals (1 in less every 1.71 games)
    Long – 44 games/ 22 goals (1 in 2)
    Gamiero – 36 games / 22 goals (1 in every 1.63 games)

Even Gervinho who is a Winger/Striker has 35 games / 15 goals (just over 1 every 2 games)

So is Mevlut Erdinc near that?

34 games 8 goals (Goal every 4.25 games)

    Terrible record, no thanks.
Shola’s record 28 games 6 goals (goal every 4.66 games)
So he is basically another Ameobi, and this record is in an easier league for Mevlut in Ligue 1.

    Bendtner…..i would prefer.

i love a striker who is confident in his own ability.
bendtners record is second to none when you look at starts and goals ratio.

he would probably claim to score 30 goals when he comes here but i have no problem with an egocentric striker…no problem at all…

Bendtner – No. too expensive. Gunners want 15million for him.

Im having second thoughts about Shaqiri now… a friend of mine who watched the U21’s yesterday said he was a bit of a ball hog, and kept wasting chances by taking long shots. He did score however… but he comes off as a cocky lad to be honest… His ego would cause problems in the dressing room in my opinion… Not worth it. A shame though… i was “waxing lyrical” about him the other day!

In other news City have apparantly offered Ronaldo 350,000 a week. Ronaldo turned it down and wanted 400,000 a week, be the captain, have the number 7 and have a clause in his contract that states he is the highest paid player (so if city offer 401,000 to another player, ronaldo gets a wage increase…

he said he was also promised a tour of the royal palace in dubai amd ne treated like royalty by Sheikh Mansour’s Family…

Its all in the Singapore Newspaper….

If arsenal want 15 for bendtner I think it’s worth the risk. I reckon he could easily be a 20 goals a season striker , I also agree with Xavi that a cheeky bid for agbonlahor may yield some interesting results . Signing these 2 would be less of a gamble than a player from France/Germany as they know what the EPL is all about

    Quote from wiki:

Ba triggered a release clause in his contract stateing that he would be granted a free transfer should West Ham lose their premier league status paving the way for him to complete a move to Newcastle United on the 13th june 2011 becoming the clubs third summer signing.

Personally, i would like to see either Sow or Remy in other than Ba, with Best as a 3rd choice striker.

I’ll pass on Bendtner thanks, we’ve already had one egocentric striker at the club, and we all know how THAT turned out. I’d love to see Agbonglahor at the club, but being from another English club, and the fact he is English, means he’ll cost over what he is worth. Erdinc is a no go for me, seems an average striker. We need someone possessing lots of pace and flair, can’t think of anyone off the top of my head though.

We should Move in for Chinedu Obasi instead.
    – Same type of player as Gervinho (striker/Right winger)
    – 1 year older (25)
    – 25 goals in 74 appearences
    – Right Footed
    – 3 years left on his contract

Andre Schürrle Could be another potential Class signing, currently plays for Mainz and was their top scorer last season.

    – 20 years old
    – 15 goals 4 assist in 33 games last season

Even Rooney had a terrible season. Total of what? 10 goals in 30+ games? That doesn’t make Rooney crap. Erdinc will be fantastic if we play him off a strong forward. But that’s not going to happen has we are playing a lone striker. But what Erdinc gives us is depth. And for 6million. Its good. He’s fast and knows the back of the net.
